Pirates turn it on at Orlando to bid ‘padre' José Riveiro farewell in style
They stepped it up in style with a domineering 3-0 Betway Premiership victory in the last match for outgoing coach José Riveiro at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday night, thanks to goals from Tshegofatso Mabasa in the 16th minute, Bandile Shandu (61st) and Kabelo Dlamini (66th).
Riveiro, who won five cup competitions in three years, has been granted an early release from his contract to join a new club and this was the last time he sat on the bench, with Mandla Ncikazi set to take over their remaining four matches.
The players went out to do their warm-ups wearing T-shirts with messages of appreciation. The fans were not to be outdone as they displayed a huge banner in the west stand screaming: ' Muchas gracias padre José Riveiro por siempre una leyenda . '

Many Orlando Pirates were not pleased with the club's decision to part ways with striker Zakhele Lepasa. The lanky forward scored 15 goals in 64 matches for the Buccaneers during his seven-year stay at the club. He also won four trophies; however, injuries have limited his game time in the past few seasons, and some fans believe he hasn't reached his full potential. Having left Pirates, Lepasa is now a free agent and has been linked with various clubs such as Kaizer Chiefs and Durban City. Last season, the striker failed to make an official appearance for the Buccaneers due to injury. In July, the team travelled to Spain for their pre-season training and Lepasa was one of the few players who did not join. Many fans feel the striker was unfortunate with injuries over the years. 'We'll challenge everything,': Nabi on Chiefs title chances
Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi says his side will compete for everything this coming season. Amakhosi are involved in the CAF Confederations Cup, Betway Premiership, Carling Knockout and the Nedbank Cup. Their season kicks off against Stellenbosch in Cape Town next weekend. 'How we're approaching the season with the league, the Nedbank Cup and the CAF Confederations Cup is to take game by game and do everything we can in every game to win that game,' Nabi told the media. 'Maybe it's not gonna be possible to win all the games, maybe it's gonna be possible but we gonna challenge for every game in whatever capabilities that we will be in. 'To challenge in every game and every competition and after that we will see where we stand,' Nabi added. In his first season, the Tunisian finished ninth in the league but secured the Nedbank Cup. Another poor season for Nabi, could force the Kaizer Chiefs management to sack him. The team will not compete in the MTN8 competition, which kicks off this weekend. So far, Amakhosi have signed six players, but none of the new players impressed during pre-season.
