The Accountant 2 Prime Video: Release date announced by Amazon

Express Tribune03-06-2025

Prime Video will release the action thriller sequel The Accountant 2 on June 5, Amazon announced Monday.
The film stars Ben Affleck reprising his role as Christian Wolff, a highly skilled CPA with autism.
The new instalment follows Wolff as he investigates the murder of a former associate who leaves behind a cryptic message to "find the accountant."
To aid in solving the case, Wolff enlists the help of his estranged younger brother Braxton, played by Jon Bernthal.
According to Amazon MGM Studios, 'Christian Wolff has a talent for solving complex problems. When an old acquaintance is murdered, leaving behind a cryptic message to 'find the accountant,' Wolff is compelled to solve the case.'
The Accountant 2 received mixed reviews, with USA TODAY movie critic Brian Truitt awarding it two and a half stars out of four.
Truitt noted the film 'subtracts the math, adds country line dancing, and doubles down on brotherly bonds,' resulting in a 'crime thriller sequel that's not as winning but still mostly satisfying.'
The first The Accountant film is also available to stream on Prime Video. Prime Video access comes with an Amazon Prime membership, which costs $14.99 per month or $139 annually, with discounted options for eligible customers.

Titles on Prime Video can also be rented or purchased without a subscription.
The sequel continues the story where the original left off, following Christian and Braxton Wolff as they uncover a deadly conspiracy while working alongside US Treasury Deputy Director Marybeth Medina, played by Cynthia Addai-Robinson.
Together, they face a ruthless network determined to keep their secrets hidden.
The Accountant 2 streams exclusively on Prime Video starting June 5.

Reacher season 4 recasts Jay Baruchel with Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette

Production on the fourth season of Prime Video's hit action series Reacher is underway, with Alan Ritchson set to return as the iconic Jack Reacher. However, the show has undergone a casting shake-up following the departure of Jay Baruchel due to an undisclosed personal matter. As first reported by Deadline, Baruchel, 43, was originally cast to play Jacob Merrick, a small-town police officer. But just weeks after the casting announcement, he exited the production, prompting a swift recast. Actor Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette has now taken over the role. Rodriguez-Marquette is best known for his performance as Chris Lucado in HBO's Barry. Baruchel, known for roles in How to Train Your Dragon, This Is the End, and BlackBerry, has not publicly commented on his departure or the circumstances behind it. He has been married to Rebecca-Jo Dunham since 2019. Season 4 of Reacher is slated for release in 2026 and is based on Lee Child's 2009 novel Gone Tomorrow, the 13th book in the bestselling Jack Reacher series. The show debuted in 2022 and quickly gained a strong following, with Ritchson's portrayal of the title character receiving praise for aligning more closely with the physicality of the literary version than previous screen adaptations. Tom Cruise previously played Jack Reacher in two feature films, beginning in 2012 under the direction of Christopher McQuarrie. Actor Jai Courtney, who appeared in the first film, recently reflected on missing out on the lead role for the TV series. Speaking to Forbes, he praised Ritchson's performance and expressed admiration for the actor's growing career, particularly his upcoming role in Netflix's War Machine alongside Courtney himself. Despite the casting change, anticipation remains high for the upcoming season.

Vogue faces backlash over Lauren Sánchez Bezos wedding cover amid Anna Wintour exit

Vogue is under fire from readers and critics following the release of its June 2025 digital cover, featuring Lauren Sánchez Bezos—newly married to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos—posing in her custom Dolce & Gabbana wedding gown. The cover, revealed on Instagram as the couple's opulent wedding wrapped up in Venice, Italy, quickly ignited public outrage. The backlash coincided with longtime Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour's announcement—made shortly before the cover dropped—that she would step down from her role after 37 years. While Wintour will remain global editorial director and Condé Nast's chief content officer, some commenters speculated her departure was timed to distance herself from the controversial decision. Far from being captivated by the gown or the couple's 'sprawling wedding weekend,' readers took issue with the choice of cover star. 'I can now see why Anna decided to get out before this cover dropped,' one user wrote. Another added, 'Did Anna seriously pick this as her last cover…' Further fueling the backlash were questions about the optics of privilege and influence. Sánchez, 55, has a reported net worth of $30 million, while Bezos, 61, is worth $226.7 billion. The couple reportedly spent $50 million on their wedding. One fashion photographer quipped, 'I didn't realize you could just buy a cover now 💀💀💀,' echoing skepticism over how Vogue selects its cover subjects. Others voiced frustration that Vogue missed a chance to spotlight women leading change. One commenter wrote, 'In a moment that could have elevated voices shaping the future, the spotlight went to a symbol of privilege, not progress.' Perhaps the most succinct response captured the public mood best: 'Read the f---ing room.'

Henry Golding, reported contender for James Bond role, calls it "every actor's nightmare'

Henry Golding shared his thoughts about the possibility of playing James Bond at the red carpet premiere of The Old Guard 2 in Los Angeles. 'I think that's every actor's kind of nightmare,' Golding told People, referring to taking on the iconic spy role. He noted that while actors may wish to bring fresh energy to a longstanding franchise, they face substantial expectations. 'Maybe I'm just a pussy. I don't know. But I think I would love it so much more if there wasn't that overhanging cultural pressure,' he added. Golding is among several actors under consideration for the next Bond, including Theo James, Regé‑Jean Page, Aaron Pierre, James Norton and Idris Elba. Daniel Craig last portrayed Bond in No Time to Die in 2021. Previous Bond actors include George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton and Sean Connery. The character was created by Ian Fleming in 1953 and first appeared on screen in Dr. No in 1962. In a related update, Amazon MGM Studios confirmed on June 25 that Denis Villeneuve will direct the next Bond film. Tanya Lapointe will serve as executive producer, with Amy Pascal and David Heyman in producer roles. Villeneuve said he aims to honour Bond's legacy while preparing for future stories, calling the opportunity 'a massive responsibility' and 'a huge honour.' Amazon MGM Studios has not yet named a writer or confirmed casting or a release date for the next film. Golding's remarks highlight the challenge actors face when stepping into widely recognised roles within major franchises like Bond.
