Liverpool star compared to Zinedine Zidane as he embarrasses Luis Diaz in training
Liverpool recently uploaded a video giving football fans a sneak peek inside a squad training session as their pre-season tour of Hong Kong and Japan rolls on, and one player impressed in particular Liverpool's Conor Bradley has been compared to Zinedine Zidane after embarrassing team-mate Luis Diaz in training. The Reds are currently enjoying a pre-season tour of Hong Kong and Japan as they prepare to defend their Premier League title in 2025/26. However, if Saturday's 4-2 loss to AC Milan at the Kai Tak Stadium is anything to go by, the squad are still lacking valuable minutes in their legs after a well-earned summer break. Goals from Dominik Szoboszlai and Cody Gakpo were overshadowed by strikes from Rafael Leao, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and a Noah Okafor brace, albeit a full-strength squad wasn't deployed by Arne Slot on the day. And while there's work to be done ahead of their Community Shield clash with Crystal Palace come August 10, certain stars have certainly impressed fans on the training ground. Liverpool uploaded footage from an in-camp session earlier this week, which showed players being put through their paces in Hong Kong. Club legend Mohamed Salah and club-record signing Florian Wirtz found themselves showered with praise in the comments section of the YouTube upload, but Bradley was no stranger to receiving compliments either for his efforts against team-mates. One clip that stood out to fans among the rest involved the 22-year-old right back showing off his attacking prowess. After plucking the ball out of the air with his back to Harvey Elliott, the Northern Irishman spun and beat the versatile winger with a turn of pace. Diaz then approached in a bid to dispossess Bradley, only to get turned with a roulette and left rather red-faced. And fans of the Reds were quick to rush to the comments to show their admiration for the youngster, who played a large part in Liverpool's title-winning campaign last season. One wrote: "Conor Zidane," with a fire emoji, drawing parallels between the talent and the Real Madrid legend who was synonymous with skills on the pitch during his own playing days. Another added: "Conor Bradley is becoming alarmingly good very quickly. I think his future lies in attack. He's moving like Florian on the ball in these past few training clips. Beautiful to watch." Meanwhile, a third continued: "Bradley is going to have an amazing season," while a fourth opined: "You can tell Conor has gone up a level... who knows what his ceiling is." While Slot wasted no time in securing the services of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen in a £29.5million deal after the departure of first-choice right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold for Real Madrid, there's no doubt that Bradley will play his own part this season. The talent made 29 appearances across all competitions in 2024/25, and thrived as a replacement for Alexander-Arnold while the star was out injured. It comes amid speculation surrounding the future of Diaz with his current club. The Colombian has excelled at Anfield since his arrival in 2022, scoring 41 goals and providing 23 assists from 143 outings, but now appears to be unsettled in north west England. Reports suggest that Diaz has made it clear that he wishes to leave Liverpool this summer, and it is claimed that Bayern Munich is his destination of choice, despite the Bavarians already seeing an initial bid of around £58.8m knocked back. While Liverpool initially insisted that the 28-year-old was not for sale this summer, they may change their tune if the money is right given another one of their targets has just expressed a desire to leave his current club. Liverpool have spent large parts of the transfer window monitoring Alexander Isak's situation with Newcastle United, with the Magpies reluctant to let their talisman part ways with St. James' Park. But now that the Swedish international has expressed his own desire to leave the north east, Liverpool may reignite hopes of welcoming him to Anfield if they can find the funds after already spending a staggering amount of the likes of Frimpong, Wirtz, Milos Kerkez and most recently Hugo Ekitike - dropping £79 on the Eintracht Frankfurt star. Of course, allowing Diaz to leave as well as finding a new permanent home for Darwin Nunez would go a long way in doing so, but Newcastle are expected to demand a minimum of £150m for Isak if Liverpool are serious in their endeavours.

