GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A northern Michigan woman has been arrested after a Michigan State Police dog followed her trail for 5 miles.
responded to a home invasion complaint around 8 a.m. Tuesday in Grand Traverse County. They say surveillance video showed a woman enter the home and leave with multiple items.
An MSP trooper and Ox, a K-9, responded and picked up a suspect's trail. Ox followed it, including through some stretches of thick vegetation, before finally catching up to the suspect.
She was arrested and lodged in the Grand Traverse County Jail on multiple charges.

An Ohio motorcyclist was killed late Friday night in a crash on westbound I-94 in Detroit, Michigan State Police say. Troopers say the crash happened at around 11:50 p.m. Friday on I-94 near Lonyo Street, when the motorcyclist, a 22-year-old man from Lakewood, Ohio, was reportedly weaving in and out of traffic lanes at a high rate of speed and sideswiped a vehicle in the right lane while trying to pass the car on the right shoulder. Police say the motorcyclist lost control and hit a bridge abutment on the right shoulder and then crossed all lanes, striking a median wall. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported. The freeway was closed overnight for an investigation. "While we have made progress in the amount of speed related crashes in the last five years," said MSP Lt. Mike Shaw. "It is preventable crashes like this one that drives home that excessive speed kills. We want to remind motorcyclists to drive the speed limit, wear protective gear, including a helmet, and obey all traffic laws. It only takes one poor decision to lose your life."

A 22-year-old motorcycle driver was pronounced dead following a crash on westbound Interstate 94 late Friday, June 27, near Lonyo Street in Detroit, according to police. The driver, a man from Lakewood, Ohio, attempted to pass a vehicle traveling in the right lane by driving on the right shoulder of westbound I-94. The motorcycle sideswiped the car, according to a preliminary investigation by Michigan State Police. The driver lost control after striking the car, struck the bridge abutment on the right shoulder, crossed all lanes of traffic and struck the median wall, according to MSP. There were no other injuries, MSP said. The freeway was closed for the investigation for about three hours around midnight, Public Information Officer Lt. Mike Shaw said. The social media post said the motorcycle was traveling at "high rates of speed." Shaw said the exact speed is unknown. "It is preventable crashes like this one that drives home that excessive speed kills. We want to remind motorcyclists to drive the speed limit, wear protective gear, including a helmet, and obey all traffic laws. It only takes one poor decision to lose your life," Lt. Mike Shaw said in a news release on X. Michigan Police said it is honing in on speed enforcement and will be "will be conducting dedicated speed enforcement during the month of July," according to a news release by Michigan State Police. Troopers look for driver of hit-and-run on US-131

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Troopers are asking the public for help finding the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run crash on US-131 in Grand Rapids early Saturday morning. Around 3 a.m., troopers with the Michigan State Police were sent to US-131 just north of Wealthy Street for a serious injury crash involving a motorcycle. Responding troopers learned that a second vehicle involved had taken off from the scene before they arrived. MSP said that the vehicle is described as a 2006 or 2007 dark-colored Jeep Grand Cherokee with a missing passenger side mirror and body damage. Anyone with information on the driver and vehicle involved in the crash is asked to contact the MSP Grand Rapids Post at 616.866.4411. The crash remains under investigation.
