Backbenchers Club: Govt's latest initiatives will ease living costs, drive sustainable growth

KUALA LUMPUR: The "extraordinary tribute" to Malaysians announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today reflects the Madani government's commitment to prioritising the welfare of the people, the Backbenchers Club (BBC) said.
Its chairman, Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah, said the initiatives would bring tangible benefits to Malaysians by reducing the burden of living costs, while simultaneously driving the nation's economic growth towards greater sustainability.
"This demonstrates the government's sensitivity to the current realities faced by the people," he said at a press conference at the Parliament building today.
Among the initiatives announced were a one-off RM100 cash aid for all adult citizens through the MyKad under the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (Sara) programme, maintaining toll rates, expanding Jualan Rahmah Madani and lowering the RON95 petrol price to RM1.99 per litre.
"These proactive and swift steps prove that the government consistently listens to the people's concerns and works to find comprehensive solutions for shared well-being," Shahar said.
He said the initiatives were in line with the Madani Economic Framework, which aims to raise both the ceiling and floor of economic standards, as well as the government's hard work in attracting investment, which is now translating into real benefits for the people.
"We call on all Malaysians to continue giving strong support to the Madani government to ensure Malaysia continues to progress and prosper."
Earlier today, Anwar announced that Sept 15 would be an additional public holiday for Malaysia Day (Sept 16).

As of July this year, RM410 million has been channelled to 830,000 STR recipients in Sabah, while RM500 million has reached 506,000 Sara recipients. Armizan, who is also Papar MP, announced this during the KPDN Carnival Tour and Buy Malaysian Goods Campaign 2025 for the Sabah Zone, held here from July 25 to 27. The event supports local entrepreneurs and promotes domestic products under the 'Let's Buy Local' theme, with KPDN targeting 2,276 PJRM series across Sabah this year and welcoming the recent RM300 million federal boost to the Rahmah initiative. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news? MADANI Communities To Receive Further Details Within 24 Hours After Announcements

MELAKA, July 26 (Bernama) -- The MADANI Community nationwide will receive further details related to any announcement within 24 hours after it is made, says Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil. He said the measure was to deliver accurate information directly to the grassroots in each locality. 'For technical matters, it may be difficult, but we want the MADANI Community to get the simplest explanation,' he said at the 2025 Peninsular Malaysia MADANI Community Retreat held in conjunction with the launch of the National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2025 at Mini Stadium Bistari, Ayer Keroh here tonight. The retreat, attended by around 2,300 participants from 1,406 MADANI Communities, was also joined by Melaka Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Communication Committee chairman Datuk Fairul Nizam Roslan. Also present were Senior Division Secretary (Management) of the Ministry of Communications, Mazlan Abd Mutalib, and Information Department director-general Julina Johan. Meanwhile, Fahmi said among the major announcements to be made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) on July 31. He said the tabling of a Malaysia Plan usually involved highly technical details related to the country's physical development, such as the construction of hospitals and schools. 'But within 24 hours, the MADANI Community will receive simplified explanations and breakdowns so that they can communicate the information in an easy-to-understand way to their respective communities. 'So this will be a new thing, because I want the MADANI Community to grasp and absorb any government announcement quickly,' he said.
