Lizzo Says Her Boyfriend Changed Her Perspective on the Term 'Weight Loss': 'Where Did It Go?'
During an appearance on On Purpose with Jay Shetty on Monday, April 7, the "Special" singer opened up about her "weight release" journey — and how her boyfriend changed her perspective.
"My man, he's so funny. He was the one that brought it to my attention at first. Because at first I was like, 'Oh my gosh I lost five pounds' and he was like, 'Where did it go?,'" Lizzo, 36, began.
She continued, "I was mad at him, I was like, 'Why would he say that?' but he was like, 'Where did it go?'"

Further elaborating, Lizzo said she realized she didn't want to "lose anything" — she wanted to "win."
"I want to be very intentional about the words that come out of my mouth because there's young people who are watching me and they're experiencing what I'm putting into the world," the "About Damn Time" singer said. "They're applying it to their own experience and their own life just like I did when I was a kid."
When Lizzo was growing up, she noticed "how the media treated people who gained and lost weight" — and that impacted her "brain chemistry."
"Be careful with your words because it can affect somebody in ways you don't even know," she concluded. "Even me releasing the weight has affected people and I take that seriously. I take that responsibility. And because of that I want to transmute it into something that makes people feel comfortable and less afraid of it."
Lizzo has been open about her "weight release" journey for over a year. In March 2024, the Grammy-winner spoke to The New York Times about wanting to be "methodical" and consistent when it comes to her weight loss process.

"I'm taking the time every day to put some love into my body," she said. "There is never a day when I regret taking a walk or doing some Pilates."
"I've been methodical, losing weight very slowly," she added, before responding to critics who argue that her losing weight goes against her former body-positivity stance. "My body is nobody's business."
As for her relationship with Wright, Lizzo confirmed she was dating him an April 2022 interview with Andy Cohen on his SiriusXM series Radio Andy.
In December 2022 appearance on The Howard Stern Show, she said, "I am very much in love with Myke. 100 percent. There's nobody else I'm going to be with for the rest of my life."

Sharon Stone says her explosive first meeting with Michael Douglas nearly cost her 'Basic Instinct'
Starring in "Basic Instinct" changed Sharon Stone 's life. But she says her past with costar Michael Douglas almost derailed her chances of getting the role. The legend goes that everyone turned down the role of ice-pick-wielding seductress Catherine Tramell in 1992's "Basic Instinct" except Stone. But despite being desperate to land the part, Stone had a hard time getting an audition. "Michael Douglas did not want to put his bare ass out on the screen with an unknown," Stone told Business Insider. "But that was also for a different reason: We had an argument prior to that." Stone revealed that before auditioning for "Basic Instinct," she and Douglas crossed paths at Cannes. It didn't go well. The two happened to be out with a group of mutual friends. Stone said she overheard Douglas talking disparagingly about someone she knew, and she spoke up to defend the person, which resulted in Douglas yelling at Stone, "'What the fuck do you know?'" "So he screams this at me across a whole group of people," Stone recalled. "And I'm not the person who goes, 'Oh, excuse me, superstar.' I pushed back my chair and said to him, 'Let's step outside.' That's how we first met." Stone said she and Douglas went outside, and she filled him in on what she knew about the person he was talking about. "And then we parted. I wouldn't say as best friends, but amicably," Stone said. "So, fast forward to casting 'Basic Instinct,' I don't think he wanted me to be his costar." Douglas did not reply to Business Insider's request for comment. In a statement to People, Douglas' rep said he "doesn't remember any argument in that timeframe" between them. "He actually only remembers seeing and meeting Sharon for the first time when he saw [director] Paul Verhoeven's screen test of her for 'Basic Instinct' and [Michael] said, 'Absolutely, she's the one,'" the rep added. Looking back now, Stone, 67, believes the tension between her and Douglas led to the movie's success, as her character is never intimidated by the tough detective investigating her, Douglas' character Nick Curran. "It worked great because I was not rattled if he yelled at me," she continued. "Eventually, we became the greatest of friends, to this day. I admire him tremendously."

Taylor Swift's Album Enjoys A Summertime Chart Revival
Taylor Swift's album Folklore doesn't need an excuse to rise on Billboard's charts. The once-surprise release remains not just one of the singer's most critically-acclaimed projects, but also a fan favorite among millions of Swifties. Folklore regularly appears on a number of tallies in the United States, and this frame is a fruitful one for the indie-leaning studio effort, which stands out from her discography for all the right reasons. Folklore Is One of Eight Swift Albums Charting This Week The Grammy-winning Album of the Year is the only title from Swift to rise on any ranking in the U.S. this week, and it manages to climb on each list on which it appears. Folklore lifts to No. 6 on the Top Alternative Albums chart, No. 14 on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums ranking, and to No. 61 on the Billboard 200. The set earns the greatest gain on that latter tally, where it improves by seven spots. Consumption of Taylor Swift's Folklore Grows Consumption of Folklore increased by just under 5% from one week to the next, which helps to explain its rise in the U.S. According to Luminate, the album moved just under 14,600 equivalent units between sales and streaming activity, up from 13,950 during the previous period. 'August' Fuels Swift's Return to the Spotlight Folklore has been back in the news recently, as it became Swift's latest album to reach half a decade on the Billboard 200. The title may have received a boost thanks to the renewed attention, or perhaps because the end of summer holds a special meaning for the project. Folklore includes the track 'August,' so streams and sales of that cut, which contribute to the success of the full-length, tend to grow toward the end of July and certainly as August begins. With August Here, Folklore Could Climb Again There's a good chance that since August 1 marks the beginning of a new tracking period, Folklore could climb again in a few days when Billboard publishes updated rankings. It may even rise once more as millions of fans return to 'August' and, in some instances, Folklore as a whole to honor that standout track.
