Henry Golding, reported contender for James Bond role, calls it "every actor's nightmare'
Henry Golding shared his thoughts about the possibility of playing James Bond at the red carpet premiere of The Old Guard 2 in Los Angeles. 'I think that's every actor's kind of nightmare,' Golding told People, referring to taking on the iconic spy role.
He noted that while actors may wish to bring fresh energy to a longstanding franchise, they face substantial expectations. 'Maybe I'm just a pussy. I don't know. But I think I would love it so much more if there wasn't that overhanging cultural pressure,' he added.
Golding is among several actors under consideration for the next Bond, including Theo James, Regé‑Jean Page, Aaron Pierre, James Norton and Idris Elba.

In a related update, Amazon MGM Studios confirmed on June 25 that Denis Villeneuve will direct the next Bond film.
Tanya Lapointe will serve as executive producer, with Amy Pascal and David Heyman in producer roles. Villeneuve said he aims to honour Bond's legacy while preparing for future stories, calling the opportunity 'a massive responsibility' and 'a huge honour.'
Amazon MGM Studios has not yet named a writer or confirmed casting or a release date for the next film. Golding's remarks highlight the challenge actors face when stepping into widely recognised roles within major franchises like Bond.
