Drone coalition allocates €20 million for purchase of reconnaissance UAVs
Source: Kateryna Chernohorenko, Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine for Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Digitalisation, as reported by European Pravda
Details: The Defence Ministry reported that the delivery of the equipment is expected within three months.
Chernohorenko said that thanks to these drones, the military can reconnoitre an area and increase the combat situation awareness of their units.
Background:
The coalition of drones was formed in February 2024 during the 19th meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (also known as the Ramstein format), an idea proposed by Latvia.
Latvia coordinates the initiative together with the UK. It currently includes 18 countries: Latvia, the United Kingdom, Australia, Czechia, Denmark, France, Estonia, Italy, New Zealand, Canada, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Germany, Sweden and Ukraine.
In July 2024, the countries participating in the drone coalition signed a Memorandum of Understanding under which they created a joint fund worth €45 million.
Since the beginning of this year, it has been expected that the members of the drone coalition would begin massive supplies of various types of drones to Ukraine.

Judge releases bizarre letter from would-be Trump assassin offering himself up for prisoner swap with Hamas, Iran, China or Russia
President Trump's would-be assassin, Ryan Routh, begged a federal judge to allow him to 'freeze to death In Siberia' as part of a prisoner exchange with Russia in a bizarre letter last month where he also offered himself up to Hamas and other US adversaries. Routh, who is currently locked up in a Miami federal prison as he awaits trial on the attempted assassination of Trump on his Palm Beach, Fla., golf course last September, bemoaned that he won't face the death penalty if convicted before asking Judge Aileen Cannon to 'trade me away' in the unhinged jailhouse letter, released Friday. '[W]hy is the death penalty not allowed, at nearly 60 a life of nothingness without love – what is the point,' Routh wrote in the June 29 letter to the judge overseeing his case. 'Why is it not all or nothing?' Advertisement 3 Routh allegedly hid in the bushes outside Trump's Florida country club armed with a rifle as the then GOP presidential nominee played a round of golf. MARTIN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE/AFP via Getty Images Routh, 59, noted that he had previously demanded to be included in a prisoner swap but never heard back, and asked Cannon to consider his loony request. 'I had wished for a prisoner swap with Hamas, Iran for a female protestor, or China for Jimmy Lai or one of the 40 others or to freeze to death in Siberia in exchange for a Ukrainian soldier so that I could die being of some use and save all this court mess – but no one acts,' he grumbled. Advertisement 'Perhaps you have the power to trade me away,' Routh wrote. 'What an easy diplomatic vitory [sic] for Trump to give an American he hates to China, Iran or North Korea or wherever as a gesture of peace in exchange for an unjustly held democratic prisoner – everyone wins.' In the rambling letter, Routh also informs Cannon that he will be representing himself in court moving forward, while slamming his lawyers. 'it was ridiculous from the outset to consider a random stranger that knows nothing of who I am to speak for me,' he wrote. 'That was foolish and ignorant, and I am sorry – a childish mistake.' 'I had thought these attorneys really wanted this case towards preserving democracy and freedom, but no, perhaps I was not the man they had wished for, and now we are a million miles apart,' Routh said. Advertisement 'I no longer want to listen to how horrible a person I am – I can beat my own self-up; I do not need help,' he continued, accusing his lawyers of 'selling hard to my daughter that I a peice of s**t [sic].' 'Best I walk alone.' 'On that topic of character, that my attorneys said we shall never tread, I am of the thought – what else is there if we do not have any character, morals, ethics, any substance at all, why live, why argue anything,' the would-be assassin rambled. 3 Judge Aileen Cannon, who is presiding over the Routh case, released the bizarre June letter on Friday. Advertisement 3 Routh faces life in prison if convicted of attempting to assassinate Trump. Andrew Leyden/ZUMA Press Wire / Prosecutors have said Routh methodically plotted to kill Trump for weeks before aiming a rifle through the shrubbery as the then-Republican presidential nominee played golf on Sept. 15, 2024. Before Trump came into view, Routh was spotted by a Secret Service agent. Routh allegedly aimed his rifle at the agent, who opened fire, causing Routh to drop his weapon and flee without firing a shot. Law enforcement obtained help from a witness who prosecutors said informed officers that he saw a person fleeing. The witness was then flown in a police helicopter to a nearby interstate where Routh was arrested and the witnesses confirmed it was the person he had seen, prosecutors have said. Routh faces a maximum penalty of life in prison if convicted.

