Rabbi Matondo Rangers absence explained after loan return
Matondo's absence left fans wondering but Rangers Review has now confirmed he had surgery on a knee problem during the break and is expected back in August.
The Welsh winger, 24, has had consistent injury troubles during his time at Ibrox and missed four months of the 2024/25 campaign due to a hamstring issue.
Another player missing from the squad against Brugge was defender Clinton Nsiala and manager Russell Martin has confirmed he is likely to go out on loan.
He said: "Clinton... we signed Emmanuel, and I think Clinton's at a point in his at his age and his career, he needs to play all the time and every week.
"He's trained really, really well. But I think it's, rather playing some part of the squad, a bit like last season, he's at a point now where he needs to go and play football and he's the best way to learn.
"We've had a really good conversation, honest conversation. And he's trained really well. I think it was an area we wanted to strengthen [centre-back] anyway and we will continue to strengthen.
"So, to let [Clinton] know the situation really early is probably the best for him to find the best opportunity to play football."

Xu channelling inspiration from Raducanu at Junior Wimbledon
Swansea starlet Xu, 17, safely navigated her way to the third round of the girls' singles with a confident 6-1 6-2 triumph over 12th seed Alena Kovackova. To gear up for the junior competition, Xu faced 2021 US Open champion Raducanu in the first round of the senior draw where she fell to a valiant 6-3 6-3 defeat on Court 1. 'I got the job done today – I played well and aggressively, took most balls on and it was a solid performance.' Xu made much lighter work of Czech player Kovackova than in her first round match, where she was forced to battle from behind to beat American Thea Frodin 2-6 6-4 7-5. She found her fluent best on Court 12 the following day, however, requiring just 53 minutes to despatch her higher-ranked opponent and book her place in the last 16. There she will face Australian Tahlia Kokkinis, who beat fellow Brit Daniella Britton in straight sets elsewhere on Monday afternoon. And she hopes using the partisan British crowd to her advantage can catapult her into the quarter-finals. 'I've played on these courts more than anyone else,' she said. 'What better way to prepare for the junior draw than playing seniors the week before? 'I've got used to using the British crowd, who have been absolutely amazing. 'It was full today and they really got me across the finish line – hopefully more of the same tomorrow and I'm taking it one game at a time.' McIntyre insists Scotland won't be underestimating Welsh threat
Scotland's Holly McIntyre is not underestimating the threat posed by Wales in their second fixture of the 2025 Six Nations Women's Summer Series as both sides go in search of a first win. The opening round of games at the Centre for Sporting Excellence in Ystrad Mynach, Caerphilly saw Scotland lose 31-17 to England in a closely fought physical encounter while Wales slipped to a 27-10 defeat to Ireland in a similarly bruising tussle. But Scotland battled bravely against the Auld Enemy, never letting their opponents run away from them, whilst scoring three tries in the process. 'There have been a couple of good chats about areas that we feel we can go after and all the chat around that has been pretty positive.' Despite the result against England, McIntyre, who will be graduating from the University of Edinburgh next week after five years studying Interior Design, added the feeling amongst the squad has been upbeat this week. 'We've had our meetings over the week, and we are pretty happy with how the [England] game went,' she continued. 'We put on a good display of what we'd been up to in training, and we were really happy with our bravery in the contact areas and our physicality. 'As you can see, we definitely stressed them in areas and there's a positive mood in the group. 'And now, we're looking forward to getting into Wales this weekend.' Charlotte Russell also shared McIntyre's outlook heading into the Wales game and explained that self-belief will be an important factor. She added: 'We definitely need to take some confidence in our performance against England, especially with the forwards and at the set piece, we really surprised ourselves with those. 'Now, we just need to back ourselves.'
