5 best shows like ‘Untamed' to stream right now
Netflix's new mystery-thriller "Untamed" has had viewers glued to their screens.
Ever since its July 17 premiere, Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith's Yosemite-set mystery has continued to be one of the most popular watches on the streaming service. Every time I've checked, it's occupied the No. 1 spot in Netflix's top 10 shows list.
The show sees Eric Bana stepping into frame as Investigative Service Branch Agent, Kyle Turner, who is on the trail of a killer and grappling with his own past.
Given the show's popularity and the fact that it's only six episodes long, I wouldn't be surprised if many fans had already worked their way through the entire mystery and were on the hunt for another compelling watch to keep them occupied.
With that in mind, I've put together a round-up of five more shows with a similar vibe that I think you should check out next; you can find my list of shows like "Untamed" (and where to stream them) below.
The best shows like 'Untamed' and where to stream them
'Bodkin'
"Bodkin" might be more of a comedic series than "Untamed," but I think this Netflix series is every bit as compelling a mystery thriller as the streamer's more recent hit, and one that I think "Untamed" fans will enjoy.
This seven-part limited series revolves around three unlikely allies — disgraced Irish investigative journalist, Dove Maloney (Siobhán Cullen), American podcaster Gilbert Power (Will Forte), and his assistant, Emmy Sizergh (Robyn Cara) — who are thrown together to investigate a cold case (a trio of decades-old disappearances during Samhain) in the titular Irish town of Bodkin.
The trio finds that the people of Bodkin aren't exactly happy to discuss the disappearances, and as they keep digging, the stakes get way higher, and dark secrets start to come to light...

'Dark Winds'
AMC's "Dark Winds" feels like a very natural follow-up, to "Untamed," as it's also currently available on Netflix and follows officers tackling cases in another striking setting (the American Southwest)
The 1970s-set series follows Navajo Tribal police officers Joe Leaphorn (Zahn McClarnon) and Jim Chee (Kiowa Gordon) as they investigate a series of increasingly violent crimes on the reservation — mysteries that see both grappling with their own pasts and that force them to challenge their own spiritual beliefs.
Netflix only has the first two seasons at present, but the show was renewed for a fourth installment back in February 2025, so there's plenty more thrills to come.

'Department Q'
If you missed it earlier this year, then I'd recommend giving Scott Frank's "Dept. Q" a go, as this is another intriguing mystery thriller that will get its hooks into you.
If you tune in, you'll be swapping the vast expanse of Yosemite National Park for the streets of Edinburgh and following DCI Carl Morck (Matthew Goode), a no-nonsense English detective with a knack for cracking cases, but not for making friends in his Scottish department.
After an investigation gone wrong, he finds himself exiled to the basement and tasked with heading up "Department Q," a newly-formed cold case unit (a thinly-veiled PR stunt) to distract from the force's failings.
With the aid of a misfit team with everything to prove, he sets out to uncover the truth behind a missing persons case in textbook Carl fashion: rattling cages and refusing to take no for an answer.

'Mare of Easttown'
If you're on top of your detective stories from the past few years, then you'll no doubt have come across "Mare of Easttown," Brad Ingelsby's critically acclaimed HBO Max show, which many regarded as appointment viewing when it was on the air. If not, you've got a fantastic, suspenseful small-town crime drama to stream at your earliest convenience.
The series follows "local hero" detective sergeant Mare Sheehan (a phenomenal performance from Kate Winslet) as she tries to get to the bottom of a recent murder in the fictional suburb of Easttown, Philadelphia.

'The Sinner'
I'm rounding out this list with "The Sinner," a dark, unorthodox crime thriller anthology series that sees Detective Harry Ambrose (Bill Pullman) getting to grips with a series of murder cases and uncovering what drove the culprits to commit their crimes. It's a whydunnit, not a whodunnit.
Season 1 kicks things off with Harry investigating a young woman (Jessica Biel) who commits a brutal murder on a family beach trip, trying to understand exactly what could have triggered that killing.
It's gripping TV, and should be another solid watch. And with four seasons to stream, it should keep you locked in for some time to come.

