Celtics' Jayson Tatum shares Cooper Flagg photo after NBA Draft
The post Celtics' Jayson Tatum shares Cooper Flagg photo after NBA Draft appeared first on ClutchPoints.
Following the 2025 NBA Draft, Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum shared a photo on Instagram with newly drafted Cooper Flagg, showcasing a meaningful connection between the NBA veteran and the league's newest top pick, via Noa Dalzell. The photo, which shows Tatum in conversation with Flagg, comes after Flagg publicly named Tatum as his favorite player and the one he most looks forward to facing in the NBA.

In a draft night interview with ESPN's Scott Van Pelt, when asked who his favorite player is, Flagg responded, 'Maybe Jayson Tatum. That's somebody that I watched a lot at Duke and then watched a lot again as he went on to the Celtics.' Flagg also added during the interview, 'He's had an incredible career.'
Flagg was selected No. 1 overall by the Dallas Mavericks in the 2025 NBA Draft, becoming the third Duke player since 2019 to go first overall, joining Zion Williamson and Paolo Banchero. The 18-year-old standout freshman at Duke averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game. He shot 48.1% from the field and 38.5% from three across 37 games, leading Duke to the Final Four before falling to Houston.
Hailing from Maine, Flagg grew up watching Tatum closely, especially given Tatum's own ties to Duke and his ascension with the nearby Boston Celtics.
Tatum has become a model of consistency and excellence for the Celtics. The 27-year-old forward is a six-time All-Star and five-time All-NBA selection. He led Boston to the 2024 NBA Championship and followed up with another strong season, averaging 26.8 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 6.0 assists. However, Tatum is expected to miss the entire 2025–26 season due to a torn Achilles suffered in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

Flagg enters the league with sky-high expectations. His rookie contract with Dallas is worth $62.7 million through 2028. If he meets projections, Flagg could become eligible for a $359 million supermax deal in 2029 and a potential $509 million contract in 2034. His potential career earnings could exceed $930 million from NBA contracts alone by age 31. Even with all the excitement, unfortunately, Cooper Flagg will not face his idol on the court during his rookie year due to Tatum's injury.

Three Team Fits For Deandre Ayton Following Portland Trail Blazers' Buyout
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - DECEMBER 08: Deandre Ayton #2 of the Portland Trail Blazers dunks the ball ... NOTE TO USER: User expressly acknowledges and agrees that, by downloading and or using this Photograph, user is consenting to the terms and conditions of the Getty Images License Agreement. (Photo by) On the eve of NBA Free Agency, the Portland Trailblazers initiated a buyout agreement with their former starting center that'll potentially pave the way for him to hit the open market. According to ESPN's Shams Charania, the Blazers are finalizing the buyout of center Deandre Ayton's contract, who was entering the final year of his four-year $133 million deal. While the buyout terms are initially unknown, Ayton was scheduled to make $35.5 million this upcoming season. The projected transaction is likely due to the Blazers having second-year center Donovan Clingan and eight-year center Robert Williams under contract. The team also recently drafted Chinese center Yang Hansen with its first-round pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, which may also spell the end to Williams' Portland tenure sooner rather than later as well. Ayton will have to clear waivers first before officially becoming a free agent on Wednesday . If he does, he'll likely be the marquee name at the center position in a class that's devoid of young talent at the age of 26. Ayton spent his first five seasons in the NBA with the Phoenix Suns, averaging a double-double during that span before being traded to the Blazers during the 2023 offseason. He played just 95 out of 164 games across two seasons with Portland and finished this past season with career-lows in points per game (14.4), rebounds per game (10.2), and free-throw percentage (66.7). Across his seven-year career, Ayton averaged 16.4 points, 10.5 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.0 blocks per game on a 59% field goal percentage. He has been much maligned throughout his NBA tenure for his motor and underperformance as a former top selection from the 2018 NBA Draft. That draft featured the likes of League and Finals MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, All-NBA Guard Luka Doncic, and All-Star Guard Trae Young. Below are some teams that could prioritize his services, whether on the waiver wire or the free agent market. Los Angeles Lakers LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - NOVEMBER 12: Deandre Ayton #2 of the Portland Trail Blazers shoots the ... (Photo by) The Lakers have been vocal about adding a starting-caliber center to their roster, and that need has only been magnified since LeBron James opted into the final year of his deal to contend for a title. Ayton presents portability alongside James and Luka Doncic as a viable lob threat around the basket and a pick-and-pop weapon. He'll have little resistance when it comes to annual minutes and could use the franchise as an optimal launching pad for a breakthrough season to fast-track a potential long-term deal. Charlotte Hornets PORTLAND, OREGON - FEBRUARY 25: Deandre Ayton #2 (L) of the Portland Trail Blazers shoots under ... More pressure from Brandon Miller #24 of the Charlotte Hornets during the second half at Moda Center on February 25, 2024 in Portland, Oregon. NOTE TO USER: User expressly acknowledges and agrees that, by downloading and or using this photograph, User is consenting to the terms and conditions of the Getty Images License Agreement. (Photo by) Charlotte traded away their starting and backup center from a season ago in the past few days to bring on additional shooting and perimeter scoring to build around point guard LaMelo Ball. With that being the case, second-round rookie seven-footer Ryan Kalkbreener is the only remaining center on the roster. Taking a low-risk, high-reward flyer on Ayton would be ideal for a Hornets franchise that seems ready to make a genuine postseason push after consecutive years of rebuilding. He presents abilities as a floor runner and paint threat that can fully maximize a Hornets' offense that's looking for a center to thrive in his role as a rim-protecting five-man in a four-out offense. Golden State Warriors SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA - DECEMBER 23: Deandre Ayton #2 of the Portland Trail Blazers fights to ... More take control of the ball away from Stephen Curry #30 and Trayce Jackson-Davis #32 of the Golden State Warriors during the first half of an NBA basketball game at Chase Center on December 23, 2023 in San Francisco, California. NOTE TO USER: User expressly acknowledges and agrees that, by downloading and or using this photograph, User is consenting to the terms and conditions of the Getty Images License Agreement. (Photo by Thearon W. Henderson/Getty Images) The Warriors have been vocal about ensuring Draymond Green never plays the center position again full-time as a member of the team. With the squad reportedly letting Kevon Looney test free agency, they will only have second-year center Quentin Post as its lone big man after exercising his franchise tender. Ayton's upside in the Warriors' motion offense is immense. He'll have more room to operate inside with Steph Curry on the floor along with easier rim opportunities around the basket with Green feeding him entry passes and high-low lob touches. The defensive and motor issues are a concern and will require Golden State to work through them during Ayton's highs and lows. From a maximization standpoint though, it may be the veteran big man's best situation to have an impactful contract year.

