Singapore is officially one of the world's best cities to explore after dark

For such a tiny city, there's a heck of a lot to do in Singapore. We're talking merry jaunts to our numerous parks and gardens, all-day outings at attractions like Universal Studios Singapore and Gardens by the Bay, mad shopping sprees at Orchard – we could go on. But if you're keen to escape the sweltering daytime heat, then Singapore after-dark has plenty to offer as well, and a new study by long-haul travel specialist Travelbag will attest to that. Here's what Travelbag has done: it has analysed more than 100 major cities, examining Instagram hashtag volume, levels of light and noise pollution, after-dark safety scores, and the number of venues and attractions that stay open well after the sun goes down. The result is a list of the 10 best cities for nighttime tourism, and Singapore ranks at a very respectable No. 4 in the world. For one, Travelbag found that this little red dot has almost 450 venues open late at night. We reckon that this covers expected spots such as bars (which number among the best in the world) and nightclubs (both mainstream and under-the-radar). But let's not forget other attractions you can hit up past dinnertime: how about a moonlit ride on the Singapore Flyer or a heartfelt karaoke night at a KTV studio? And perhaps the best part – the sheer number of supper spots where you can fuel up. Check out our round-up of the best late-night dining places from hotpot restaurants to dim sum joints. The real clincher, though, is that Singapore is so damn safe: we score 77 out of 100 on the after-dark safety measure. It's only the sixth-safest in the list after cities like Abu Dhabi (87 points) and Taipei (85 points), but we can say from experience that this is one of the rare places in the world where you can walk freely at night with little fear. Check out Travelbag's complete study here and a fuller breakdown of Asia's best cities for night tourism here. 10 best cities for night tourism in 2025, according to Travelbag: New York, USA Tokyo, Japan Dubai, UAE Singapore Muscat, Oman Kyoto, Japan Sydney, Australia Seoul, South Korea Toronto, Canada Melbourne, Australia Flying Tiger Copenhagen is slated to open in Singapore this July

Arsenal sign goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea

The 30-year-old Spaniard spent last season on loan at Bournemouth, making 35 appearances in all competitions. Arsenal had brought in Neto from the Cherries as back-up to David Raya, but the Brazilian has returned to the Cherries following the end of his own season-long loan. Here to raise the levels. Kepa Arrizabalaga is a Gunner. — Arsenal (@Arsenal) July 1, 2025 Kepa, who spent the 2023/24 campaign at Real Madrid, has signed a three-year deal, the PA news agency understands. The fee is reported to be around £5million, with the transfer subject to the completion of regulatory processes. 'I'm really, really happy to be here, really excited and looking forward to what is coming,' Kepa told Arsenal's website. 'The ambition that is shown in this club, when I talk with Mikel (Arteta) and (goalkeeping coach) Inaki (Cana), how much they show me their desire to win, I think we are so close to winning and, hopefully, altogether, we can achieve it.' Kepa became the world's most expensive goalkeeper when he joined Chelsea from Athletic Bilbao in a £71m deal during the summer of 2018, going on to win the Europa League and Champions League with the Blues as well as the 2023 UEFA Nations League with Spain. Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is confident Kepa will provide plenty of competition for his compatriot Raya. 'He is a player we know, having come up against him many times in recent seasons,' Arteta said. 'He brings a wealth of experience, which his team-mates will benefit from, and he has a real hunger to win. Goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has departed Chelsea and joined Arsenal. We thank Kepa for his efforts during his time at Stamford Bridge and wish him well in the future. — Chelsea FC (@ChelseaFC) July 1, 2025 'Kepa works hard and will elevate our levels. I know he will fit in perfectly, already knowing some of his team-mates, and we are really excited about his future with us.' Chelsea posted on X: 'We thank Kepa for his efforts during his time at Stamford Bridge and wish him well in the future.' Arsenal also appear to be closing in on deals for Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard and Real Sociedad's Martin Zubimendi. The Gunners are in need of midfield reinforcements, with Thomas Partey having become a free agent after his contract expired and Jorginho also leaving the club earlier this month to join Brazilian club Flamengo.

Meghan's ‘essence of sun-drenched outdoor moments' wine sells out in under hour

Meghan launched her As Ever Napa Valley Rose 2023, described as having 'soft notes of stone fruit, gentle minerality, and a lasting finish', on Tuesday. The beverage, priced at more than £65 for a minimum three-bottle order, had only appeared to be available for US customers to buy, with shipping addresses limited to America. Meghan and the Duke of Sussex left the UK and moved to California five years ago for a new life after stepping down from the working monarchy. A post shared by @aseverofficial The wine went on sale at 4pm UK time, but the site was updated less than hour later to signal stocks were sold out. In a post on Instagram, the duchess' As Ever brand said: 'It's here! Raise a glass to the newest addition to the As ever family. Our beautiful Napa Valley rose is now available'. A short clip showed the wine being poured into a glass, with accompanying sound. The pale pink wine, in a clear bottle with a white gold-rimmed label, was launched on a dedicated where an over-21 birth date must be inputted to enter and where the drink was described as: 'A delicately balanced rose with soft notes of stone fruit, gentle minerality, and a lasting finish.' The site adds: 'Reminiscent of the finest Provencal styles, it's crisp, pale in color, and effortlessly elegant – crafted for slow afternoons and golden-hour gatherings. 'This rose captures the essence of sun-drenched outdoor moments through its thoughtfully crafted blend.' A post shared by @aseverofficial The wine was not available to buy in orders of less than three bottles. Three bottles cost 90 US dollars (£65.64), six bottles cost 159 dollars (£115.97) including a 12% discount, and 12 bottles are priced at 300 dollars (£218.81) including a 17% discount. Shipping, which begins on July 9, cost an additional flat rate 20 dollars (£14.59) per order. Meghan's wine has an ABV (alcohol by volume) of 14.5%. According to the Drink Aware charity, most wines have an ABV of around 11-14%. Meghan added apricot jam to her collection in June after restocking her online store, with items selling out for a second time in a row. A post shared by @aseverofficial The duchess was shown drinking rose during the last episode of her Netflix series With Love, Meghan earlier this year when she offered chef Alice Waters a glass of wine. 'Would you like a glass of rose while we're cooking?' the duchess said, pouring from a bottle which does not appear to be As Ever wine, having a different label. Meghan added as she drank: 'Might be the best sip of wine I've ever had.' Napa Valley wine country is in northern California, around 50 miles from San Francisco.
