Cynthia Nixon responds to And Just Like That... cancellation
Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis have expressed their sadness at the cancellation of their Sex And The City reboot, And Just Like That. Showrunner Michael Patrick King announced the cancellation on Friday. Nixon shared a carousel of photos from the show as she spoke out on the shocking decision. "I can't believe our wild, beautiful And Just Like That ride is almost over. It has been such a delight from start to finish." Referring to the photos of cast, crew and special guests, she continued, "I will miss working with these people every day so incredibly much, but know we will always be a part of each other's lives. Get ready for a lot more carousels in the weeks to come!" Teasing about how things will be wrapped up, she added, "And don't miss these last few episodes: surprises in store!" In her response, Davis shared her dismay at King's announcement. "I am profoundly sad. I love our whole beautiful cast and crew. 400 artisans working so hard on our show with deep love," she wrote. "And to our loyal fans, we love you forever and ever. "Thank you to you all! You hold me up, and I do not take it for granted."

After Erivo channeled her character Elphaba throughout the Wicked press tour in 2024, fans and fashion aficionados have been eagerly anticipating her looks for herWicked: For Good appearances. Speaking with PEOPLE for her partnership with Listerine, Erivo praised her style team's dedication to each elaborate ensemble and hinted at what to expect in the upcoming press run. Erivo tells PEOPLE her style team, spearheaded by stylist Jason Bolden, is very dear to her, and she's constantly impressed by the looks they create. "I mean, they're my family currently," she says, joking, "They had to see me coming because we are busy all the time. We keep each other busy. And these last few months have been really wonderful." A major undertaking for her style team, she says, was the Tony Awards on June 8. Erivo hosted the event and sported a total of 10 outfits throughout the night, each paying homage to a nominated play. Erivo's red and white glittery gown by Zac Posen was a tribute to Annie, while her black Richard Quinn ensemble — featuring long black gloves and a diamond necklace — was in line with the Hamilton reunion, in which all the actors wore black. Her final look, a bold purple dress by Paul Tazewell, paid homage to The Color Purple and Death Becomes Her. The actress tells PEOPLE each look was "very detailed" and "very intentional" — and fans should expect no less from her upcoming Wicked: For Good outfits. 'The movie is received so well, generation after generation. It's just everything good about it. The trepidation that I have is that you release something else that taints that. 'It's like, 'Oh, we came out with another,' and then the Goonies grew up, and then they came out with their walkers and then they fell off a cliff because they couldn't see very well, like, what are you going to do? I don't know. Maybe it could be great. If it's great, you'll know, like if [story writer Steven] Spielberg approves it, you know it's going to be good. But I think there's been five scripts so far through the years and he hasn't approved anything yet — so me being picky, Spielberg is picky, and he has a reason to be because he has great taste.' The Dune star's comments come several months after Deadline broke the news that the Goonies, indeed, never say die: Traction appears to be gaining on The Goonies 2, with Potsy Ponciroli coming aboard to pen the script for Warner Bros. While there is no filmmaker currently attached (the late Richard Donner helmed the original), Steven Spielberg, Kristie Macosko Krieger and Holly Bario will produce for Amblin Entertainment alongside original scribe Chris Columbus, with Lauren Shuler Donner executive producing. Plot details are currently under wraps, and news of the sequel's development came just weeks after a cast reunion at TCL Chinese Theatre, in celebration of Ke Huy Quan's hand and foot imprint ceremony.