‘Jurassic World Rebirth' Chomps Its Way Home This Week
The best thing about Jurassic World Rebirth is it sent the franchise back to basics. Figure out a story that necessitates a few characters ending up on an island populated by deadly dinosaurs and see what happens next. It's a formula that's worked in the past and worked again here, to the tune of well over $750 million and counting worldwide. However, if you missed the adventure in theaters or want to experience it again, you can do so at home this week. Universal just announced that Jurassic World Rebirth, directed by Gareth Edwards and starring Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali, will be available to rent and own digitally starting Tuesday, August 5. That'll be followed by 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD releases on September 9. As one would expect from a major blockbuster like this, the filmmakers have pulled out all the stops in terms of special features. There's an alternate opening and two deleted scenes, both of which focus on dinosaurs (which is what we want to see, right? Not just actors chatting) an extended behind-the-scenes documentary, gag reel, two feature-length commentaries, and much more. Here's the rundown. Alternate Opening Deleted Scene: RAPTORS – Featuring Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, David Iacono, Luna Blaise, and Audrina Miranda Deleted Scene: MUTADON ATTACK – Featuring Scarlett Johansson, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, David Iacono, Rupert Friend, Luna Blaise, and Audrina Miranda Jurassic World Rebirth: Hatching a New Era Gag Reel Meet Dolores – Meet the animatronic Aquilops with an extraordinarily lifelike personality. Munched: Becoming Dino Food – Get a victim's firsthand view inside the frightening jaws of deadly dinosaurs that munch, chomp, and chew their way into creating unforgettable death sequences. A Day at Skywalker Sound – Actress Audrina Miranda guides a personal tour of Skywalker Sound in California to meet the audio editors, foley artists, and mixers who design the movie's wide array of sounds. Hunting for Easter Eggs – Find out where to look for cleverly hidden Easter eggs that pay homage to everything from the first Jurassic Park film to other Steven Spielberg classics. Feature Commentary #1 – Director Gareth Edwards, production designer James Clyne, first assistant Director Jack Ravenscroft Feature Commentary #2 – Director Gareth Edwards, editor Jabez Olssen, visual effects supervisor David Vickery A pretty solid selection of features to go along with the movie itself. Will you be picking it up? Let us know. Want more io9 news? Amazon Is Laying Off Wondery Staff as It Rethinks Its Podcast Business
Amazon is reportedly laying off more than 100 employees as it overhauls its podcast business amid major shifts in the industry. Bloomberg first reported on Monday that Amazon is laying off about 110 staff from its Wondery podcast studio and shifting some shows to Audible, its other audio-focused subsidiary. As part of the shake-up, Wondery CEO Jen Sargent is leaving the company. The reorganization comes as the podcast industry faces its own 'video killed the radio star' moment, with creator-led, video-based shows surging in popularity and thus being more monetizable. The e-commerce giant sent Gizmodo the following statement about the changes: The podcast landscape has evolved significantly in the past few years, particularly with the rise of video-forward, creator-led content. These changes reflect that evolution and will streamline how Wondery integrates further into Amazon. By making these changes, we can better support creators in monetizing their content across multiple channels, help them expand their brand IP, and simplify the process for advertisers while making content more accessible to audiences wherever they prefer to consume it. This evolution builds on Wondery's early success with video-forward shows and positions us to better serve creators, customers, and advertisers. In a memo to staff obtained by Deadline, Steve Boom, Amazon's vice president of audio, Twitch, and games, said the rise of video podcasting has created 'different audience needs' and requires 'distinct discovery, growth, and monetization strategies' compared to traditional audio-only narrative podcasts. In the letter, Boom said that Amazon is reorganizing Wondery with its narrative podcasts like Dr. Death and Business Wars moving to Audible. The studio's chief content officer, Marshall Lewy, will also be headed to Audible. For Wondery's creator-led shows like Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert and Jason and Travis Kelce's New Heights, a new Creator Services team under Amazon's Talent Services division will be taking over. This team will continue operating the creator-focused podcast studio under the Wondery brand, working closely with a select group of top creators to expand their audiences and deepen their partnership with Amazon. Bloomberg highlighted LeBron James, who hosts the podcast Mind the Game and has served as a Prime Day spokesperson, as a blueprint for this new approach. Amazon originally acquired Wondery in 2021 for about $300 million, according to media reports. At its peak, the studio saw some of its hit podcasts like Dirty John adapted into TV shows. But Amazon isn't the only company that has poured big money into podcasting. Last year, Spotify reportedly signed a $250 million deal to continue managing sponsorships for Joe Rogan's podcast. Meanwhile, SiriusXM paid $125 million to poach Alex Cooper's Call Her Daddy podcast from Spotify. As competition has increased in the industry, there have already been some losers too. In June, Audacy, the radio giant owned by a group led by Soros Fund Management, shut down its podcast-focused Pineapple Street Studios. Public media is also facing challenges. The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), which helps fund National Public Radio (NPR), a pioneer in podcasting, is set to wind down operations and lay off most of its staff by September 30. This move comes as President Donald Trump has cut the nonprofit's funding.

When Was ‘Perfect Match' Season 3 Filmed?
Perfect Match may well be the final boss of reality tv dating shows. The Netflix show brings together alumni from other dating shows (primarily those that have shown on Netflix such as Love Is Blind, Too Hot To Handle, and Temptation Island, but, this season, familiar faces from the likes of Love Island and The Batchelor) Now, season 3 has been dropped on our screens and, well, we have questions! Specifically, a duo who met on this very season of Perfect Match are not only a confirmed couple but engaged and... expecting a baby. Yep, sorry for the spoilers, but Ollie (of Love Is Blind UK) and AD (of Love Is Blind) are very certainly together. They were spotted hanging out and being loved up last summer (as in summer 2024) and announced their engagement in a Love Is Blind reunion episode in March 2025. Back in May, they also announced that they are expecting a baby (too cute). So, with all that in mind, it's clear that a major chunk of time has passed between Perfect Match season three being filmed, and its eventual release this week. The news that Perfect Match was renewed for a third season was announced on June 27, 2024, a week after the second season wrapped. And it seems that the show began filming shortly after, which suggests that Ollie and AD have been loved up for around a year. We don't know if these two will be the winning couple for Perfect Match season three, but they definitely prove that love is real! Currently, the first six episodes of the season are available to watch on Netflix and three more will be made available on 8th August and the show will conclude on 15th August.
