Ceres Pizza

Time Out24-07-2025
Yes, we're all tired of standing in line for the hottest new food in NYC. And yet, here we are, still waiting under the blazing sun for the chance to score a pie from the new pizza shop Ceres. After a buzzy opening due to the quality of the slices and the pedigree of the chefs (how often do Eleven Madison Park alums open a slice shop?), a nod from Dave Portnoy's viral pizza reviews and a shout-out from Jimmy Fallon made it nearly impossible to get your hands on a pie.
Now that the folks at Ceres have become more accustomed to being the belle of the pizza ball, they've got a good system for slinging 'em out from their tiny oven on Mott Street. You'll have to show up hours before you're ready to eat (they open at 11:30am), wait for your chance to put your name down inside their frills-free shop, and then wait…again. The menu is limited, but you'll just have to trust the process.
Go for the white pie, topped with crème fraîche, sweet onions and salty, buttery pancetta, and then covered with a celebratory handful of chive confetti. The cheese, too, is a classic, but never plain, packed with San Marzano tomatoes and firm, fresh scamorza and then finished with half-melted, sharp-ish cheese and pocked with little burnt bubbles from the oven's heat. Every pie is served on top of a crust inspired by the crispy-crunchy, airy-chewy joy of baguettes.
Pie prices can soar to $60—the 'nduja, made with pork, burrata and aged balsamic for a spicy-and-sweet bite, is the spendiest—so be prepared for a little sticker shock. Then again, the 'Mommy's Little Meatball' shirts at the shop down the street cost half that, and you'll get a whole lot more use out of the memory of a Ceres slice.

Dave Portnoy says reading Kamala Harris' new book is a worse punishment than death

Barstool Sports boss Dave Portnoy has become the latest celebrity to mock Kamala Harris ' new book, as he claimed that reading it is 'a worse punishment than death'. Last Thursday, the former Vice President announced a book deal for her memoir about the 2024 election, titled '107 Days.' Harris reflected on her failing as 'the shortest presidential campaign in modern history' and promised the book offered a 'behind-the-scenes look' at her campaign. However, Harris' announcement drew immediate mockery online and now Barstool boss Portnoy has joined the pile-on. In an interview on Fox Business, it was revealed that Barstool Sports will be using Harris' book as a punishment in their fantasy football league. Portnoy's colleague Jack Mac revealed the information in a TikTok - which was played in the interview. He said: 'If you finish last place in your fantasy football league this year, you will be locked in a room with no phone until you finish reading every single page of Kamala Harris' new book'. 'Some people say there's no punishment worse than death, I think this one is.' - Dave Portnoy @stoolpresidente says there's not much worse than being forced to read Kamala Harris' new book. — Varney & Co. (@Varneyco) August 4, 2025 Fox host Stuart Varney then asked Portnoy about the idea, to which he said: 'Some people say there's no punishment worse than death, I think this one is!' Portnoy went on to admit that the cruel punishment was not his idea and instead attributed it to the 'weird brains' inside the Barstool offices. It serves as the latest blow to Harris regarding her new book after critics taunted her for wasting billions of dollars on her campaign, including payments to prominent celebrities. 'Writing a memoir about being a loser is a choice,' White House Deputy Press Secretary Abigail Jackson wrote on X. It is unclear exactly how much money Harris paid to Beyonce for her endorsement, although according to a Federal Election Commission (FEC) filing, the campaign payed the singer's production company, Parkwood Production Media, $165,000 for 'campaign event production.' 'Trying to sell some books to pay down your $5 million debt to Beyoncé for that endorsement?' Nick Sortor wrote. 'I can't wait to hear the inside story about how you burned $1.5B in 107 days and accomplished absolutely nothing,' wrote Jim Hanson. 'Does the book include how much you paid for endorsements and cringe performances at your astroturfed rallies?' wrote Eric Daugherty on social media. Harris announced Wednesday she would not run for governor of California to replace outgoing Gov. Gavin Newsom, triggering speculation that she would run for president again. 'In recent months, I have given serious thought to asking the people of California for the privilege to serve as their governor,' she wrote in a statement. 'I love this state, its people, and its promise. It is my home. But after deep reflection, I've decided that I will not run for governor in this election.' Harris' long-awaited decision takes place after several California Democrats announced their campaigns, not waiting for the former vice president to rule out a possible run.

Machine Gun Kelly shocks fans with spot-on impression of a major star, can you guess who?

