
Kleija Festival 2025 to Kick Off in Buraidah
The annual event will take place under the patronage of the Qassim Region's Governor, Prince Faisal bin Mishal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, with the participation of the Saudi Culinary Arts Commission as a strategic partner.
The Kleija Festival aims to offer an enriching cultural experience for Al Qassim's residents and tourists from across the world, by presenting the traditional Saudi culinary arts and celebrating Kleija as the official traditional dish of Al Qassim Region.

This year's edition of Kleija Festival will kick off in Buraidah, one of the UNESCO's Creative Cities. The festival will showcase Saudi Arabia's unique culinary arts, particularly Kleija. It also aims to support productive families by highlighting their products at live cooking shows; hospitality lounges; bakery, factory, and company exhibitions; and food trucks.
The Kleija Festival will also involve other activities that include a variety of live cultural and entertainment performances aimed at creating a rich and engaging experience.
Kleija is the signature dessert of Al Qassim, blending Saudi traditional flavors. It has chewy soft dough stuffed with ingredients such as dates, cardamom, and black lemon, with a crispy outer layer.
The participation of the Saudi Culinary Arts Commission in the Kleija Festival 2025 is part of its effective strategy to support culinary events and festivals across the Kingdom.
The Culinary Arts Commission efforts include the Community Engagement and Local Food Festival Program, which contributes to supporting food festivals across Saudi Arabia's various regions to deliver a local food experience with an international style, celebrating Saudi traditional dishes as an essential heritage element.

Saudi heritage on display at Hail festival
RIYADH: A heritage festival in Hail is captivating visitors with a rich array of handicrafts that blend artistry and historical authenticity, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Saturday. The 30-day festival offers a glimpse into the past, showcasing the dedication behind creating everyday necessities and celebrating the success of local craftswomen. More than 40 activities are on display, allowing visitors to explore traditional skills such as wickerwork, sadu weaving, crochet, hand-woven textiles, and distinctive Najdi and Hail door making. Other highlights include traditional clothing, Thamudic embroidery, wood and leather beading, fiber arts, resin art, and soap making, the SPA added. Visitors can also savor a variety of traditional folk foods. At the heart of the festival, an artistic theater hosts performances, including the Hail Samri and Saudi Ardah. The festival supports local craftspeople by providing a platform to showcase their work directly to the public. It also celebrates the Kingdom's national identity and cultural heritage, in line with the Year of Handicrafts 2025.

Diriyah Art Futures Hosts Open Studio for Mazra'ah Media Arts Residency
Saudi Arabia's Diriyah Art Futures (DAF) hosted its inaugural Mazra'ah Media Arts Residency Open Studio this week at its headquarters in Diriyah, according to the Saudi Press Agency. The event served as a valuable opportunity to showcase the behind-the-scenes work of the research and artistic projects developed by the Spring 2025 cohort of artists and scholars. The first cohort consisted of the following participants: UK-based artist Dr. Stanza Indian artist Harshit Agrawal Saudi artists Arwa Yahya Alneami, Reem Alnasser, and Reem Alfagih Japanese curator and scholar Mizuho Yamazaki German scholar Anett Holszheid The night featured various artist talks, studio walkthroughs, as well as interactive sessions in DAF's XR and fabrication labs. Interestingly, attendees had the opportunity to visit the audio studio, extended reality, and production lab. There, they interacted with creative experiments and discovered the research and technical processes behind them. Mazra'ah Media Arts Residency provides selected participants with access to labs and studios, a budget for production costs, as well as a dedicated production team. To highlight the effect of technology on natural and constructed landscapes, the participant presented projects under the theme of 'High-Resolution Dreams of Sand.' Diriyah Art Futures represents a strong partnership between the Saudi Museums Commission and Diriyah Company. The new hub seeks to leave a strong impact on the new media and digital art landscape through the integration of regional voices into the global art and technology.
