Kim Kardashian's Skims Face Shapewear Backlash
And now, the billion-dollar company is selling shapewear for faces, too.
Going for $48, the 'Seamless Sculpt Face Wrap' — which comes in two shades, 'Clay' or 'Cocoa' — is marketed on the Skims website as a 'must-have face wrap' that is suitable for 'easy, everyday wear.'
'Our first-ever face innovation is here. This must-have face wrap boasts our signature sculpting fabric and features collagen yarns for ultra-soft jaw support. Velcro closures at the top and nape of the neck allow for easy, everyday wear,' the description reads.
Discussing the product further on Instagram, Kim described the face wrap as 'a necessity.' She said in a video, 'OK guys, so you know we've been doing shapewear for a really long time, and now we are gonna offer amazing face shapewear, which is just such a necessity. This material is actually infused with collagen yarns, and it's just this amazing jaw support.'
Reacting to the new product, several internet users were not at all impressed and accused Kim of profiting from women's insecurities.
'Gotta give Kim credit, she's always at the forefront of identifying new things for women to be insecure about and profiting off them,' one Reddit user said, while another wrote, 'Why the hell does everything about a woman need to be 'fixed' holy hell.'
'SKIMS : Making women feel bad about themselves since 2018,' one Instagram user commented. Someone else wrote, 'State of the world in shambles, people dying … Kim: New Hannibal Lector Nylon face wrap just dropped!!!'
'Another thing to make women feel insecure! Ladies we don't need it!!!!!!!!' another comment read. 'Does anyone else think this is too much and raises beauty standards?' someone else questioned.

Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau's Complete Relationship Timeline
THE RUNDOWN In late July, pop star Katy Perry and former Canadian Prime Minster Justin Trudeau sparked dating rumors after being seen with one another on several occasions in Montréal. On August 2, a source stated that the 'romance is in very early stages.' Both Perry and Trudeau ended their long term relationships relatively recently. On July 3, Perry and actor Orlando Bloom announced their split after six years of being engaged in a joint statement to People, saying, 'Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry's relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting [their daughter, 4-year-old Daisy]. They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is—and always will be—raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect.' Trudeau and his ex Sophie Grégorie separated in 2023 after 18 years together. In a statement posted on Instagram at the time, Trudeau wrote, 'Hi everyone, Sophie and I would like to share the fact that after many meaningful and difficult conversation, we have made the decision to separate. As always, we remain a close family with deep love and respect for each other and for everything we have built and will continue to build. For the well-being of our children, we ask that you respect our and their privacy. Thank you.' Here's the complete relationship timeline of Perry and Trudeau so far. On July 28, the pair shared a long day of activities together, starting with a walk in Montreal's Mount Royal Park. TMZ obtained photos of Trudeau smiling alongside Perry as they strolled. They were then filmed eating at Le Violon in Montréal. In footage obtained by TMZ, Perry and Trudeau can be seen chatting, with the singer looking attentively at Trudeau. After their meal, they had drinks on the terrace of Taverne Atlantic. Shortly after TMZ published the dinner video, the outlet ran an interview with Le Violon's co-owner and co-executive chef, Danny Smiles, who served them. Smiles said Perry and Trudeau didn't show any PDA, and 'he didn't get any dating vibes from Katy and two friends enjoying a meal.' Perry and Trudeau enjoyed a series of courses from the chef's tasting menu, including lobster, tuna, lamb gnocchi, and beef tartare, according to TMZ. The meal was a few hours long, and Trudeau covered the bill. Smiles called them the 'perfect guests—super chill, extremely nice to the staff.' On July 30, Trudeau was seen at Perry's Lifetimes Tour stop in Montréal. The former Canadian prime minister was spotted by fans in the crowd. His daughter Ella-Grace, was also at the concert, per Daily Mail. Trudeau also sang along to Perry's hit song 'Firework.' A source speaking with People said that the pair definitely have a connection, but it is a logistical challenge to date. 'They are interested in each other, but it will take a while to see where this goes,' the insider stated. 'She is traveling around the world, and he is figuring out his life now that he is no longer prime minister of Canada, but there is an attraction. They have a lot in common.' The source added, 'Music is one of many things they can share. Both are idealists and still live in a world where they think they can make improvements, although it has gotten more difficult.' They both have full lives already, as well as kids they share with former partners. 'Their own personal responsibilities could make this relationship move slower than it would, but there are ways to see the other and still fulfill their parenting responsibilities,' the source said. 'For one thing, they each have an ex. So, duties are split in half. And long-distance relationships, while still hard, are possible for these two.' A second source told People, 'Justin is a [politician] who is used to living a secret life with his personal activity, and wouldn't put on a public display at this stag. He knows they were being watched and is smart enough to play it low-key for now.' '[The] timing seems good for them, although a romance is in very early stages,' the source added.

