Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Consumer expectations around mobility are shifting. Convenience, speed, and personalisation are driving demand in the UAE's growing car rental market. At Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2025, Thrifty Car Rentals UAE is reintroducing itself as a brand designed for today's on-demand world. From flexible rental options to the launch of a self-service kiosk experience, the brand is building a future-ready ecosystem shaped around how people live, move, and connect.
Flexible rental models for a dynamic customer base
Thrifty is launching two new services that cater to UAE residents, visitors, and entrepreneurs seeking convenience without long-term commitments. The Monthly Specials offering is tailored for customers who want affordable access to a vehicle, with the flexibility to renew or switch based on evolving plans. The Lease-to-Own model supports individuals on a path to vehicle ownership through manageable monthly payments and transparent terms.
Both offerings are designed to deliver greater value, particularly for customers navigating fast-paced lifestyles or transitioning through different life stages in the UAE.
Thrifty Rolls Into Hotels: Car Rentals at Your Fingertips'
Thrifty is redefining convenience for travelers by launching car rental services across leading hotel chains in key tourist hubs. With our cutting-edge tech now embedded at these locations, tourists can seamlessly book a rental car within seconds—right from their hotel lobby or room.
This initiative is designed to put mobility in the palm of our customers' hands, eliminating the usual hassle of searching for transportation. Whether it's a spontaneous road trip or a planned excursion, travelers can now unlock a vehicle in just a few taps and get back to what they came for: experiencing the destination, not navigating logistics.
At Thrifty, we're committed to enabling smarter, faster, and more intuitive travel—making every trip not just easier, but more enjoyable.
Accelerating footprint growth in key locations via region's-first smart booking kiosk
As part of its long-term growth strategy, Thrifty is set to more than double its network of locations across the Emirates. The brand aims to expand to over 100 touchpoints within the next 18 to 24 months, focusing on high-demand zones such as residential neighborhoods, transit hubs, and retail destinations.
For this massive expansion, Thrifty UAE is marking the debut of their digital booking kiosk at ATM—a self-service station that simplifies the car rental process from start to finish. Customers can browse, select, and book a vehicle in minutes, with delivery to their location within one to three hours. Each kiosk will offer: A fully digital booking experience
An intuitive touchscreen interface
Quick verification and payment options
Planned 24/7 live support integration
'Mobility today is about ease, access, and integration into daily life,' said Chand Soni, Head of Retail at Thrifty Car Rentals, Abu Dhabi, UAE. 'Our goal is to meet people where they are—whether that's through smarter locations, digital convenience, or partnerships that deliver everyday value. We're building more than a rental network; we're building a connected experience.'
Thrifty will begin rolling out these kiosks in residential communities, shopping centres, and strategic business districts, enabling easier access to rental services where customers live and work.
Loyalty-driven collaborations
To enhance customer value and everyday convenience, Thrifty UAE is entering into strategic partnerships with top regional brands across the Oil & Gas, retail, and tourism sectors. Announced at ATM 2025, Thrifty's new partnerships with GeoWash UAE and Ocean Dusk Travels will unlock tangible benefits. Thrifty users will enjoy 50% off waterless car washes at GeoWash locations across the UAE, while Ocean Dusk customers will now have access to bespoke rental packages through Thrifty's extensive nationwide network. These initiatives reflect the brand's broader vision of going beyond rentals to deliver integrated mobility and lifestyle experiences, creating meaningful value for today's cost-conscious, convenience-driven traveller.
With digital offerings, new product lines, and an ambitious growth roadmap, Thrifty Car Rentals UAE is investing in experiences that prioritise speed, simplicity, and accessibility. The launch at ATM 2025 signals a step towards a more connected and responsive mobility landscape—one built around the evolving needs of residents, travellers, and the communities they move through.

Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Meets Over 20 New Egyptian Ambassadors and Consuls Before Their Overseas Appointments

Ali abo deshish In a broad meeting held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigration in Egypt's New Administrative Capital, Mr. Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, met with more than 20 newly appointed ambassadors and consuls general who are set to represent Egypt abroad. This meeting comes within the framework of ongoing coordination and cooperation between the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigration. At the outset, Minister Sherif Fathy welcomed the diplomats, wishing them success in their new assignments. He emphasized the critical role they play in promoting Egyptian tourism abroad and in presenting a modern and comprehensive image of Egypt that reflects both its ancient civilization and its contemporary development. He stressed the importance of highlighting Egypt's rich tourism assets and the diversity and uniqueness of its tourism products and experiences, in a way that enhances Egypt's global tourism position and attracts more tourists and investments. The Minister presented the vision and mission of the Ministry, along with the main pillars of its current strategy, which focuses on positioning Egypt as the world's leading destination in terms of the variety of tourism products it offers—from cultural, beach, and spiritual tourism to desert adventures and more. He further explained that the Ministry's strategy aims to achieve sustainable economic security through tourism, by generating long-term returns that positively impact local communities surrounding heritage and tourism sites. This, in turn, fosters a culture of preservation and care for these sites. Minister Fathy also spoke about the Ministry's commitment to regularly updating its strategies and action plans in response to current and future developments, based on comprehensive analyses and market forecasts, especially in light of global political and economic changes. He underscored that training, qualification, and development of human capital—particularly young, talented professionals with specialized skills—is a top priority for the Ministry. Investing in human resources is a cornerstone of