Celtics Reveal Huge Update on Jayson Tatum's Recovery

The Boston Celtics are still licking their wounds following the heartbreaking end to the 2024-25 NBA season. Losing to the New York Knicks in the second round of the NBA Playoffs was bad enough. Add in the fact that Jayson Tatum tore his Achilles in that series made it much worse.
Following the Achilles tear, Tatum is expected to miss most if not all of the 2025-26 season. He was not the only star to tear his Achilles in the playoffs, with both Damian Lillard and Tyrese Haliburton also suffering the same fates.
Tatum has been working hard in his rehab process already. He's bound and determined to get back on the court as soon as possible and pick up where he left off.

In Tatum's case, things seem to be moving along quite nicely.
Brad Stevens, the Celtics' president of basketball operations, spoke out recently with an update about both Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Of course, Brown underwent knee surgery after the season ended to repair a partially torn meniscus in his right knee.
"Jayson is working every single day. He has literally been here every day, except he took a few days break, but when he takes a few days break, (trainer) Nick (Sang) goes with him. So he's still working every single day," Stevens said.
"It's been unique to be here in June, and the early part of July, and both Jayson and Jaylen are here. We've played, obviously, late (in the playoffs) and this is usually the time where guys get away. But coming off of each of them having surgery, they've both been here. Jaylen was in this morning, he did a shooting workout, looks good. Jayson was in — moving pretty fast on that boot today. All indications are they are both progressing at incredible rates, which is great. But we're not going to put any pressure on Jayson to get back any time soon. We have no reason to believe that Jaylen won't be all clear and ready to go fairly shortly."

Obviously, Boston will not rush Tatum back onto the floor. Simply hearing that he is progressing quickly in his recovery is great news.
Holding him out for the 2025-26 season would not be a bad strategy. Along those lines, the Indiana Pacers recently put an end to the speculation about Haliburton potentially making a comeback next season. Haliburton's injury did happen well after Tatum's though.
Hopefully, there are no setbacks on Tatum's road to recovery. This is great news, but there is still a lot of work to do to get back on the court.

Klay Thompson teases Megan Thee Stallion romance with PDA photos
Klay Thompson and Megan Thee Stallion are apparently making their love known on the 'gram. Days after the Grammy-winning rapper included the Dallas Mavericks star in a poolside Instagram post, Thompson, 35, shared a collection of vacation shots Saturday on the social media platform that featured him cozying up to a woman in the Bahamas. Although Thompson's lady in question had her face turned away from the camera, the bright pink nails matched those Megan, 30, rocked in her original pool shoot on July 9. 6 Klay Thompson packed on the PDA in new Instagram photos. Klay Thompson/Instagram 6 The photos were shared days after Megan Thee Stallion included the Dallas Mavericks star in a poolside post. Instagram/@theestallion Thompson added a photo of a couple holding hands to his PDA-packed carousel. Prior to her romance with Thompson, Megan was linked to Chicago Bulls forward Torrey Craig last summer. At the time, the pair participated in a TikTok couple's challenge, where they answered questions about one another by pointing at each other or themselves with their eyes shut. 6 Klay Thompson held a woman's hand in one snap, with her nails appearing to match the shade Megan sported. Thompson, who was previously involved with actress Laura Harrier, is coming off his first season in Dallas after spending the first 13 years of his NBA career with the Warriors. A four-time NBA champ with Golden State, Thompson averaged 14 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists this past season. 6 Klay Thompson (31) just wrapped his first season with the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavericks, fresh off a 2024 NBA Finals run, then shook up the NBA in February when they stunningly traded star Luka Doncic to the Lakers, resulting in a turbulent fallout for the Dallas franchise. When asked in April if he still would have chosen the Mavericks, knowing what he knows now, Thompson scoffed at the 'ridiculous' question. 'You can't do that to me… That's kind of a ridiculous question,' he said. 'I don't own a time machine, and I don't believe in looking back. If I didn't have my whole career, I would not be where I'm at, and I wouldn't have been able to persevere through two really hard injuries.' The future is looking bright for the Mavericks, though, as the team selected former Duke standout Cooper Flagg with the first overall pick in last month's NBA draft.

LeBron James' Four Potential Trade Destinations Revealed
LeBron James' Four Potential Trade Destinations Revealed originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Los Angeles Lakers seem to be gearing up to build their team around Luka Doncic. They reportedly kept LeBron James in the dark about the team's sale, and they didn't offer him a contract extension or even discuss his future with the organization. Advertisement Multiple reports state that James isn't happy with the way the franchise has treated him after what he's helped accomplish since he arrived in Southern California. With all the trade rumors floating around social media, NBA insider Brandon 'Scoop B' Robinson took to social media to share the four potential trade destinations he's heard for the four-time NBA champions: "Mavs, Warriors, Cavs, Clippers," wrote Robinson. Robinson also wrote a report about James' potential arrival in Dallas, as the Mavericks have been keeping tabs on his situation for years now, according to Lakers insider Jovan Buha: Advertisement 'I will say that there has been some LeBron-and-Dallas buzz going on a couple years now,' said Lakers insider Jovan Buha. 'Remember in the summer of 2023, right after Dallas had traded for Kyrie, there was that rumor out there that LeBron was gonna go to Dallas on a vet minimum contract and team up with Draymond, and it was gonna be Luka, Kyrie, LeBron and Draymond. That, of course, did not happen. But there has been some buzz I will say in the general NBA ether over the last week or two with LeBron and Dallas.' Robinson detailed that James has a no-trade clause in his contract, so he will essentially have to be on board with any move, regardless of the trade package and the destination: Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James (23)David Richard-Imagn Images "Let's be clear — LeBron James has a no-trade clause. Any deal involving the King would require his direct approval," Robinson wrote. Advertisement Even if the Lakers manage to keep him around until his contract runs out, all signs point to this being the beginning of the end of the LeBron James era in Southern California. Whether that will also be the end of his NBA career remains to be seen. This story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jul 13, 2025, where it first appeared.

Boston Celtics jersey history No. 26 - Xavier Tillman Sr. (2024-25)
The Boston Celtics have had players suiting up in a total of 68 different jersey numbers (and have three others not part of any numerical series) since their founding at the dawn of the Basketball Association of America (BAA -- the league that would become today's NBA), worn by well over 500 players in the course of Celtics history. To commemorate the players who wore those numbers, Celtics Wire is covering the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team. With 25 of those jerseys now retired to honor some of the greatest Celtics to wear those jerseys, there is a lot of history to cover. And for today's article, we will continue with the first of 10 people to wear the No. 26, Boston big man alum Xavier Tillman Sr. After ending his college career at Michigan State, Tillman was picked up with the 35th overall selection of the 2020 NBA draft by the Sacramento Kings. The Grand Rapids, Michigan native would play the first four seasons of his pro career with the Memphis Grizzlies after being dealt there the day after the draft. That ended with another trade, this time to Boston, in 2024. He remains with the team at the time of writing. During his time suiting up for the Celtics, Tillman wore only jersey No. 26 and put up 2.2 points and 1.8 rebounds per game. All stats and data courtesy of Basketball Reference.