44-year-old CEO: This No. 1 trait separates the best employees from most other people—'I didn't get here' without it
A certain type of employee stands out from their peers, says Klutch Sports founder and CEO Rich Paul: someone who believes there's no limit to what they can do. Employees who are open to trying new projects at work — or who always raise their hand for opportunities, even if they've never done them before — are more likely to be noticed and rewarded by bosses, says Paul, who gained public recognition as NBA superstar LeBron James' agent and founded his sports agency in 2012. That's especially true for early career professionals and recent grads, Paul tells CNBC Make It. "Try to learn as much as you possibly can and have as much range as you possibly can," says Paul, who also hosts a class on MasterClass called "The Dealmaker's Mindset" that released on June 9th. "There's so much to do. You should never be [bored at] work."Paul learned this lesson firsthand, he added. Before becoming a sports agent, the Cleveland-native hustled to make ends meet. As a kid, he made money playing dice in the neighborhood. He worked at his dad's convenience store, where he learned about entrepreneurship, and built a local clothes-ironing business, he told "The Tim Ferriss Show" in October 2023. At age 21, Paul was running a jersey resale business — sometimes selling out of the trunk of his car — when he met James at an airport and struck up a friendship, he told The New York Times in October 2023. He worked as James' unofficial assistant for about five years before landing a role at Creative Artists Agency, one of the world's most well-known talent agency businesses, working under James' then-agent Leon Rose. After about four years at Creative Artists Agency, Paul founded Klutch Sports Group in 2012. His company now represents athletes including James, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and Las Vegas Aces center A'ja Wilson. "I didn't get here because I wanted to be a sports agent. Actually, that was the furthest thing from my mind," says Paul. "But I got here [by] not being complacent and understanding that I have no limitations in terms of my capabilities, and I can start in any role that I'm being asked to play." You can show your ambition at work by simply telling your boss that you're interested taking on new, challenging or exciting projects, says Jenny Wood, a bestselling author and former Google executive. "Agreeing to take notes for every team meeting or showing up early to help decorate for an office party," may not get you the promotion or raise you're looking for, Wood said in December. But "raising your hand to increase a given metric by 20% or volunteering to help drive a reorg and present it to leadership" can make you more successful, she said. If want to do a job you've never done before, you can tell your boss about your curiosity and eagerness to learn. Executives from Bill Gates to Mark Cuban say inquisitiveness is crucial to success, especially in the age of AI. "I can pretend that I'm gonna be able to predict where AI's going and the exact impact on the job market, but I'd be lying, I have no idea," Cuban said in October. "But I do know that I am gonna pay attention, and be agile, and be curious, and be able to adapt."
