Occupation conducts military exercise on border with Jordan after completion of "Gilead" Division

Ammon5 hours ago

Ammon News - The Israeli occupation army revealed that the newly established "Gilead 96" Division on the border with Jordan conducted its first large-scale military exercise last Thursday.
The exercise simulates emergency scenarios and rapid response to escalating events to enhance combat readiness. Units from various security agencies participated and were supervised by specialized training centers, according to Ynet.
The commander of the Israeli army's Central Command, Major General Avi Bluth, said that "the outbreak of war with Iran provided an opportune opportunity to accelerate the formation of the new division on the Jordanian border."
The Israeli occupation army officially announced the completion of the formation of the "Gilead 96" Division along the eastern border with Jordan just 48 hours after the outbreak of the Iran-Israel war this month, although the division's operational launch had been planned for August.
The acceleration of the division's establishment came in light of rapid regional developments. It was formed to bolster Israeli defenses on the eastern border, and is now responsible for securing the border with Jordan, Ynet added.

Video: 'Soldiers of God' group attacks church in Nazareth

ALBAWABA - A group called "Soldiers of God" has attacked the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation in Nazareth city. The group has broken down the outer gate, caused chaos in the churchyard, and had a verbal fight with the church's priest, according to the Orthodox Community Council's statement on Sunday. The council said, "A group of people calling themselves 'Soldiers of God' attacked the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation in Nazareth, breaking the outer gate, causing chaos in the courtyard, and ringing the Church bell, which constitutes a desecration of a holy and historical site. The leadership of the community council confronted them, and they were expelled from the site in the presence of police." It further mentioned that the attack took place on Sunday evening, when the church was closed, they broke the lock on the outer gate, stormed into the courtyard, and rang the church bell, claiming that they were 'protesting' the terrorist attack that took place at St. Elias Church in Damascus, Syria last week. Immediately, the head of the Orthodox Community Council, attorney Bassem Asfour, along with priest Father Semaan Bajali, a number of council members, the representative body, and activists, arrived at the scene. They confronted the attackers and called the police, leading to their evacuation from the holy site. The Community Council then filed a police complaint against the attackers. Syria's church attack: At least 25 people have been killed and 63 others wounded in a suicide bomb attack on June 22 that took place inside a church in Damascus, Syria, the country's health ministry revealed. Two men entered a church, opened fire with a weapon at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Saint Elias in the Dweila neighbourhood during a Sunday mass before detonating an explosive vest, according to the interior ministry.

In lieu of defeating Hamas, Netanyahu elevates release of Gaza captives to top priority

'Israeli' Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday that his their "victory" over Iran in their 12-day war had created "opportunities", first including freeing captives held in Gaza. "Many opportunities have opened up now following this victory. First of all, to rescue the hostages," Netanyahu said in an address to officers of the security services. "Of course, we will also have to solve the Gaza issue, to defeat Hamas, but I estimate that we will achieve both goals," he added. In a statement late Sunday, the main group representing the captives' families welcomed "the fact that after 20 months, the return of the hostages has finally been designated as the top priority by the prime minister". "This is a very important statement that must translate into a single comprehensive deal to bring back all 50 hostages and end the fighting in Gaza," the 'Hostages and Missing Families Forum' said. Palestinian armed groups seized 251 captives during the events of October 7, 2023. Of these, 49 are still believed to be held in Gaza, including 27 the 'Israeli' military says are dead. Hamas also holds the body of an 'Israeli' soldier killed there in 2014. The forum called for the captives' "release, not rescue".

Syria's main demand to agree to a peace deal with Israel

Published June 30th, 2025 - 05:48 GMT ALBAWABA - Israeli local media said that there are great hints that Syria and Israel would agree on a peace deal by the end of the year. Any possible peace agreement between Syria and Israel would be labeled as a "historic shift in regional diplomacy," Ynet reported on Sunday. However, according to local media in Israel, Damascus has one main condition to agree on a deal with, and that is to retake control over the Al-Golan Heights area, which was taken and annexed by Israeli forces during the 1967 Six-Day War.