Machine Gun Kelly has shocked fans with his spot-on Jim Carrey impression. The 35-year-old music artist was a guest on The Tonight Show on Monday night, where he revealed his shocking ability to emulate the 63-year-old actor. MGK, whose real name is Colson Baker, was prompted to do his best Carrey impression after host Jimmy Fallon pulled up a tweet he posted on August 2 that read: 'Growing up, Jim Carrey was dad. There's no other explanation for my rubbery face.' He then offered to show the audience exactly what he meant as he said, 'I can do two Jim Carreys if you want.' First, the Cliché hitmaker remarkably mimicked Carrey in his popular film How the Grinch Stole Christmas. The rapper-turned-rocker also shocked viewers as he pulled his best Ace Ventura: Pet Detective expression. View this post on Instagram A post shared by The Tonight Show (@fallontonight) Not only did he manipulate his face to reflect the famous actor's, but he also recited a lengthy line from the movie script without stuttering or missing a beat. It comes after MGK was spotted out in the Big Apple with his 16-year-old daughter Casie. The musician, who is promoting his new album Lost Americana, was stylishly dressed in olive green cargo pants, a clinging baby blue sweater, and white sneakers. In addition to Casie, he became a dad for the second time earlier this year when he welcomed a baby girl named Saga Blade Fox-Baker with ex-girlfriend Megan Fox. While appearing on the Today show's video series 8 Before 8 in July, he revealed that he picked his younger daughter's name. 'Well, I lost the first one and won the second one,' he answered when asked, 'As a father of two girls, what was the name choosing process like?' He elaborated, 'When you are 18-years-old and you go to her mother and you go, "What if we named our kid Kid?" I get why she's like, "Hey man, shut up."' He confessed with a laugh, 'That was one of the names. I was like, "If her name was Kid, that would be sick."' The Cliché hitmaker remarkably mimicked Carrey in his popular film How the Grinch Stole Christmas And while on Today in June he explained the meaning behind his newborn's name. 'She is an epic story. That's what saga means,' he said of the moniker. Referencing his ex Megan's prior miscarriage, He added, 'Her journey, the five years of her culmination of coming, disappearing, coming back again, disappearing, coming back again.' He also connected the name to his Norwegian background, stating, 'That's the Nordic goddess of storytelling. So, she has a storytelling future ahead of her.' Fans previously mistakenly thought the exes had named their daughter 'Celestial Seed' due to the caption MGK used when announcing her birth. Sharing an Instagram video hold his baby girl's tiny hand in March, he captioned, 'She's finally here!! our little celestial seed. 3/27/25.'

Dave Portnoy reveals Barstool Sports passed on WNBA star Sophie Cunningham's podcast

Dave Portnoy is no stranger to partnering with athletes for Barstool Sports podcasts, but he recently turned down the chance to work with Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham. Cunningham, who has seen her fame skyrocket after teaming up with Caitlin Clark, recently announced a new podcast alongside Complex producer and 'Summer House' reality star West Wilson. And while Portnoy had the pair record a test episode for his company, the show ultimately landed at Colin Cowherd's 'The Volume' network after the Barstool boss felt his business was 'getting screwed' in negotiations. 'It wasn't so much her, any time I have to deal with agents, it's hard,' he revealed on 'The Unnamed Show.' 'I really thought we would be carrying so much of the weight, marketing, all this s***, and her focus wasn't going to be the podcast. It was just one amongst 9,000 things she was doing. And so it felt like we were getting screwed.' Portnoy added that the deal was nearly signed before he ultimately walked away. Dave Portnoy just revealed that he actually passed on Sophie Cunningham and West Wilson's new podcast. 🫖 — Page Six (@PageSix) August 4, 2025 'So now, I like her but I'm kind of rooting against her,' he said. After joining the Fever this offseason and teaming up with Clark, Cunningham has seen her fame rise massively, topping one million followers each on TikTok and Instagram and scoring an endorsement deal with Arby's of late. However, Portnoy revealed on 'Unnamed' that Cunningham wasn't the only athlete he recently passed on. He shared to co-hosts Ryan Whitney and Kirk Minihane that he was in talks to add a hockey show with NHL star brothers Brady and Matthew Tkachuk. Former NHL player Whitney, though, already hosts Barstool's hit hockey show 'Spittin Chiclets' alongside fellow ex-player Paul Bissonnette, and Portnoy ultimately decided not to go into business with the Tkachuks. 'Chiclets is huge, the No. 1 hockey podcast,' he said on 'Unnamed,' as reported by Awful Announcing. 'Is it like this enormous cash cow like [Pardon My Take']? 'No…Hockey isn't football. It just isn't. You don't have the advertising coming into it… If it was a football podcast, I'll keep adding football because advertisers can't get enough. Give me football. They're dying to spend on football. You don't have that in hockey.' He later continued: 'It's going to be a lot of stress in my life to not make a lot of money, but just have a cool podcast. At this point, is it worth it? And in the end, I don't think it is. It's just going to add f***ing a ton of stress.' Brady and Matthew, of the Senators and Panthers respectively, are both multi-time All-Stars but Portnoy evidently didn't think they would be a good enough investment for his company. Barstool already has (separate) shows with basketball player Patrick Beverley and former NFL star Arian Foster. The popular 'Bussin with the Boys' podcast, hosted by ex-NFL players Taylor Lewan and Will Compton, was also previously part of the Barstool network before departing the company in January.
