New Delhi [India], June 19 (ANI): Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annapurna Devi on Thursday praised the Centre's 11 years of governance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that the journey has been delightful.
Speaking to the media, the Union Minister asserted that India has progressed in every sector from 2014 to 2025.
'This journey of 11 years has been delightful. India has progressed in every field from 2014 to 2025. Today, people are moving forward with positivity...Today, women are progressing in every field..We are working towards women's nutrition, safety, protection and women empowerment,' Annapurna Devi said.
Over the last ten years, India's global footprint has expanded thereby ensuring India's voice resonates across global platforms. From the presidency at the G20 Summit, to initiatives such as the Vaccine Maitri program, in the last 11 years, India has emerged as a global leader through impactful initiatives that blend vision with execution.
India's presidency of the G20 spotlighted the Global South and delivered concrete outcomes, including the launch of the Global Biofuels Alliance. Whether through diplomacy, humanitarian aid, or strategic defence, India has crafted a new narrative of influence and self-reliance.
In the last 11 years, India has stepped up as a global leader through impactful initiatives that blend vision with execution. This is reflected across areas such as climate change, energy transition, public health or artificial intelligence. India shows that it has driven conversations and crafted coalitions that put the nation's priorities at the centre of global discourse.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership has anchored these efforts in responsibility and inclusivity, ensuring India's voice resonates across global platforms.
The global leadership prowess of India was reflected during the G20 presidency, where a major highlight was the unanimous adoption of the New Delhi Leaders' Declaration, despite deep divides on global issues like the Ukraine conflict. This achievement underscored India's growing stature as a consensus builder and its ability to lead amid global uncertainty.
Expanding India's global diplomatic presence, since 2014-2024, India has opened 39 new embassies and consulates, bringing the total number to 219.

Five petitioners write Open Letter to CJI Gavai, urge early deadline for restoration of J&K's statehood
New Delhi: Five petitioners in the Article 370 case have shot off an open letter to Chief Justice of India B R Gavai urging him to constitute a bench to hear petitions on the unconstitutionality on the removal of Jammu and Kashmir's statehood, an early deadline for its restoration and ensuring that no government in future abrogate statehoods. They said they are 'concerned' that the government might cite the Pahalgam attack to again delay the restoration of statehood, which has been promised repeatedly by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Parliament. They wanted the Chief Justice to take suo-motu cognizance of the Open Letter and constitute a bench to decide on the petitioners - former Group of Interlocutors for Jammu and Kashmir Radhakumar, former Home Secretary G K Pillai, Major General Ashok K Mehtra (retired), Air Vice-Marshal Kapil Kak (retired) and former Secretary Inter-State Council of India Amitabha Pande - will also be urging MPs across to take up the issue in the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament.'Not only is that argument (Pahalgam) not tenable, it can be argued that this is exactly the time to do so. Five arrested in Bangladesh for raping Hindu woman, circulating video; MEA urges protection of minorities
Bangladesh police arrest accused for raping Hindu woman (Image credits: ANI) Police in Bangladesh have arrested five individuals in connection with the rape of a Hindu woman and the circulation of a video of the victim on social media. The incident took place in Ramchadrapur Panchkitta village under Muradnagar police station in Comilla district on Thursday. According to a police statement reported by ANI, the main accused, 36-year-old Fajr Ali, was caught by local residents while allegedly raping the wife of an expatriate from the same village. He was beaten by the villagers but managed to flee the scene. "Some people present at the scene immediately recorded a video of the victim and spread it on social media," the statement quoted by ANI added. The disturbing footage, which went viral, shows the victim naked and pleading for her dignity. A case has been registered at Muradnagar Police Station. Authorities have arrested Fajr Ali along with four others who allegedly recorded and circulated the video. Police confirmed that legal proceedings are underway against all five accused. The incident comes amid growing concern over violence against religious minorities and women in Bangladesh. On May 31, various organisations held a human chain and protest rally in front of the national press club in Dhaka, condemning violence against minority communities. The protest was organised by Sammilita Sanatan Parishad, a minority alliance. In response to recent incidents, India's ministry of external affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a June 27 briefing that it is the responsibility of Bangladesh's interim government to ensure the safety of Hindus and other minorities. He made the remarks in the context of an attack on a Durga temple. Earlier on May 16, thousands of women's rights activists gathered in Dhaka near the Parliament building, demanding equality and dignity for women. The rally, held under the slogan 'A March of Solidarity at the Call of Women,' aimed to protest efforts to curtail women's rights in the name of religion.