Celebrities React To Sydney Sweeney American Eagle Ad
More and more people are speaking out amid the growing discourse surrounding Sydney Sweeney's American Eagle ad — including celebrities. In case you missed it, American Eagle released new denim ads featuring Sydney last month, using the tagline "Sydney Sweeney has great jeans." One of the promotional videos shows the blond-haired, blue-eyed actor playing on the words of the campaign as she tells the camera: "Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality, and even eye color." She then said, "My jeans are blue." While AE described the launch as "a return to essential denim dressing," some took issue with the "great jeans" tagline, calling it a coded message promoting eugenics. And amid the controversy, celebs started weighing in. Here's what they said. Courtney Stodden criticized AE for "pushing this hypersexualized 'All-American girl' image to sell JEANS" in a statement on Instagram. She wrote, "First of all—this isn't about Sydney. I don't know her personally and this isn't about tearing another woman down. But I do think it's important we talk about the bigger picture."She continued, "Let's be real: I have blonde hair, blue eyes and curves since I was a kid. I was sexualized by the system // powerful men before I was even old enough to understand what was happening. I've been there— marketed, minimized, misrepresented. So when I see a big-budget ad pushing this hypersexualized 'All-American girl' image to sell JEANS, all I can think is... here we go again.""Another billionaire-backed fantasy being sold to us like it's harmless nostalgia," Courtney added. "But it's rooted in racism. It's also a recycled idea of womanhood created for the silly male gaze and mass consumption.""We deserve better," Courtney said, as she also called out the original ad for its depictions of an "underage" Brooke Shields. "We are better." Lizzo responded to the ad with satire. On Thursday, she took to Instagram to share a fake meme of herself wearing a denim outfit similar to the one Sydney wore in the ad. It had the words "If the Democrats won the election" written over it as Lizzo joked in the caption, "My jeans are black…" JD Vance said the left was blowing it out of proportion. "They're trying to sell, you know, sell jeans to kids in America," he explained on the Ruthless Podcast. "And they have managed to so unhinge themselves over this thing." He said, "It's like, you guys, did you learn nothing from the November 2024 election? Like I actually thought that one of the lessons they might take is we're going to be less crazy. The lesson they have apparently taken is we're going to attack people as Nazis for thinking Sydney Sweeney is beautiful. Great strategy, guys." Former race car driver and Trump supporter Danica Patrick didn't seem to see the issue with Sydney's ad. "Can anyone tell me what's wrong with the new AE ads?" she reportedly wrote on Instagram. "Very confused." And Megyn Kelly called the backlash "absurd." "There's nothing wrong with being white," she said. "It's fine, she can be white, too. It's like, now, we're going to see an ad with a Black woman and the reference to genes, too, and that won't satisfy them." In true fashion, Desi Lydic made fun of Sydney's accent — then she got serious and criticized the right-wing backlash, including Megyn Kelly for saying that white, blonde, and blue-eyed women are never "allowed" to be celebrated. "This is such bullshit," Desi expressed. "Blonde women have had constant representation, okay? In entertainment, fashion, in letter-turning. It's not that they want to see more white women. They want to see none of anyone else." She also said, "For a story about boobs, it sure has a lot of assholes." So far, Sydney herself hasn't directly responded to the backlash, but AE stood by the campaign in a statement shared to its social media accounts yesterday. You can read it here.

Adoring Fans Remember Beloved Rock Icon on His Birthday: 'Miss You Every Single Day'
Adoring Fans Remember Beloved Rock Icon on His Birthday: 'Miss You Every Single Day' originally appeared on Parade. For Grateful Dead fans the world over, today is particularly meaningful. Not only was the late, great Jerry Garcia born on August 1, 1942 — but because his tragic death in 1995 took place on August 9, Deadheads have celebrated the iconic musician's birthday as the start of "Jerry Week" in the decades since. And this year's Jerry Week might be the most significant yet, as 2025 marks the 60th anniversary of the Grateful Dead's start as one of the world's most beloved rock bands of all time. The legendary rock star's family marked the occasion on Instagram, sharing a photo of Garcia playing guitar onstage along with several sweet memories and exciting announcements for fans. "Happy Birthday, Jerry! Your presence is felt every single day," the caption read, continuing, "Our dad was a magical person whose light has only grown brighter with time. It's been fulfilling to see Jerry's life and music continue to inspire a new generation of fans; may they become freedom-loving artists in their own right." The post went on to remember Garcia as "everything San Francisco. From the tough street kid in the Excelsior, to the art school student in North Beach, to the freedom-loving Haight Street 'Captain Trips.' He was a lover of tech, science, and progressive ideas. This city was his home. Today, we are honored that San Francisco is naming a street after Jerry. We're proud that the city recognizes his contribution to the art and culture of this place he loved so much." Garcia's family also mentioned the annual free concert at Jerry Garcia Amphitheater in McLaren Park, adding, "and this weekend, remnants of the original band, which has become the most successful tribute band in history, will keep the flame lit, playing Jerry's music on the hallowed ground where thousands of heartbroken fans gathered 30 years ago for his memorial.""May the wound be healed by dancing feet, astral travels, and lots of hugs! Keep calm and Jerry on!" the post concluded. Fans in the comments were quick to share their love for Garcia, with one person writing, "No music touches my soul, heart, and being, the way Jerry and the Dead do. Thank you Jerry, thank you Dead Heads everywhere for sharing in this love and light!" "Jerry takes the edge off just enough to make life bearable," a second commenter admitted, with another adding, "Miss you every single day." "Happy Birthday Jerry! Feeling your presence in SF!" wrote someone else. As the San Francisco Examiner reported, Jerry Garcia Street (a one-block stretch of Harrington Street, where Garcia lived as a child), will be formally dedicated today, while Friends of Jerry Garcia Amphitheater, a volunteer group that schedules events at McLaren Park's stage, is hosting a day of musical performances on Saturday (the same day as the second of three Dead & Company shows in Golden Gate Park celebrating the Grateful Dead's 60th anniversary).
