Madhavan backs Maharashtra's creator economy push with FTII collaboration
He was speaking at an event where a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Maharashtra Film, Stage & Cultural Development Corporation (MFSCDC) and the Pune-based Film and Television Institute of India (FTII).
The MoU, facilitated by the state's cultural affairs department, aims to provide quality training and certification in creative and technical skills related to film, television and digital content creation.
"This is not just a partnership but the beginning of a movement. Maharashtra will soon emerge as the epicentre of the creator economy, not only for India but for the world," Fadnavis said.
He said with the rapid monetisation of creative content by individuals using digital platforms, the need for certified training is more critical than ever.
The CM cited the fast-growing creator economy, which expanded from Rs 92,000 crore to Rs 1 lakh crore in just 100 days.

"Today, even a common person can be a creator. But despite having talent, many lack certification, which limits their professional opportunities. This collaboration will bridge that gap," Fadnavis said.
Welcoming the MoU, cultural affairs minister
Ashish
Shelar said it would decentralise FTII's reach, allowing students from rural and semi-urban Maharashtra to access training at the state level.
He said four centres, at Goregaon in Mumbai, Kolhapur, Prabhadevi, and Karjat, will serve as hubs, promoting local talent and opening new employment opportunities within the entertainment sector.
FTII chairperson and actor R Madhavan highlighted the emergence of talented creators from smaller towns and said India's cultural narratives deserve global attention.
"While Western cinema has its superheroes like Superman and Batman, it is time the world recognised Hanuman and Krishna. India's soft power lies in its storytelling," Madhavan asserted.
The MoU was formally exchanged between Swati Mhase-Patil, Managing Director of Film City, and
Dheeraj Singh
, Registrar of FTII, in the presence of senior officials from the cultural affairs department.
The MFSCDC is an undertaking of the Maharashtra government and is associated with a wide gamut of initiatives in the sector, including helming the renowned Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari in Goregaon, popularly known as Film City.
The FTII is a institute under the Union ministry of information and broadcasting

Kiss cam scandal: Astronomer taps Chris Martin's ex Gwyneth Paltrow for PR
Hollywood actress and lifestyle brand Goop founder Gwyneth Paltrow has entered the tech chat — temporarily — to address the fallout from a viral "kiss cam" moment at a Coldplay concert. The incident involved the very public discovery of an extramarital affair between the US-based AI startup Astronomer's former CEO and chief people officer. Chris Martin's ex Gwyneth Paltrow addresses Astronomer kiss cam scandal In a tongue-in-cheek video posted Friday on Astronomer's official X account, the Hollywood actress, who was married to Coldplay's Chris Martin for over a decade before "consciously uncoupling" in 2014, declared she's been hired on a 'very temporary basis' to represent the New York-based AI startup's 300-plus employees. Her mission? Not to talk about the kiss cam scandal that's been lighting up social media for the past week. 'Thank you for your interest in Astronomer,' Paltrow says at the start of the video. 'Astronomer has gotten a lot of questions over the last few days, and they wanted me to answer the most common ones,' she says. The video opens with someone typing, 'OMG! What the actual F...,' before cutting to Paltrow cheerfully praising the company's AI capabilities, 'Yes, Astronomer is the best place to run Apache Airflow'. 'We've been thrilled so many people have a newfound interest in data workflow automation,' she adds. In another clip, she interrupts a question beginning with, 'How is your social media team holding…' to instead announce that registration is still open for Astronomer's Beyond Analytics event in September. 'We will now be returning to what we do best — delivering game-changing results for our customers,' she says, smiling. The Coldplay kiss cam incident The message follows a very public scandal involving former CEO Andy Byron and then-Chief People Officer Kristin Cabot, who were caught in an awkward embrace on a 'kiss cam' during a July 16 Coldplay concert near Boston. Both executives — who are married to other people — quickly became the subject of online speculation after dodging the camera in a way that even Coldplay frontman Chris Martin couldn't ignore. 'Either they're having an affair, or they're just very shy,' Martin joked from the stage, in a clip that's been shared widely across platforms. The fallout was swift. Byron stepped down on July 19, and Cabot resigned on Thursday. In a July 18 statement, the company said it had launched an internal investigation and added, 'Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability.' Astronomer confirmed Thursday that Cabot was the woman in the video. Neither she nor Byron has publicly commented. Byron's wife, Megan Kerrigan, and Cabot's husband, Andrew Cabot, have also stayed silent. Astronomer's PR spin gets applause The AI startup's PR stunt seems to be paying off, with users praising the team and laughing along. One user commented,'You hired the Coldplay singer's ex-wife. Extraordinary.' Another wrote, "Your PR team deserves a raise!" The video has amassed nearly 10 million views on X in under 12 hours.

Mohit Suri 's romantic musical drama Saiyaara has pulled off an extraordinary feat—breaking into the Top 50 Biggest Hits of Hindi Cinema in just its second weekend with its total collection crossing Rs 197.31 crore till 2 PM on Saturday afternoon, it's 9th day of release . The film, which marks the debut of Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda , has surprised trade pundits and audiences alike with its phenomenal box office performance, beating out big-ticket films like Akshay Kumar 's Sooryavanshi, Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar's 2.0 and Ranbir Kapoor 's blockbuster Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Mohit Suri Spills On 20 Years In Bollywood - Ahaan & Aneet, Alia Bhatt Dream Collab & More Just two days ago, Saiyaara was sitting at the 84th position on the all-time highest-grossing Hindi films list. Now, it has soared to the 46th spot, edging past Akshay Kumar's Sooryavanshi , Rajinikanth 's 2.0 (Hindi) and Ranbir Kapoor's Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani which had netted Rs 195.55 crore Rs 190.48 crore and with Rs 188.57 crore respectively. It now sits above several major films in terms of net collections and footfalls. Saiyaara is expected to climb even higher on the all-time charts. Industry insiders are already calling it the 'dark horse of 2025' and possibly the year's biggest surprise success.
