Boots' 'excellent' £10 after sun 'prolongs tan' and 'gives skin golden glow'
Boots is selling an after-sun lotion that "prolongs your tan up to one month and instantly calms sun-exposed skin" for £10. The Lancaster Tan Maximiser After Sun Body Lotion 125ml, usually priced at £27, is on offer for one day, while stock lasts.
It's part of the retailer's weekly £10 deals, which see hundreds of products discounted for a limited time. The Lancaster Tan Maximiser After Sun Body Lotion 125ml could be ideal for shoppers looking for a "refreshing after-sun lotion."
The product description says: " Our Golden Tan Maximizer After Sun Lotion prolongs your tan up to one month and instantly calms sun-exposed skin. Made with natural-origin Buriti oil, Lancaster's Tan Activator Complex intensifies melanin production for a golden, even and long-lasting tan.
"This refreshing after-sun lotion contains a repairing complex that instantly soothes your skin. It reduces the risk of peeling and leaves skin supple and hydrated." However, it's not the only choice for shoppers looking for after-sun skincare.
For instance, Selfridges offers Dior Solar The After-Sun balm 150ml for £40, Spake NK offers Institut Esthederm Shimmering After Sun Body Lotion for £52, Boots offers Piz Buin Aftersun Tan Intensifier 200ml for £7.99, and Look Fantastic offers Ambre Solaire After Sun Tan Maintainer with Self Tan 200ml on offer for £6.
On Boots' website, reviewers gave the Lancaster Tan Maximiser After Sun Body Lotion an average rating of 4.7 out of five. One happy buyer said: "Lovely creamy moisturiser helps to retain your summer colour."
Another pleased shopper shared: "Gives my skin a golden glow and not sparkly this is my go to after sun exposure excellent product." A third fan commented: "Silky soft skin and hydration is so good, excellent product."
Someone else claimed: "Best after sun ever. We have used this product for years. It smells amazing, non greasy and keeps your tan for longer." However, not everyone was so impressed.
A different reviewer said: "This is a nice rich moisturiser for the skin. I have to say it doesn't stand out from other after sun lotions and I'm not entirely sure if it's worth the price. The scent is just ok and I feel there are longer lasting, richer creams out there."
Meanwhile, a shopper thought: "A nice product that applies well, but the smell is SO strong. Far too strong - and smells very powdery like and old lady's perfume. Not at all my taste."
Someone else added: "It was a nice moisturizing cream but expected so much more for the price no noticeable tan prolonging. Gutted as I'd saved for it being a special treat for me and was left wanting." A similar comment read: "Brilliant for a moisturiser, not so great for its purpose."
Exposure to UV rays can be harmful to your skin and health. The NHS recommends use of SPF sun cream for anyone exposed to sun or UV rays. Find out more here.
The NHS says: "Sunburn increases your risk of skin cancer. Sunburn does not just happen on holiday. You can burn in the UK, even when it's cloudy. There's no safe or healthy way to get a tan. A tan does not protect your skin from the sun's harmful effects."

Skincare deal saves shoppers £181 on three luxury products
The limited-time offer means beauty fans will essentially get two full-size formulas for free Many beauty enthusiasts dream of having a luxurious skincare routine, but the price tag can be off-putting. With that in mind, I've tracked down a great deal on a beauty box reduced to £99 from £280, saving shoppers a massive £181. The Avant Gift Box is a curated trio of the brand's most-loved formulas: the Supreme Hyaluronic Acid Anti-oxidising DUO Moisturiser (50ml), Deluxe Hyaluronic Acid Vivifying Face & Eye Night Cream (50ml), and the Moisture Surge Overnight Treatment (50ml). Bought individually, the three products cost nearly three times the bundle price, essentially giving shoppers two full-size products for free. User reviews back them up, too. One person said: "This is now my favourite skin care range. I'm very pleased with my latest. There are lots of lovely day and night moisturisers. I would highly recommend it. It is a bit expensive, but you need very little to give your skin a good drink." Moving on to the products themselves, the DUO Moisturiser is infused with hyaluronic acid to deeply hydrate and plump the skin, leaving it looking radiant and refreshed. The Night Cream also features hyaluronic acid and targets a range of concerns, including enlarged pores, fine lines, and dullness, while you sleep. The final product in the trio, the Overnight Treatment, is a deeply moisturising mask designed to (you guessed it) lock in moisture and help skin recover overnight. Of course, there are many more beauty boxes to try. Boots has a wealth of bundles to enjoy, including the Fresh Faced Favourites Skincare Edit Set (£29.99), which features brands such as BYOMA, Pixi, and The Inkey List. I'm also a big fan of LookFantastic's offerings. The beauty superstore's Summer Heroes Edit (£45) is worth over £150, with treats from ESPA, Sol de Janeiro and Color Wow. As mentioned, though, Avant Skincare has received some great reviews. One fan said: "Fantastic. I noticed a big difference in my skin. I definitely recommend it." Another described it as: "The ultimate gift for anyone who wants to pamper their skin with high-quality products." And a third person piped up: "100% must - the perfect collection. Feels phenomenal, no reaction, and smells beautiful." However, the products inside may not be suitable for everyone. This user said: "I have sensitive skin and I would appreciate if there was an option for unscented products." Saying that, this buyer piped up: "If you're looking for a bit more of a luxurious gift, I highly recommend this gift box. It's beautifully presented too."