Unrelenting violence in Ukraine is taking a ‘super personal' toll on Trump, daughter of president's envoy says: ‘Feels things very intensely'
President Trump has been deeply affected by the distressing images of barbarism and bloodshed coming out of Ukraine, according to the daughter of his top envoy to the country — and that may be motivating his 'major statement' about the war with Russia expected next week. Meaghan Mobbs, the daughter of retired Gen. Keith Kellogg, said the war's relentless casualties have become 'super personal' for Trump and that he feels an acute responsibility to end it himself. The toll of the destruction could also be behind the president's swift and unsparing change in posture when it comes to his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin. 'The thing about people get so wrong about the president — the president is a very personal person,' Mobbs told The Post. 'He feels things very intensely when he talks about seeing the satellite images of bodies on a field, and that he wants the killing to stop. That's not coming from a place of being pro-Russian,' she continued, referring to criticism the commander-in-chief has received for mentioning Russian losses. 'That's our place of being pro-human. He feels very personally about these things.' Mobbs has seen the violence firsthand, not just from her close relationship with her father but because she operates the RT Weatherman Foundation — one of the leading relief groups helping the Ukrainian military and citizenry survive the onslaught from Putin's forces. 3 Meaghan Mobbs is the daughter of US Gen. Keith Kellogg and a leading humanitarian in Ukraine. Michael Brochstein/SOPA Images / Shutterstock 'Things are really bad, and I can tell you they're really bad because I'm literally seeing them with my own eyes, or I'm literally experiencing this,' she said. The more than three-year war is reaching a pivotal moment, with Russia unleashing back-to-back record-breaking drone attacks in July and notching up a grim number of civilian fatalities. NATO jets were forced to scramble when Russian forces fired 728 Shahed and decoy drones along with 13 cruise and ballistic missiles on Tuesday night — just hours after Trump accused Putin of throwing 'bullsh-t' over peace talks. 'I didn't make any progress with him today at all,' Trump also said after another previous call with his counterpart. 'I'm very disappointed … I don't think he's looking to stop.' 3 Ukraine has been hit by mounting barrages frim Russia since Trump and Putin spoke in early July. Global Images Ukraine via Getty Images A 1-year-old boy was then 'deliberately' executed on Wednesday in a targeted drone attack in southern Ukraine — where terrified residents say they feel they are being hunted in a sick game of 'human safari,' officials said. Putin's defiance is a failure the president — who has long touted his ability to work with the Russian leader and even made campaign promises off it — has taken to heart, according to Mobbs. 'I think the president had just always wanted to directly manage the relationship with Putin, because he sees himself as the only one able to manage that relationship because of their connection,' she explained. Trump made it clear on the campaign trail that he 'has a desire to solve the war, and it's no small job,' Mobbs said. 3 President Trump said he was issuing a 'major statement' about the war in Ukraine next week. Getty Images 'He always knew that he was going to be the point person for Russia,' she added. The frustration with Moscow, amplified by the heart-wrenching images of escalating violence, including a picture of the toddler's lifeless body and then a maternity ward full of newborns being wrecked in a drone attack, may have prompted Trump to take decisive action. 'I'll have a major statement to make on Russia on Monday,' Trump told NBC News on Thursday. 'You'll be seeing things happen.' Trump did not elaborate on what he meant, but it has been speculated that a huge tariff — 500% on any country buying Russian oil — that's been proposed in the Senate could be his trump card. Whatever the statement is, the coming week could shape up to be the most crucial moment in the war — and one that Mobbs thinks has been an inevitable conclusion since Russia first invaded Ukraine in February 2022. 'We've never been neutral. We've always been going to do what is in the best interest of America,' she said, disputing claims that Trump has harbored pro-Russian interests. 'I think the President always believed you're going to do what was in America's best interest. Under that very nature that makes us not neutral.'
