Coolie vs War 2 North America advance booking: Rajinikanth's film races ahead with $1.06M, Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR follows at $168K
The advance booking of Coolie in North America currently stands at $1.06 million. It's become the fastest Tamil film to cross the $1 million mark in its pre-sales in North America. This includes $850K from just the cinemas in the US alone, where it's sold over 35,000 tickets already. It's releasing with 1147 shows at 430 locations across the US, as per Sacnilk.
With this milestone, Coolie has entered the short list of Tamil blockbusters which hit the $1 million mark through just its advance booking in North America. The other members of this coveted club include another Rajinikanth action drama, Pa Ranjith's Kabali (2016), which stands at $1.92 million, followed by another Kanagaraj action thriller, Leo (2023) starring Vijay, which garnered $1.86 million in its North America pre-sales. The third spot, which Coolie now follows, is held by Mani Ratnam's 2022 historical epic Ponniyin Selvan I at $1.1 million.
Meanwhile, War 2 lags far behind in comparison. It's collected $168K through 1585 shows at 582 locations across North America. Out of this, $150.9K has been collected from the US cinemas alone. Given the current trajectory, War 2 may not be able to even hit the $1 million mark in North America pre-sales, which Coolie has surpassed already, even 10 days before its worldwide release. However, War 2 has managed to outperform NTR's previous action tentpole, Koratala Siva's Devara last year. While Devara hit the $100K pre-sales mark in 11 hours, War 2 has managed to do that in only seven hours, becoming the fastest Indian film to do so in North America.
War 2 is the sequel to Siddharth Anand's 2019 blockbuster War, starring Hrithik Roshan, Tiger Shroff, Vaani Kapoor, and Ashutosh Rana. While Roshan and Rana reprise their roles in the sequel, they're being joined by NTR and Kiara Advani among others. War 2 will mark Mukerji's first directorial venture outside of his home turf, Karan Johar's Dharma Productions.
War 2 is the next instalment in Aditya Chopra's ambitious YRF Spy Universe, which consists of blockbusters like the Tiger franchise, Pathaan, and War. Its next instalment is Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, which will release in cinemas this Christmas on December 25. Yash Raj Films is already reaping the benefits of its latest global box office success, Mohit Suri's romantic drama Saiyaara.

Meanwhile, Coolie is a part of the Lokiverse or the LCU (Lokesh Cinematic Universe), which already consists of Kaithi, Vikram, and Leo. Coolie also stars Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan, Pooja Hegde, and Sathyaraj, along with a cameo by Aamir Khan. Both Coolie and War 2 will release in cinemas worldwide on August 14.

Dhadak 2 box office collection day 4: Siddhant Chaturvedi-Triptii Dimri film struggles after slow start, earns ₹1 crore
Dhadak 2 box office collection day 4: Expectations were high for Dhadak 2, the Hindi language remake of the Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal. The film, helmed by Shazia Iqbal and starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri in lead roles, received mostly positive reviews upon its release. However, that has not turned into box office numbers as the film continues to struggle amid other new releases. (Also read: Son of Sardaar 2 vs Dhadak 2 box office report card: Which sequel fared better over the weekend?) Dhadak 2 box office collection day 4: Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri shared screen space for the first time in the film. Dhadak 2 box office update As per the latest update on Sacnilk, Dhadak 2 collected ₹1.04 crore on its fourth day of release (as per early estimates), its lowest so far. A dip in collection on Monday is expected, but that has hurt the momentum of the film, especially given that the film has not shown considerable growth during the weekend. Its highest single-day collections were recorded on Sunday, with ₹ 4.15 crore. The overall collection now stands at ₹ 12.44 crore. Dhadak 2 had an overall 12.75% Hindi Occupancy on Monday. Dhadak 2 is facing stiff competition from multiple releases, including Ajay Devgn's Son of Sardaar 2, animation epic Mahavatar Narsimha, and the blockbuster Saiyaara. About Dhadak 2 Dhadak 2 is a standalone sequel to the 2018 Dhadak. However, it is not connected to the original narrative or characters. It tells the tale of a law student who falls for his classmate, only for her family to harass him due to caste differences. It is produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, Zee Studios and Cloud 9 Pictures. Dhadak 2 was initially slated to hit the big screen in November 2024, but it experienced several delays following the reported hurdles with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). These hurdles were resolved only recently after the makers agreed to significant cuts and modifications to the film.

Son of Sardaar 2 box office collection day 4: Ajay Devgn's film witnesses drop amid tough competition from Saiyaara
Son of Sardaar 2 box office collection day 4: Ajay Devgn's comedy-drama released in theatres on August 1 and clashed with Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri's Dhadak 2. While the film has managed to stay ahead of Dhadak 2, it is still struggling at the box office and has now seen a decline in collections on its first Monday. Son of Sardaar 2 box office collection day 4: Ajay Devgn headlines the comedy with Mrunal Thakur and Ravi Kishan for company. Son of Sardaar 2 witnesses a dip on first Monday According to Sacnilk, Ajay's film closed its opening weekend with ₹24.75 crore (earning ₹7.25 crore on Day 1, ₹8.25 crore on Day 2, and ₹9.25 crore on Day 3). However, the film failed to maintain momentum at the box office on its first Monday, earning just ₹1.88 crore. The total collection of the movie now stands at ₹26.63 crore. While the film continues to race ahead of Dhadak 2, it has clearly faced tough competition from Saiyaara. Ajay's film earned slightly more than what Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda's Saiyaara collected on Monday, which marked its 18th day at the box office. Saiyaara earned ₹1.82 crore, according to the trade tracking site, taking its total box office collection to ₹301.29 crore. Mrunal Thakur, the film's female lead, was seen encouraging viewers to watch the movie in theatres and decide its fate for themselves. When a fan tweeted about the film's mixed reviews on social media, saying, 'The way the reviews are on Instagram and YouTube, I don't even feel like watching it anymore,' Mrunal responded, 'Most of the reviews are misleading… I would appreciate if you decide how YOU LIKE IT SIR!' About Son of Sardaar 2 The sequel to the 2012 hit Son of Sardaar follows the story of Ajay's character, Jassi, who is called to London by his wife (played by Neeru Bajwa), only to be blindsided by her demand for a divorce. Stranded and heartbroken, he crosses paths with Rabia (Mrunal Thakur), a spirited member of an all-girl wedding dhol band. Rabia's younger sister, Saba (Roshni Walia), is in love with the son of the stern and traditional Raja (Ravi Kishan), who insists on meeting her parents before giving his approval. The problem? Saba's parents are no more. To keep the romance alive, Jassi agrees to pose as her father, an ex-army colonel, while Rabia plays the mother. What follows is a hilarious and chaotic ride of twists, emotional beats, and drama. The film received mixed reviews from critics. However, Ravi Kishan, Sanjay Mishra, and Deepak Dobriyal's performances and comic timing were widely appreciated by both critics and audiences.
