Jivraj bizman loses Rs 18L in flight ticket scam
Ahmedabad: A 39-year-old businessman from the Jivraj Park area of the city filed a complaint of criminal breach of trust against a Mumbai agent who allegedly cheated him out of Rs 18.62 lakh by not booking flight tickets after taking money from him. The complainant registered the complaint on Friday against the agent from Mumbai. The complainant stated that he was dealing in taxi and flight ticket bookings, and in 2023, he received a WhatsApp message from the accused in Mumbai, stating that he was running a holiday company with a good facility for booking flight tickets at reasonable rates. "I requested verification of the documents for their company, and they sent copies of their Aadhaar card, PAN card, and GST registration, which built my trust. I started booking flight tickets for my customers through them, transferring booking payments to their account before each booking." During this period, a resident of Bharuch contacted him for a group booking inquiry for 26 people from Coimbatore to Mumbai and Mumbai to France (Lyon) return tickets. "Other customers also made group inquiries, and I booked a total of 60 flight tickets through the Mumbai company, transferring a total of Rs 18.62 lakh," the complaint mentions. Househelp steals cash from actress, FIR lodged
Mumbai: A 24-year-old actress lodged a complaint against her househelp for stealing lakhs of cash from her Andheri residence. An FIR has been registered for the same. The actress said in her complaint that she had hired a househelp, Sachin Kumar Chaudhari (27), in January for cooking and cleaning and he worked every day at her residence. On July 6, she had Rs 7 lakh cash in her cupboard, but found only Rs 2.5 lakh left by July 9 when she opened the drawer to send some money to her mother. Not finding the money anywhere, she confronted Chaudhari and asked him to empty his pockets, at which he grew nervous. He threw some cash on the floor and ran away. The actress later counted the money. It was Rs 50,000. She called Chaudhari and asked him to return her balance cash. He visited her but did not bring the money. One dead, another injured in elephant attack in Keonjhar
Keonjhar: A wild elephant attacked a contractor's camp near Pichhulabeda village in Patna range, killing one person and seriously injuring another on Friday night. Two others managed to escape unhurt. The deceased has been identified as Biranchi Jena (40), a native of Dharmasala in Jajpur district. The injured, also named Biranchi Jena (60) from Badachana area, was initially treated at Patna community health centre before being shifted to Keonjhar district headquarters hospital in critical condition. The victims, both masons, were sleeping in a tent at the construction site of a bridge over Pichhulabeda canal when the incident occurred. According to eyewitnesses, the tusker suddenly charged at the tent, crushing it while two workers managed to flee. "The family of the deceased will receive Rs 10 lakh compensation as per govt rule," said Bana Bihari Sardar, forest range officer of Patna range. The tusker is currently camping in Atei reserve forest near Ghatagaon range. Last week, the same elephant had damaged a motorcycle near Draupadi hill road even as the rider escaped unhurt.
