Government: Vehicle Tax Reduction Decision is Final and in the Public's Interest - Jordan News
Minister of State for Economic Affairs Mohannad Shihadeh confirmed that the government's decision to reduce vehicle taxes, announced on Saturday, is final and conclusive, emphasizing that it is intended to serve the best interests of citizens. اضافة اعلان In an interview with Radio Hala, Shihadeh stated that the decision is part of a broader package of 94 economic stimulus measures adopted by the government, all aimed at boosting economic growth and enhancing quality of life, in alignment with the country's Economic Modernization Vision. He noted that the decision carries two key dimensions: Financial – Making it easier for citizens to purchase high-quality, advanced vehicles at affordable prices. Regulatory – Banning the import of 'salvage' vehicles, which have been involved in accidents, flooding, or fires and previously entered the Kingdom under exceptions beyond the national standards. Shihadeh revealed that 40,000 salvage vehicles entered Jordan last year under special exceptions. As a result, the government decided to regulate the sector by imposing a specific technical standard. Additionally, the import of used electric vehicles, including from the current model year, has been banned for the past three years. He emphasized that the decision benefits citizens in two key ways: Lower vehicle prices Higher quality standards for imported cars, which must now meet clear Jordanian specifications and originate from known manufacturers. Shihadeh stressed that all citizens will benefit from this decision. While some may sell their current vehicles at a lower price, they will also be able to buy better vehicles at reduced costs, ensuring that everyone gains.
He added that when customs duties are reduced by 27%, 28%, or even 35%, along with regulatory stability and unified tax brackets, this will stimulate demand, revitalize the auto market, and enhance purchasing power by driving prices down.

Occupation conducts military exercise on border with Jordan after completion of "Gilead" Division
Ammon News - The Israeli occupation army revealed that the newly established "Gilead 96" Division on the border with Jordan conducted its first large-scale military exercise last Thursday. The exercise simulates emergency scenarios and rapid response to escalating events to enhance combat readiness. Units from various security agencies participated and were supervised by specialized training centers, according to Ynet. The commander of the Israeli army's Central Command, Major General Avi Bluth, said that "the outbreak of war with Iran provided an opportune opportunity to accelerate the formation of the new division on the Jordanian border." The Israeli occupation army officially announced the completion of the formation of the "Gilead 96" Division along the eastern border with Jordan just 48 hours after the outbreak of the Iran-Israel war this month, although the division's operational launch had been planned for August. The acceleration of the division's establishment came in light of rapid regional developments. It was formed to bolster Israeli defenses on the eastern border, and is now responsible for securing the border with Jordan, Ynet added.
