New on Peacock in August 2025 — all the movies and shows to watch
Case in point: 'The Phoenician Scheme' landed at the very end of July, but its streaming release was announced so late it's effectively part of August's hype. Starring Benicio del Toro, the thriller kicks off a month full of high-stakes drama and espionage.
August also brings the debut of 'Borderline,' a dark comedic stalker thriller starring Samara Weaving as a pop star in peril. For reality fans, the 'Love Island USA' season 7 reunion drops on August 25, promising to spill all the behind-the-scenes tea from the summer of love, heartbreak and Casa Amor chaos.
Meanwhile, 'Twisted Metal' season 2 continues through August with more demolition derby madness. New episodes each week build toward a climactic finale at the end of the month.
Whether you're in the mood for romance, thrills, or complete carnage, Peacock's August lineup has something for every kind of viewer.
'The Phoenician Scheme' is a typical Wes Anderson joint that follows ruthless tycoon Anatole 'Zsa-zsa' Korda (Benicio del Toro) after he survives his sixth assassination attempt.
Determined to protect his crumbling empire and a wildly ambitious infrastructure project, Korda names his estranged daughter Liesl (Mia Threapleton), a nun-in-training, as his heir. Joined by her socially awkward tutor Bjorn (Michael Cera), the trio embarks on a surreal, globe-trotting mission to secure support for Korda's 'Phoenician Scheme.'
Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips.
Along the way, they encounter eccentric investors and dignitaries played by a star-studded cast including Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johansson, Riz Ahmed and Bryan Cranston.
Stream on Peacock now
'Borderline' is a funny psychological thriller starring Samara Weaving as Dea, a former pop sensation trying to live a quiet, reclusive life in a remote desert home.
Her fragile peace is shattered when a dangerously delusional fan, played by Ray Nicholson, breaks in with a twisted plan: to force Dea into marrying him. Initially a tense hostage situation, the story quickly twists into something far more unusual, with captor and captive roles overlapping.
Written and directed by 'Cocaine Bear' scribe Jimmy Warden, the movie is an absolute ride. If you're into unhinged thrills and laugh-out-loud moments, it's definitely worth watching. By the time the wedding scene rolls around near the end, your stomach will probably hurt from laughing.
Stream on Peacock starting August 1
Hosted by Ariana Madix, now joined by reunion master Andy Cohen, the 'Love Island USA' season 7 special brings back this summer's standout Islanders for two hours of reflection, drama, and reconciliation
Filmed in New York City, the reunion reunites season 7's winners, fan-favorite couples, and bombshells for an unfiltered look at life beyond the Villa. Expect candid conversations about what went down in Fiji, behind-the-scenes tensions (including fallout from the Yulissa and Cierra scandal) and updates on which connections are still going strong.
This special episode is perfect for fans who want to relive the madness and find closure on all those cliffhangers.

Are Huda Mustafa and Louis Russell Dating?
Less than a month after ending things with Chris Seeley during the Love Island USA season 7 finale, it seems Huda Mustafa has moved on to someone new. At the world premiere of Weapons on July 31, Huda hit the red carpet holding hands with Too Hot to Handle alum Louis is currently starring in season 3 of Netflix's Perfect Match. Guess he doesn't end up finding a match on the show! Oh, and side note: This isn't the first time that Huda and Louis have been spotted together, either. Just a week earlier, a tipster for DeuxMoi caught the two holding hands at The Grove shopping mall in L.A. Iiiinteresting. In case you need a refresher, Louis appeared on Too Handle to Handle seasons 5 and 6, as well as Battle Camp season 1, so he's no stranger to reality TV. You can currently catch him on Perfect Match season 3, which was filmed a year ago during the summer of 2024. Following the first batch of episodes (spoiler!), Louis is paired up with Sandy Gallagher from The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On season apparently, these two don't work out in the long run. As for where Huda stands with Chris: During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Huda said she wishes her ex the best. 'I hope that he enjoys his life, but I am not besties with him,' she said. 'It takes more than just being cordial. It takes a lot for someone to be truly close with me.' It's unclear what the future holds for Huda and Louis (especially since the two have yet to even confirm that they're actually dating), but here's hoping Huda will have some more tea to spill during the Love Island USA season 7 reunion on August 25!

‘Twisted Metal' Just Set A Rotten Tomatoes Audience Score Record
There are many high profile video game adaptations these day, from The Last of Us to Fallout in live-action, from Arcane to Cyberpunk Edgerunners in the animated world, but you might have overlooked one show in particular: Twisted Metal. If you even knew that this show existed, you can find it on Peacock, and it's just entered its second season. The adaptation of the famed car combat game stars current Captain America Anthony Mackie, Brooklyn 99's Stephanie Beatriz and a combination of wrestler Samoa Joe's body and Will Arnett's voice to make Sweet Tooth. It seemed like a recipe to be awful. Instead, it's good. It's very good. In fact it's so good that it's just become tied for the all-time audience score record among live-action video game adaptations. And really, it might be #1 if you take into consideration it had to get these scores across two seasons. The list: There are more coming, and we've heard news about upcoming God of War, Mass Effect and Assassin's Creed series heading to different streaming services. But that's the list so far. Things have gone better in animation with those projects attracting more praise. However, even in that list, it's only Cyberpunk Edgerunners that beats out Twisted Metal and Fallout with a 95% audience score. Even Arcane and Castlevania are lower. If we're doing movies, we've got all three Sonic movies at 93% or above, so clearly that has gone well. The recent huge-earner, Minecraft, has an 85%. FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder But as you can see from the TV shows, fans are notoriously hard to please. The Last of Us may have dozens of Emmy nominations but fans there have really laid into the show, especially in season 2. The Witcher, mainly an adaptation of the books, but heavily influenced by the games, has seen a rapid decline in quality. Fallout is the standout series, an adaptation of the world, not a specific game, with a dead-on vibe and a stellar cast with Ella Purnell and Walton Goggins. Twisted Metal is great. It really is. I played all these games growing up, and this is exactly the sort of violence and comedy mix a series like this should be. A highlight is the brilliant combination performance of Samoa Joe and Will Arnett as Sweet Tooth, a completely creative idea. Also, while I don't love him in all that much else, Anthony Mackie is fantastic here, and this, more than anything else, feels like a role he was born to play. If you're a fan of the games, you will not regret checking it out. Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, Bluesky and Instagram. Pick up my sci-fi novels the Herokiller series and The Earthborn Trilogy.
