They also promised 'high-impact conversations, fresh format strategies, and game-changing insights' from influential industry voices.
More than 85 exhibitors and more than 350 buyers have confirmed their attendance at NATPE Budapest, which has positioned itself as a platform for deal-making, exchange, and content discovery, as well as 'a launchpad for the next wave of formats, scripted hits, and cross-border partnerships.'
One of the big-picture panels set for the event is entitled 'View from the Top: Where do we go from here?' A description promises that it will see industry leaders sharing 'how the industry needs to innovate – and collaborate – to navigate change and build a strong regional media ecosystem.'
The annual Format track will include a look at the next big hit formats and a session entitled 'Cracking the code: Behind Talpa Studios' global hits, featuring the production powerhouse behind The Voice and Big Brother's director of global distribution Sebastian van Barneveld.
A new offering will be 'Format Futures,' described as 'a case studies strand curated by Realscreen,' offering insights into 'the art of transcreation and global scaling strategies.'
Mary Maddever, executive vp Realscreen and executive content director for NATPE, also unveiled that the event will be 'bringing Realscreen's 30 Minutes With format – more intimate briefings with buyers – to Budapest.'
Among other announced sessions are 'How to make a splash on the global stage,' which will put a spotlight on 'emerging formats securing international adaptation … from smaller but highly creative players,' and 'Making it work (locally),' which looks at how, thanks to creative financing and production models along with cultural curation, 'local versions of global franchises have the power to surpass the original by injecting buzz and meeting evolving audience needs.'
Also in Budapest, the inaugural NATPE Honors Europe will recognize 'the bold voices and visionary leaders driving transformation across the European media landscape,' while the popular NATPE Boat Party will be part of the lineup of social events.
'We're excited to offer a dynamic mix of programming and events designed to celebrate innovation, spotlight regional success, and foster meaningful industry connections,' said Claire Macdonald, NATPE's executive director.
NATPE Budapest will take place in the Hungarian capital June 23-26.

Tory Lanez Ordered to Pay Megan Thee Stallion's Legal Fees For ‘Disruptive' Deposition
Tory Lanez has been ordered to cover Megan Thee Stallion's legal fees after he was combative and feigned ignorance of basic facts during a videotaped deposition last April linked to the 'Savage' singer's defamation and cyberstalking lawsuit against YouTube blogger Milagro Gramz. A federal judge issued the sanctions ruling Friday, saying Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, must pay Megan's 'reasonable attorney's fees incurred in taking [his] deposition.' The judge further ruled that a court-ordered, follow-up attempt to take Peterson's deposition would be supervised by a magistrate judge. Peterson accused the lawyer of planning to leak the video 'to fake some sort of narrative.' He also deflected questions by asking for the definitions of words including 'discuss' and 'approve.' Asked at one point if he agreed that Megan Thee Stallion and Megan Pete are the same person, Peterson was evasive. 'There's a lot of Ms. Petes in this world. Which Ms. Pete are you talking about?' he replied. At one point, he instructed his lawyer to 'Google how many Megan Petes there are in the world.' Shortly after the disastrous exam ran off the rails, Pete's lawyers asked that Lanez be held in contempt. In a filing, they said his demeanor was 'so disruptive, inflammatory, and inconsistent with the basic norms of civil litigation' that it 'made a mockery of the proceedings.' While granting the legal fees for the April exam, the judge's new ruling did not go as far as Pete wanted. Her lawyers had asked that Peterson be forced to pay for the follow-up exam as well. The April deposition marked the first time Peterson was forced to answer questions under oath since he accused of assaulting Pete with a semi-automatic firearm on a residential street in Los Angeles five years ago. Peterson is now serving a 10-year sentence after being found guilty of shooting Pete in both feet during the alcohol-fueled incident that followed a party at Kylie Jenner's house. Pete requested the deposition as she pursues her lawsuit against Gramz, whose legal name is Milagro Cooper. Pete claims Cooper spread 'vicious and hateful rumors' about her while acting as Peterson's 'paid surrogate.' Peterson, 33, declined to testify in his own defense at his December 2022 criminal trial that ended with his conviction on all three felony counts. He's now appealing the verdict. A source previously told Rolling Stone that Peterson regretted not testifying in his own defense. While Pete and her lawyers can subpoena any person they believe has information useful to their case, a spokesman for the non-profit organization whose lawyers now represent Peterson said the incarcerated rapper would not be a willing participant in a prison-based deposition. 