While an injury may keep Caitlin Clark from playing in the All-Star Game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, she's still representing the league by being there and appears to have a gameplan for sitting in the stands.
Speaking to the media ahead of the game, Clark said that in lieu of playing, she'll be doing her part by heckling the referees a bit. She joked that she would decide how much to heckle them once she learned who was there.
"I think I gotta heckle the refs a little bit," Clark said. "I don't know who's reffing yet, but that'll determine how much I'm going to heckle them. I mean obviously if they're at the All-Star game, usually it's some of the better ones. Maybe I can get a technical or something."
Clark has had no shortage of run-ins with WNBA officials in the month of July alone. Some have even blamed the officiating for the injury that is causing her to miss the All-Star Game.
Fans certainly appreciated the dig at the officials:
"She's so damn unserious! OMG Cait..we love you! Hahaha," one user replied.
"Of course," another said.
"I hope she gets the first ever technical in an All Star game."
Clark has also been there to show solidarity with the players in their battle for a new and more lucrative Collective Bargaining Agreement.
She showed up on the court for warm-ups wearing a "Pay Us What We're Worth" t-shirt.
"Honestly, I feel like that's where we're really fortunate is that we have those other deals. And I think that's one of the things we're in the room fighting for," Clark said today. "Like (Napheesa Collier) said, we should be paid more and hopefully that's the case moving forward as the league continues to grow. That's probably the most important thing that we're in the room advocating for."Caitlin Clark Has Hilarious Goal For WNBA All-Star Game first appeared on The Spun on Jul 20, 2025

Sparks star Cameron Brink returns from ACL injury, drains 3-pointer immediately in loss to Aces

More than a year after an ACL tear ruined her rookie season in the WNBA, Cameron Brink finally returned to the court on Tuesday night. Brink made her season debut with the Los Angeles Sparks in their 89-74 loss to the Las Vegas Aces on Tuesday at Arena, marking her first game action in nearly 13 months. Brink wasn't in the starting lineup on Tuesday, but she received a huge ovation from fans when she checked into the game late in the first quarter. She didn't waste any time, either, and immediately drilled a 3-pointer on her first attempt of the night. That, though, was about all Brink did. She took two other shot attempts from behind the arc and ended up finishing with three rebounds and an assist to go with her five points. The other two came from the free throw line in the fourth quarter. She only played about 13 minutes, too, while easing back into things. Brink first went down with the knee injury during a loss to the Connecticut Sun last June, just 15 games into her WNBA career. The former No. 2 overall pick had to be carried off the floor, and the team quickly confirmed that her ACL was torn. Brink has been sidelined ever since. Brink revealed on Saturday that she had been medically cleared to play again, and she started ramping up her activity quickly ahead of Tuesday's contest. Brink's return, however, wasn't enough to slow down A'ja Wilson and the Aces. Wilson dropped 34 points, 17 of which came in the first quarter alone, to lead them to the dominant 15-point win. She had 10 rebounds and shot 16-of-23 from the field, too. Jackie Young put up her first career triple-double with 18 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. It marked the fifth triple-double across the league this season, and the second in as many days following Skylar Diggins' on Monday night against the Connecticut Sun. Kelsey Plum led the Sparks with 22 points and eight assists in the loss, which snapped a five-game win streak. Rae Burrell put up 17 points and six rebounds off the bench, and Dearica Hamby finished with 15 points. Though it may take a bit for Brink to settle back in, she's at least finally in a spot to play again after a lengthy rehab derailed the start of her career.

Cameron Brink made her first Sparks basket since her 2024 injury count

Los Angeles Sparks forward Cameron Brink hadn't played in a basketball game since June 2024 before Tuesday night, and she made her first basket back count in front of the home crowd. As Brink returned to the Sparks from an ACL injury sustained during her rookie season, she nailed a 3-pointer to record her first WNBA points in more than a year against the Las Vegas Aces. Brink has been through quite an ordeal to get back to playing in the WNBA, and hitting a 3-pointer as your first bucket since your injury works as quite the welcome back to basketball. Brink's return is much needed for Los Angeles, as she can finally continue building on the early promise she showed in her brief rookie campaign. You have to love such a big basket for Brink after she's gone through so much to get it.
