Ranchi, Jul 29 (PTI) At least five Kanwariyas were killed and several injured in a road accident in Jharkhand's Deoghar on Tuesday, a police officer said.
Casualties may increase as the condition of many of the injured are serious, an officer said.
He said the district administration has been alerted and the injured were being rushed to nearby hospitals and primary health centres.

Mumbai, Jul 29 (PTI) Police on Tuesday arrested a 35-year-old woman teacher for allegedly making an obscene video call to a minor male student on a social media platform in Navi Mumbai, an official said on Tuesday. The Koparkhairne police took action against the teacher after the boy informed his parents about her act, he said. The parents lodged a complaint at the Koparkhairane police station, based on which case was registered against her under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against her, he said. 6 kg of ganja seized in Andhras Machilipatnam; 10 nabbed

The seizure was made under the Chilakalapudi Police Station limits. Of the 10 apprehended, four are juveniles, Machilipatnam Deputy Superintendent of Police Ch Raja said. He told reporters police were trying to trace the source of the narcotic and its end location. He said a special team has been formed to conduct undercover operations and eradicate the presence of marijuana from Machilipatnam. The Krishna district police earlier arrested 520 people under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and seized about 655 kg of ganja. 6 arrested on kanwariya's complaint of attack
Varanasi: Police arrested six persons accused of attacking a saffron-clad kanwariya after an FIR was lodged on his complaint on Monday night. The kanwariya was allegedly assaulted by a shoe trader and his companions while the pilgrim was chanting 'Bol Bam' slogans while passing through the area. This led to a violent clash between locals and kanwariyas in Rajatalab area on Varanasi-Prayagraj highway tense. DCP Gomati Zone Akash Patel said on Tuesday that FIR was lodged against six persons on complaint of the injured kanwariya. The alleged attackers, Noor Hasan, Sharafat Ali, Mohammad Latif, Munawwar and Alauddin from different localities under the Rajatalab police station area and Salamuddin of Mehandiganj, were arrested. He added that further investigation was in progress, while police and PAC were deployed to maintain law and order, especially on the kanwariya route. The assailants allegedly dragged them into a house near the shoe shop and beat them up. Both Kanwariyas escaped and informed their companions about the incident. In the meantime, a video of the beating also went viral, sparking anger among kanwariyas and villagers. They blocked the Jansa-Rajatalab road in protest and also indulged in vandalism and brick-batting. Police used mild force to disperse the gathering. After pacifying the situation, police lodged FIR and started arresting the assailants.