'If you know Tory Lanez how I do, good luck trying to get him to 'testify' to anything, it's just not what he does,' Ceasar McDowell, CEO of Unite the People, said in a statement previously sent to Rolling Stone. 'He definitely did not 'agree' to testify now.' Cooper's lawyer, Michael Pancier, confirmed that his client did not oppose the deposition. Pete first sued Cooper in October, claiming the YouTuber was part of a 'coordinated campaign' to smear her reputation and harass her as retaliation for her testimony against Peterson at trial. Pete claims Cooper has repeatedly attacked her with claims she suffers from alcoholism and requires a guardian. Pete alleges Cooper also promoted a deepfake pornographic video of her. Cooper denies conspiring with Peterson and tried to get the lawsuit dismissed on the grounds that she was shielded as a journalist. The federal judge overseeing the lawsuit in Florida ruled against Cooper, allowing Pete's lawsuit to proceed. The judge said Pete had made a 'compelling case' that Cooper acted with a 'reckless disregard for the truth.' Cooper's alleged ties to Peterson were mentioned in Pete's recent petition for a restraining order against Peterson. Pete claimed that Peterson used Cooper as a 'puppet and mouthpiece,' pointing to social media posts from October in which Cooper highlighted Peterson's false claim that the gun used in the July 2020 assault had 'gone missing.' The gun remains in police custody. At a hearing in January, Pete gave emotional testimony that touched on her claims about Cooper without naming her directly. 'I haven't been at peace since I been shot, and I'm just trying to be un-harassed, not only by the person who shot me, but by the people he's been paying to continue to harass me,' Pete testified under oath. 'I probably won't ever have my own peace about the situation, but I just really want the harassment from the person who shot me to stop.' Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Richard Bloom granted the request, giving Pete a five-year restraining order against Peterson. The judge cited 'several uncontroverted facts' in his ruling, including 'conduct that culminated in [Lanez] shooting approximately five rounds at petitioner that resulted in injuries to her.' The judge said Peterson must stay at least 100 yards away from Pete and refrain from harassing, intimidating, or threatening her in any way until at least January 9, 2030. Loni Anderson, ‘WKRP in Cincinnati' Star, Dies at 79
Loni Anderson, who starred as shrewd radio station receptionist Jennifer Marlowe on WKRP in Cincinnati before her fairy-tale marriage to and acrimonious divorce from Burt Reynolds kept her uncomfortably in the tabloids, died Sunday. She was 79. A two-time Emmy nominee, Anderson died at noon in Los Angeles from 'an acute prolonged illness,' publicist Cheryl J. Kagan announced. 'I went in and sat on my little soapbox and said, 'I don't want to play this part because she's just here to deliver messages and is window dressing.' Then Hugh said, 'Well, how would you do it?' … He said, 'Let's make her look like Lana Turner and be the smartest person in the room.'' With Jennifer refusing to take dictation, type letters or make coffee as the opposite of the 'dumb blond' stereotype that blanketed TV back then, Anderson starred on all but one of the show's 90 episodes during its four-season run through April 1982. She received Emmy nominations after the second and third years of the series in 1980 and '81 but lost out to Loretta Swit of M*A*S*H and Eileen Brennan of Private Benjamin, respectively. After WKRP, Anderson appeared as Sunday school teacher Pembrook Feeny alongside Reynolds as a NASCAR driver in Stroker Ace (1983), directed by Hal Needham. She and Reynolds had met for the first time in 1981 on The Merv Griffin Show when she was still married to actor Ross Bickell and he was involved with actress Sally Field, and they began dating a year later. (He had been married to actress Judy Carne from 1963-66.) On April 29, 1988, the couple exchanged vows on Reynolds' 160-acre ranch in Jupiter, Florida. She was 41, he was 52. 