Jeremie Frimpong warned he could already be set for Liverpool disappointment
Liverpool have been highly active in the summer transfer window, but one of Arne Slot's newest additions may not have an easy time locking down a starting role New Liverpool signing Jeremie Frimpong is set for a battle to secure his place in Arne Slot 's starting line-up. That's according to ex-Reds defender Glen Johnson, who believes Conor Bradley will be hot on the heels of the new arrival. Frimpong, 24, made the switch to Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen as their first signing of the summer, penning a five-year contract following the activation of his £29.5million release clause. His move was confirmed around the same time as Trent Alexander-Arnold's £10m move to Real Madrid, giving Slot a direct replacement at right-back. Yet amid the excitement of Frimpong's arrival, it's easy to overlook that Liverpool already boast a promising homegrown player in that role ready to fill Alexander-Arnold's boots. And Johnson is convinced Bradley won't relinquish his spot without a fight, having contributed to the team's Premier League title win last season. "I've seen Frimpong play a few times. Obviously, he likes to get forward, he'll be a good player that can help push and develop with Conor Bradley," he told with the Liverpool Echo, via 888sport. "Who will start the season, we don't know, but it's just good to always have two good players that are probably both capable of being in the XI." Bradley, 22, clocked up 29 appearances across all competitions last season, with 19 in the league, but only seven of those were starts. He managed to set up four goals, convincing many supporters he's ready for a regular spot in the starting XI. The decision by Slot to bring in Netherlands international Frimpong indicates a desire for competition in the position. But Johnson, who lifted the League Cup with Liverpool in 2012, believes this won't necessarily relegate Bradley to back-up duties. "Liverpool themselves don't care who it is, they just want the best one in that position," he continued. "But like I say, I think Conor Bradley fully deserves to start with a shirt from what he's done already in the Premier League. "But at the same time, you always need to push the players, you can't just assume you're only one injury away from missing out. So, if players are available and it's a deal that suits Liverpool, they have to do it. And it's now for Conor to fight and win that position and make sure he is still the No. 1." Frimpong, who is already impressing his new fans in pre-season, spent four seasons in the Bundesliga and made it into the official Team of the Season twice. Last season, he scored five goals and provided 12 assists in 48 games, having contributed 14 goals and 12 assists during Leverkusen's title-winning season one year prior. The statistics suggest the Amsterdam-born ace could eventually become Liverpool's first-choice right-back. However, Johnson is likely correct in suggesting competition will aid Bradley's development at this early stage of his career. It's also worth noting there may be opportunities for both players to feature in the starting line-up together. Frimpong gained experience playing in more advanced roles under Xabi Alonso at Leverkusen, while Bradley has been utilised as a winger for Northern Ireland. Liverpool now face a similar situation at left-back following the signing of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth this summer. The Hungarian comes to Merseyside with a strong reputation, but 31-year-old Andy Robertson remains part of the squad despite rumours linking him with Atletico Madrid, while Kostas Tsimikas is also being touted for a move . If Slot's first summer at Anfield was slow-paced, his second has demonstrated a keen desire to bolster Liverpool's squad depth in certain areas. The Dutchman appears eager to have two players vying for each position, with fans eagerly awaiting to see who will be in the starting line-up for Liverpool's Premier League opener at home to Bournemouth come August 15.

That is another sign that Europe fancy their chances of becoming the first team to win away from home since they pulled off the Miracle at Medinah 13 years ago if Bradley takes on a dual role. 3 Luke Donald has approved a Ryder Cup rule change Credit: Getty 3 Keegan Bradley could become a player captain Credit: AP Vice captains are banned from handing out advice or making contact with players during matches under the existing rules. But European captain Donald is prepared to change that, so one of Bradley's five deputies - Webb Simpson, Brandt Snedeker, Kevin Kisner, Gary Woodland and Jim Furyk - could stand in for him if he is on the course. European insiders have said Donald gave his approval to the American request because he did not want any 'bad blood' between the teams, before they clash at New York's Bethpage Black cauldron in September. But privately Donald and his team hope Bradley might take his eye off the ball, while juggling his duties as the Ryder Cup's first player-captain since Arnold Palmer in 1963. He insisted he would not be one of his six captain's picks. But his stellar form over the last couple of years has seen him climb to seventh in the world rankings. And even though he slipped from ninth to tenth on the American Ryder Cup list after finishing in a tie for 30th place at the Open, he clearly feels he is playing too well to simply stand aside. Bradley has also confirmed LIV star Bryson DeChambeau - who won his second US Open title last year - will definitely be on his team at Bethpage, even though he could fail to hold onto an automatic qualifying spot.