the Ministry's vision for sustainable sectoral growth. The Minister highlighted Egypt's keenness to engage in international knowledge exchange in the fields of tourism and antiquities, including the organization of professional joint workshops. He referenced a recent workshop held on the sidelines of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai, which brought together Egyptian and Bahraini travel companies to lay the groundwork for future cooperation. He also reviewed the ongoing service development project at the Giza Pyramids area, part of the Ministry's broader efforts to enhance the visitor experience at Egyptian museums and archaeological sites. He pointed to the Ministry's collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and relevant animal welfare NGOs to ensure the well-being of horses, camels, and other animals at archaeological areas, especially in Giza. Minister Fathy reaffirmed the Egyptian government's full commitment to preserving the country's heritage and history, while also exploring ways to maximize the economic benefits of antiquities without compromising their cultural value or harming the surrounding environment. He noted the Ministry is currently working with UNESCO on several major initiatives and projects. He also stressed Egypt's unwavering determination—through continued cooperation between the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigration—to repatriate Egyptian antiquities that were illegally taken abroad. The Minister discussed the significant role that temporary exhibitions of Egyptian antiquities held abroad play in promoting Egypt's tourism sector and showcasing its diverse offerings. He referred to the recent approval by the Supreme Council of Antiquities to host two temporary exhibitions in Italy and Hong Kong, which will serve as powerful tools for destination marketing in those countries. At the conclusion of the meeting, the Minister responded to several questions and inquiries from the diplomats regarding the tourism and antiquities sectors, and listened attentively to their suggestions and ideas. Also attending the meeting was Eng. The ATM Travel Trends Report 2025 reveals insights into the trends and transformations redefining the travel sector in the Middle East and worldwide, including the surge of business travel, the growth of the luxury segment, and the boom in regional sports tourism. The report highlights exceptional growth in Middle East travel spending, projected to exceed 2019 levels by 54% this year and anticipates an annual growth rate of over 7% from 2025 to 2030. Danielle Curtis, Exhibition Director ME, Arabian Travel Market , said: 'The report's findings confirm that travel growth in the Middle East is incredibly strong, with annual growth averaging more than 7% through 2030. Bold national visions, game-changing developments, and enhanced connectivity are some of the key factors driving this momentum.' Underscoring the Middle East's strong position in global tourism, inbound travel from outside the region is set to grow by 13% annually up to 2030 and outbound business travel forecast to surge at 9% per year. European source markets make up 50% of all leisure travel to the Middle East, with India and the United Kingdom the top two inbound international leisure source markets. China is also a critical market, ranking third by value with leisure spend expected to increase by 130% by 2030. Furthermore, tourism nights by visitors from Asia Pacific and Africa, are expected to increase by over 100% between now and 2030. For outbound travel, Saudi Arabia and Egypt dominate regional flows, while Thailand and the United Kingdom lead as preferred long-haul destinations. The four largest airlines in the region – Emirates, Etihad Airways, Qatar Airways and Saudia – have placed nearly 780 aircraft orders with Boeing and Airbus, representing major expansions to their existing fleets. This significant investment underscores the region's strategic focus on becoming a global aviation hub and meeting rising passenger demand over the coming decade. The Middle East's rise as a global hub for business events is another key highlight of the report, which states that spending on Middle East business travel will grow 1.5 times faster than the global average through to 2030. The region's strategic location at the centre of Asia, Africa, and Europe supports business and leisure travel, with the latter on a particularly strong trajectory for growth. The sector plays a vital role in developing the region's reputation for hosting major events. It is expected to experience the second-fastest rate of business travel growth among all global regions, underscoring the increased potential for combining business and leisure travel, or 'bleisure'. Curtis commented: ' At ATM 2025, we recognised the industry's hunger for innovation in travel technology as well as the rising demand for business travel across the region. In response, we launched two dynamic new zones, IBTM@ATM and the Innovation Zone, designed to empower our growing audience to shape the future of travel with the speed and scale our exciting industry demands.' The region is also witnessing unprecedented growth in luxury and lifestyle tourism, attracting a new generation of high-net-worth travellers, drawn to exceptional Middle East hospitality, curated experiences and premium cultural events. According to the report global spending on luxury leisure hospitality is expected to continue growing briskly reaching over US$390 billion by 2028. 'Travellers drawn to the Middle East tend to spend more on travel overall, nearly 60% habitually spending on luxury experiences while travelling compared to under 40% among travellers who favour other destinations,' added Curtis. Of the more than 170 luxury hotel properties in the Middle East, nearly 100 are situated Abu Dhabi and Dubai, with 22 currently in development. With several luxury properties in the pipeline among Saudi Arabia's Giga projects, the region will continue to serve as a preferred destination for luxury and leisure travellers. Following in the footsteps of the Qatar 2022 World Cup and Dubai Expo 2020, the Middle East region has a proven track record for successfully hosting high-profile entertainment and sports events. According to the ATM Travel Trends report, the strong appetite for sports tourism in the region will lead to a potential growth rate of 63% in the coming years, with the 2034 FIFA World Cup in Saudi Arabia set to continue this momentum. According to the report, golf, motorsports, football, cycling, and esports are all benefiting from heightened visibility and investment in the region. This surge in sporting and entertainment events is significantly boosting the travel industry, driving increased demand for hotel stays, flights, and related services, creating a ripple effect that supports broader tourism growth.