'We all cried,' said actor Robby Benson, who was a guest. 'It couldn't have been lovelier. Also in '64, she eloped with Bruce Hasselberg, the brother of a fellow Miss Minnesota contestant. They had a daughter, Deidra, but their marriage was effectively over in a matter of months. The 5-foot-7 Anderson donned a blond wig and was hired to play Billie (in the role made famous by Judy Holliday) on a Minneapolis stage in Born Yesterday, kickstarting her career. She was in another play with veteran actor Pat O'Brien, who told her she should try her hand in Hollywood. She moved to Los Angeles in 1975 with Bickell, dyed her hair platinum blond and found steady TV work, including a guest-starring stint on MTM's The Bob Newhart Show as a woman who files a paternity suit against Dr. Hartley patient Elliot Carlin (Jack Riley), then wants to rescind it. Anderson didn't land the Three's Company gig because 'she was too beautiful, too savvy,' John Ritter said in Chris Mann's 1998 book, Come and Knock on My Door. 'No one would believe she couldn't live in her own apartment, that she would have to struggle to get the rent paid.' Suzanne Somers, of course, would gain fame as Chrissie. Bickell had auditioned for the part of Andy Travis on WKRP and told her about the Jennifer opportunity. After getting hired, she would have an affair with Gary Sandy, who would play Travis the station manager, she revealed in her 1995 autobiography, My Life in High Heels. In the summer of 1980, she asked for a big raise from the WKRP producers and got it. In 1984, Anderson starred with Lynda Carter as private detectives who share an ex-husband who is murdered on NBC's Partners in Crime, which lasted just 13 episodes. Also that year, she appeared as herself in The Lonely Guy, starring Steve Martin. She reunited with Wilson in 1986 on the NBC comedy Easy Street, playing a former showgirl who inherits a bundle after her younger husband dies, much to the dismay of his sister. It lasted one season. After marrying Reynolds, they voiced pooches in All Dogs Go to Heaven (1989), appeared in 1990 on an episode of his short-lived ABC series B.L. Stryker and attempted to portray husband and wife on a new CBS series, Evening Shade, but network execs wanted Marilu Henner instead. In 1991, Anderson let a chance to replace the fired Delta Burke on CBS' Designing Women slip away but returned as Jennifer for two episodes of The New WKRP in Cincinnati. She joined the third and final season of the NBC sitcom Nurses in 1993. Meanwhile, her marriage was falling apart. Reynolds served her with divorce papers in June 1993 and began publicly bashing her, saying she had cheated on him and calling her unfit to raise their son, Quinton, whom they adopted weeks after his 1988 birth. She said he was the one having an affair and that he was hooked on painkillers and had abused her. 'I'm very happy that we were able to sell papers for a year and a half,' Reynolds told reporters in 1994. 'Why that doesn't translate into money, I don't know. … I'm glad America is curious about us.' During David Letterman's Top 10 List on his inaugural Late Show broadcast on CBS on Aug. 30, 1993, No. 3 on the list of the 'Ways the New Show Will Be Better' was: 'I'm more focused since my break-up with Loni.' One of the nastiest divorces in Hollywood history became official in December 1994, and two years later, Reynolds filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. It wasn't until September 2015, when he wrote Anderson a check for $154,520, that their financial ties would finally end. However, Anderson said she and Reynolds would occasionally meet with their son and that after the actor died in September 2018, she spoke at his funeral and would keep his ashes. Anderson also played the conniving Teri Carson on Melrose Place in 1996 and Tori Spelling's materialistic mother in So Notorious in 2006, and her résumé included work on Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Clueless, The Mullets, My Sister Is So Gay and A Night at the Roxbury (1998). In addition to her daughter and son, survivors include her fourth husband, folk singer and musician Bob Flick (The Brothers Four), whom she married in May 2008 after they first met 45 years earlier; grandchildren Megan and McKenzie; stepson Adam; and step-grandchildren Felix and Maximilian. A private family service will be held at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery followed by a celebration of life at a future date. Contributions in her memory can be made to the National Lung Health Education Program and/or the American Cancer Society. 'Loni was a class act. Beautiful. Talented. Witty.
