'Best crime thriller of 2025' gets season 2 on Netflix after 26,100,000 views

Untamed saw Eric Bana lead an all-star cast alongside Sam Neill, Rosemarie DeWitt, Lily Santiago, Wilson Bethel and William Smillie. The six-part drama follows Kyle Turner (Bana), a special agent for the National Parks Service, as he takes on an investigation into a brutal death. However, the incident sends him 'on a collision course with the dark secrets within the park, and in his own past'. Many made their way through the episodes at warp speed, and, unsurprisingly, the show went on to top the global charts on Netflix with 26.1million views, and 127.1m hours watched. Metro branded it the best crime thriller of 2025 so far in a glowing five star review. Although there is currently no news on how the Untamed story will continue, after the first season wrapped up fairly neatly, we've had some insight to tell us the setting likely won't be Yosemite. Shedding light on what more episodes could possibly involve, co-showrunner Elle Smith told TV Insider: 'If we got the opportunity to do it again, it would be getting to explore a different park, a different case. 'We would do this forever if they let us, but we'll see. We'll see how many adventures Turner has left in him.' But what puts it head and shoulders above any of the crime thrillers Netflix has offered up so far this year – and more in the leagues of Broadchurch or Mare of Easttown – is the inventive setting, with a cast singing in perfect harmony. It's no easy task Kyle Turner is up against. Trying to enforce the rule of law on this wilderness is a fool's errand. CCTV is thin on the ground and the forensic experts called in are the type who specialise in vultures that pick over human remains. As the twists and turns take shape, bringing into question unsolved cases from years gone by, Untamed becomes a show you will struggle to look away from. You will gasp. You will sweat. ‘Amazing' Netflix drama called 'best murder mystery in years' confirmed for second season
A new Netflix drama that rocketed up the charts has been given an exciting update after leaving fans hooked Netflix's new murder mystery called one of the streamer's best shows of 2025 has been renewed for a second season. Drawing comparisons to HBO's hit drama True Detective, this six-part detective show scored rave reviews from fans and dominated the streamer's TV chart in July. Starring Eric Bana as Kyle Turner, a National Parks Service special agent, Untamed follows the grizzled investigator solving a young woman's mysterious death whilst struggling to come to terms with a family tragedy. Sam Neill and Rosemarie DeWitt also starred in the first season. Details about season two are sparse, but Deadline confirms Bana will return as Turner to solve another mystery. In a statement, the actor said: 'I am absolutely thrilled that we get the chance to bring another season of Untamed to life. Netflix renews Untamed for Season 2, with Eric Bana returning as Turner in a brand-new location and mystery. Netflix has officially renewed Untamed for a second season. The wilderness crime drama, which quickly climbed into the platform's Top 10, will return with a brand-new storyline and fresh challenges for its lead character, Kyle Turner. Eric Bana Returns As Turner Eric Bana will return as Turner, the tough ISB agent introduced in season 1. But this time, he is not going to be in familiar surroundings. Speaking to Netflix's Tudum, Bana said, 'I am absolutely thrilled that we get the chance to bring another season of Untamed to life. The response to Season 1 has been a testament to the incredible effort by our crew to deliver something truly unique. I can't wait to take Kyle on his next journey." This season will see Turner in a brand-new location, facing a completely different case. Unlike the first season, he won't have the advantage of knowing the land. Where Season 1 Left Off At the end of Season 1, Turner walked away from Yosemite after solving one of the most difficult cases of his career. He needed distance both mentally and physically. Season 2 picks up after this break. Co-creator Mark L. Smith told Netflix's Tudum, 'He's been to a lot of parks. He's been busy. This will be the latest and it'll be more impactful for him." He portrays Investigative Services Branch agent Kyle Turner, who leaves Yosemite National Park after closing "one of the most devastating cases of his career," according to an official synopsis. The sophomore season will pick up with a new park and a new mystery. Untamed, starring Eric Bana, has been renewed for Season 2! Season 1, following a National Park Service special agent working to enforce human law inside Yosemite's vast wilderness, is now playing.
