WINNER
Paradiso
Funky interiors including life-sized carousel horses and carnival lights, a spacious rooftop with sweeping views of the Palm and Bluewaters and world-class DJs made Paradiso an instant hit with Dubai's coolest bar crowd.
Add to the mix some seriously flamboyant drinks and fun, flavour-packed bar bites and it's easy to see why this place is so popular. Order a selection of modern tapas, with the crunchy octopus cracker, truffle brioche, wagyu beef meatballs and paella croquettes all very well presented and extremely moreish.

AGORA Cocktail Bar
(Credit: Instagram @agora_dxb)
It may be famed for its exclusive juniper selections and mixology by Simone Caporale, but AGORA is also a bar with a pretty extensive and well thought-out nibbling menu. There's a variety of carpaccios and salads but a good selection of more substantial options too, including pizzetta tartufo, burrata ravioli, braised beef short ribs and Josper tiger prawns.
If you prefer picky bits with your drinks, the croquettes with manchego and chorizo are a very good shout. All this in a chic, elegant spot decked out in rich green velvet that hosts live music and DJs playing house beats.

Charli XCX fans raging over 'atrocious' lack of one thing from her Glastonbury set

Charli XCX took to the stage to headline the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival last night, Saturday June 28. Charli XCX stunned Glastonbury crowds with her headline slot last night, but fans are fuming over one vital element missing from her performance. The British pop sensation began sharing music on MySpace in 2008, and swiftly became a staple of London rave culture. Charli XCX hit number one in the UK charts in 2012 with Icona Pop collaboration 'I Love It', and her success soared following the hit 'Fancy' with Iggy Azalea in 2014. ‌ But last year, Charli rose to complete global stardom with her hit album Brat. The record topped the charts in the UK, Ireland, and Australia, and made an impressive debut at number three on the Billboard 200. ‌ Charli's 2024 album also led to eight Grammy nominations at the 67th annual awards, including Album of the Year. She bagged three wins - Best Dance Pop Recording for "Von Dutch", Best Dance/Electronic Album, and Best Recording Package. Charli's fiancé, George Daniel of The 1975, who also topped the bill at Glasto on Friday, was amongst the excited festival-goers. The excitement buzzed amid speculation that Lorde would grace the stage with Charli to perform their collaboration 'Girl, so confusing' , reports the Manchester Evening News. But Lorde's surprise gig at Woodies Stage at 11.30am meant she didn't join Charli XCX, leading to some disappointed fans voicing their feelings online. On X, @ctphonehomee expressed dismay: "So lorde not being here is atrocious??" and @V4MPIRESHAWTY queried: "WHERE IS LORDE". One fan, @begforloves, expressed their surprise: "Now why would Lorde not be there", while @mattyscruff chimed in with: "not the crowd screaming bc they assumed lorde was coming out". @allyallonsy01 echoed the sentiment, stating: "I was hoping lorde was gonna come out". ‌ Lorde and Charli XCX broke the internet when the long feuding stars decided to work out their differenced through the song 'Girl, so confusing' which tackles the complexities of female friendship and girlhood. Despite Lorde's disappointing absence from her set, the Glastonbury crowds lapped up the star's energetic performance. But some viewers at home accused Charli of miming rather than singing live. ‌ Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! One user fumed: "Oh ffs can't watch Scissor Sisters and Charli XCX is bloody dreadful. Could literally be any random person miming. WTF for a Glastonbury Saturday night, disappointing." Another added: "Predictable but shame nonetheless that charli xcx can't sing live #Glastonbury2025 #charlixcx FAKE." And a third said: "Charli xcx Embarressing [sic]that, turning up to walk around stage pretending to sing…" Charli has graced several festival stages already this year, including Coachella, Primavera Barcelona and Primavera Porto. Lorde has also been busy, having released new album Virgin on June 27. This marks Lorde's first new album since the release of Solar Power in 2021.

BBC iPlayer removes Bob Vylan Glastonbury set after 'death to the IDF' chant

The BBC will not make the British duo's set available to watch on demand after they condemned Israel for their actions in Palestine. British music duo Bob Vylan have seen their Glastonbury set removed from BBC iPlayer after they expressed support for Palestine and condemned Israel during their performance. Bob Vylan took to the stage at Worthy Farm ahead of Irish trio Kneecap's eagerly anticipated set. But while Kneecap's performance has indeed made it to iPlayer after it was cut from live broadcast, Bob Vylan's will not be available to stream on demand. It comes after police reviewed footage of chants they had initiated during their pro-Palestine set, which was initially shown live on iPlayer and was then swiftly removed, reports The Mirror. ‌ One user on X remarked: "They've already took Bob Vylan's set off of the iPlayer don't expect to see Kneecap on there any time soon lmao." Another had said: "Someone better quick download that Bob Vylan set as there's no way that's staying on iplayer." ‌ A third had commented: "The BBC really thought they had it all covered by not live streaming Kneecaps set. Then comes along Bob Vylan." Another jibed: "Noticed the BBC haven't uploaded Kneecap and Bob Vylan's sets to iPlayer yet. Something they said?" During their set on Saturday, June 29, Bob Vylan sparked chants of "death to the IDF" [Israel Defence Forces]. The duo also vented their support for Palestine as a large message appeared on the screen behind them. It read: "Free Palestine. United Nations have called it a genocide. The BBC calls it a 'conflict'." Member Bobby Vylan then called out chants "Free Free Palestine" and "Death Death to the IDF," with the crowd shouting it back. He then said: "From the river to the sea Palestine must be, will be, free." Israeli forces have killed more than 56,000 people in Palestine since October 2023, with nearly a third of the dead under 18. Earlier this year, all food and aid was blocked from entering Gaza for around two months, leaving millions on the brink of starvation. ‌ More recently, aid distribution centres have been established in Gaza, but over 400 Palestinians have died at these centres, with many of them having been shot dead while trying to access food, reported Al Jazeera. At Glastonbury, Bob Vylan also shared their support for Kneecap as they went on: "Recently a list was released of people trying to stop our mates Kneecap from performing here today. ‌ "And who do I see on that f***ing list, but that bald-headed c*** I used to f***ing work for." Speaking about a colleague at a record company he used to work at, his comments were met by loud boos from the crowd. And he continued to say: "We're seeing some f***ed up things in the world. "We're seeing the UK and the US be complicit in war crimes and genocide happening over there to the Palestinian people. And I know we're on the BBC, we're not going to say anything crazy. Leave that for them lads, you know what I mean. "But unfortunately we have seen a strange reaction to people that come out and voice support for Palestine. Even though anybody with any moral compass can surely see that what is happening over there in Gaza is a tragedy." Bobby added: "We are not pacifist punks here over at Bob Vylan Enterprises. We are the violent punks, because sometimes, you have to get your message across with violence because that is the only language some people speak." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community!
