Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain's Saanand Verma: It's the biggest compliment for an actor when fans copy his dialogue

Time of India19-06-2025

While TV shows and films may come and go, iconic dialogues stay with us for a much longer time, says actor
Saanand Verma
. The actor, who is known for his show Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain and has been part of films such as Raid, Mardaani and Chhichhore, says that he loves it when his fans recreate his dialogues.
'I remember I used to say Gabbar Singh's dialogues a lot. My father would often tell me, 'Come on, say Gabbar Singh's dialogue.' And I would say it at least 10 times a day, 'Kitne aadmi the?' That was the fun of it. When an actor performs, he does it with emotions and feelings. That's how he connects with common people. And when that connection happens, people enjoy it and even try to imitate it. So many kids say 'I like it,' so many people say ' Wah Beta, tum goo khake hi maanoge,' and many say 'who's your daddy.
' This is a big compliment for any actor when fans copy something of theirs, enjoy it, and have fun. What more could an actor want in life? I feel very lucky that this is happening to me,' he says.
As for feedback, the actor says that he really loves it when he gets feedback from his mom. 'It really matters to me that my mother likes my work. My mother watches Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain very regularly on &TV at 10:30 pm, and she feels very happy and proud of me.
My sister also watches all my work, and we discuss everything in detail. She is herself a very good actor, so she also guides me and shares her views. It gives me a lot of peace and happiness when my own people watch my work and we have these discussions.
It feels so good when they feel proud of me,' he says.
Appreciation is very important, but social media comments can sometimes be negative too, he says, adding, 'I don't think I have been trolled.
And even if I have, I don't really know about it. Earlier, I used to read comments and even reply to them. But now, because of a lack of time and also because sometimes there is negativity and some strange people say odd things. I don't focus on comments anymore. So I really don't know if I've been trolled or not.
And even if I have, it's okay. If not, that's okay too. The main thing is, when you are in public life and millions of people watch your work, it's not necessary that everyone will support you or praise you.
If you enjoy hearing praise, you should also be ready for criticism. An artist can't always expect appreciation. Sometimes you have to face criticism, too. I'm not afraid of it. I just try to do my work with all my heart. And if someone trolls me, let them. I even pray for them, may God keep them happy. I have no enmity with anyone. I'm friends with all, enemies with none.'
Talking about his upcoming track in the show Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain, he says, 'In my upcoming track in Bhabi Ji, the light moment is that I want to fulfil a big dream of mine. I want lightning to strike me from the sky, and I want my whole body to turn blue because of it. For this, I've even made a device that I carry around and keep saying, 'Let there be lighting! Let there be light!' So this is going to be a very fun and interesting track that is coming soon.

Raid vs Mr Bachchan Explained: How different is Ajay Devgn's crime thriller from Ravi Teja starrer?

Raid, starring Ajay Devgn in the lead role, hit the big screens on March 16, 2018. Following the success of the crime thriller, it was remade in Telugu as Mr Bachchan, with Ravi Teja headlining the remake. If you haven't watched both films, here's a quick recap on both of them and how different they are from one another. What is Ajay Devgn starrer Raid's story? Raid features the story of Amay Patnaik, an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer who gets transferred to Lucknow along with his wife, Malini. One fateful day, he receives an anonymous tip about black money hoarded by Rameshwar Singh. With Singh managing to evade income tax raids for many years owing to his power and influence, Amay and his team decide to conduct the raid after careful planning. Despite opposition from Rameshwar Singh, Amay begins his raid, searching every nook and cranny of his residence. A frustrated Rameshwar seeks help from the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, but Patnaik doesn't back down, highlighting how he comes under the jurisdiction of the Central government. With no avail, Singh even meets the Prime Minister of India, where a calm and calculated Amay responds that he'll stop the raid only if an official order is faxed to him. Fearing the media debacle, the PM doubles down. With no option left, Rameshwar Singh threatens Malini's life, which makes Amay furious, but he quickly composes himself. With a final battle being faced by the team, Singh is eventually defeated and arrested with the help of the Special Police Force. How does Mr Bachchan differ? Mr Bachchan, starring Ravi Teja in the lead, takes a more commercial treatment to the story, straying away from the original movie's subtle tone. With more focus on action, the protagonist Anand (aka Mr Bachchan) is a tough Income Tax Officer who is daring enough to take on anyone. Owing to his nature, he gets suspended, which is when he goes back to his hometown and falls in love with Jikki. The first half of the Telugu-language movie narrates how Mr Bachchan tries to woo the girl, who eventually becomes his lover. Coming to the second half, the actual raid starts at the home of Mutyam Jaggayya. As the Harish Shankar directorial crafts the protagonist to be more gleeful and humorous, it strays away from Amay Patnaik and his calm and calculated demeanor. As most actions conducted by Rameshwar Singh and Mutyam Jaggayya are similar, Mr Bachchan ends with a stereotypical fight of one man saving the day.

Raid 2 on OTT: Mixed reactions flood social media, netizens claim the Ajay Devgn starter ‘misses the tension of part 1'

Ajay Devgn is back as the unshakable IRS officer Amay Patnaik in Raid 2, and if you've missed him in a no-nonsense, destroy-everything-in-my-way mode avatar, this sequel promises more of the same. Just released on OTT, the film picks up seven years after Raid (2018), with Devgn's character once again chasing the trail of corruption, this time targeting a revered yet dangerously deceptive politician played by Riteish Deshmukh. Ajay Devgn Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, the sequel introduces new characters and higher stakes. Vaani Kapoor steps in as Malini Patnaik, replacing Ileana D'Cruz, while Deshmukh's portrayal of Dada Manohar Bhai adds a fresh antagonist to the mix. Early viewers, however, are split. The internet is abuzz with opinions — some praising the performances, others disappointed by the storytelling. 'Just finished watching Raid 2 Rating - 3.75/5. I am convinced once again that Twitter ki janta doesn't like good movies,' one user posted on X. 'Though the film is not as hard-hitting or effective as its prequel, it is definitely not a bad film. A great watch. Ajay's acting is good too.' Another review was more upbeat: 'Recommended weekend OTT watch #Raid2. Good performances and a continuation of the original storyline.' But not everyone was sold. One post read: '#Raid2 - Not good turnover this time! Part 1 had novelty & tension, but this feels generic... neat setup & few fine stretches but needed stronger conflict & drama. BELOW PAR.' Another pointed out: '#Raid2Review: Story is strong but storytelling lacks punch. Ileana had depth in Part 1, Vaani falls short. Ajay is decent, but not at his best. Ritesh outshines. Saurabh Shukla's role is cleverly and symbolically written. Some scenes feel repetitive. Music underwhelms. ☆☆' While Raid 2 might not pack the same punch as its predecessor, fans of Devgn's charisma and gritty face-offs will still find plenty to appreciate. Whether it'll leave a lasting impact like the original, well, that is up for debate!
