'Black Mirror': Paul Giamatti, Issa Rae headline new Netflix episodes
A look at the six new episodes in Season 7 of the Netflix sci-fi anthology series "Black Mirror," featuring Paul Giamatti, Issa Rae and Rashida Jones.
Although "Sweet Life: Los Angeles" has ended production, its cast continues to find solace in the show's run, which technically is not over just yet.
In 2021, "Sweet Life: Los Angeles," created and executive produced by Issa Rae, premiered, and some credited the show for bringing a breath of fresh air to the reality TV landscape. According to IMDB, the unscripted program gave "an honest and unique look into what it means to be young, Black, and in constant pursuit of one's dreams in the heart of South Los Angeles."
Unlike various reality TV shows, the cast consisted of new faces rather than celebrities and influencers. "Sweet Life: Los Angeles" was inspired by BET's "Baldwin Hills" and other nostalgic early 2000s reality shows, Rae told the Hollywood Reporter.
"Issa Rae and her production company always do an incredible job of really tapping into like the locality of it all," cast member Amanda Scott told USA TODAY. "I think people really resonated with that because they were seeing us be outside in LA without the glitz and the glam."
Fellow castmate Tylynn Burns added, "I think it was rare to see people in their 20s who are who have been friends forever and have genuine connections. On top of that, it was like post-COVID, so I think the show provided some light and encouraged people."
"Sweet Life: Los Angeles" was canceled at HBO Max after two seasons in 2022, leaving viewers on a cliffhanger. However, fans will have the opportunity to watch the first season re-air on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) starting June 13, and according to Cheryl Des Vignes, she and other members of the "group chat" will spill "a little tea."
Ahead of the OWN premiere, Burns, Des Vignes and Scott spoke to USA TODAY about some milestones they have accomplished since audiences last saw them on the show.

Tylynn Burns and Jaylenn Hart
Tylynn Burns and Jaylenn Hart are still together. The duo, who have been together for seven years, are living in their new home in the Los Angeles County area with their dogs.
"We've been through ups and downs, but we're in a really good place. The best part of our relationship is that we're best friends," Burns told USA TODAY. "I think being complete opposites, we bring out the best and worst versions of ourselves, but since we have that friendship, we just remain a safe space for one another to continue to grow."
Burns said they are excited to take their careers and relationship to the next level. An engagement, more international travel and kids are in their future, he added.
Hart is currently executing events for a major streaming platform.
"We're prepping ourselves for the most fun years of our relationship in our 30s," Burns said.
Cheryl Des Vignes and Jerrold Smith II
Longtime lovebirds Cheryl Des Vignes and Jerrold Smith II are living in newlywed bliss after getting married in Los Angeles in May. Their wedding had 170 people in attendance, including cast members of the show.
"I feel like our wedding was just the perfect representation of two LA kids who grew up in the city," Des Vignes told USA TODAY. "Right after dinner ended, it was just nonstop dancing, taking photos, and having a good time."
The newlyweds have been together since high school, and viewers got a glimpse of their journey on the show.
"The best part was it just kind of brought both of us closer," she said. "Having somebody in my corner while going through all that was amazing."
Des Vignes is a senior designer at a fashion company and a business owner. Smith works as the head of marketing for a China-based shoe company. The couple plans on going to Italy and Greece for their honeymoon in the fall.
Amanda Scott and Rob Lee
Amanda Scott and Rob Lee, who met during undergrad at Howard University, recently got engaged. According to Scott, it was a "display of love, support and community."
"I wish I could relive that day over again," Scott continued. "After that moment, it's like my entire life has opened up in front of me. I'm looking forward to so many things that Rob and I are going to do together as a unit."
The two don't have an official wedding date, but they are excited about their next chapter. Since the show, Scott said she is still working in the public relations and events space. Meanwhile, Rob hosts various events in and around Los Angeles.
The couple still lives in the Los Angeles area.

Orlando Bloom, Katy Perry breakup: Couple to focus on co-parenting daughter Daisy

Hollywood power couple Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom, who'd been sparking speculation about their yearslong romance in recent weeks, has broken up. Representatives for Perry and Bloom, who have been engaged for six years, confirmed their separation in a statement to USA TODAY on July 3. "Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry's relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting," the statement read. "They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect," the statement from their representatives continued. Us Weekly was first to report. The announcement comes after previous reports and media speculation that Perry, 40, and Bloom, 48, who share 4-year-old daughter Daisy Dove, had ended their nine-year relationship. People and Us Weekly reported in June that the couple had allegedly ended their engagement. Perry and Bloom began dating in 2016, briefly split in 2017 and got engaged in February 2019. They welcomed daughter Daisy in 2020. Bloom raised eyebrows in late June when he attended Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez's wedding in Italy alone. The "Lord of the Rings" alum, donning a crisp white button-down and khaki slacks, flashed a peace sign to onlookers as he left the Gritti Palace Hotel in Venice via boat. Perry had a slate of four Lifetimes Tour concerts in Adelaide, Australia, during Bezos and Sánchez's wedding weekend. After the celebrity nuptials wrapped, Bloom posted some inspirational quotes on his Instagram Story on June 30. In the first slide, Bloom re-posted a translated quote from the Buddha that read, "Each day is a new beginning. What we do today is what matters most." In a follow-up post, Bloom typed up a "daily encouragement by Daisaku Ikeda," a prominent Japanese religious figure and Buddhist: "The important thing is to take that first step. Bravely overcoming one small fear gives you the courage to take on the next." Contributing: KiMi Robinson, USA TODAY

David Beckham gushes over Victoria, his 'Lady Beckham,' after 26 years of marriage

After nearly three decades of marriage, David Beckham and Victoria Beckham are still gushing over each other as if it were Day 1. July 4 marks 26 years of marriage for the 50-year-old former footballer and the 51-year-old fashion designer, according to multiple social media posts from the couple. "26 years today you said YES to me," David captioned an Instagram post on Friday. "Happy Anniversary and thank you for giving me our beautiful children and building the life that we have together." He shared a series of photos of the couple, and their four children − Brooklyn Beckham, Romeo James Beckham, Cruz Beckham and Harper Seven Beckham − throughout the years. The beloved couple, who wed on July 4, 1999, are marking their latest marriage milestone just one week after David was hospitalized after undergoing surgery for a soccer-related wrist injury dating back to 2003. "I love you Lady Beckham," he concluded his caption, tagging not only his wife, Victoria, but his children too. "I love you so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️," Victoria commented under the photo carousel. On her own Instagram account, Victoria penned a sweet tribute to her husband. "Another year, another chapter in our love story," she wrote, along with a photo of the two kissing poolside. "I'm so proud of the beautiful family and life we've built together," she continued. "You and our four incredible children complete me. I love you so much @davidbeckham xx Here's to 26 years!! xx." In a September 2024 interview with USA TODAY, David spoke about what makes him and Victoria the "proudest": his four children. Beckham grew up in the East End of London in what he describes as a "working class background: parents that work very hard, two sisters that also work very hard." He and Victoria, despite the circumstances surrounding their fame, tried to pass that forward to their children. "They could be different than they are, but we are very lucky," Beckham said of his kids Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper. "They're kind, they're humble, they're hardworking and they're just good human beings. That's the biggest thing that we are proud of."
