PHOENIX (AP) — Agustín Ramírez hit a run-scoring single in the 10th inning, Heriberto Hernández had a tying sacrifice fly in the ninth and the Miami Marlins stretched their winning streak to six games with an 8-7 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday.
Arizona led 7-3 entering the eighth inning, but Miami's Otto Lopez hit a two-run homer off Jalen Beeks and Liam Hicks followed with a run-scoring single to pull Miami to 7-6. Hernández tied it in ninth on a sacrifice fly off Shelby Miller after Dane Myers singled and stole two bases.

Ramírez lined a run-scoring single off Juan Morillo (0-2) in the 10th. Anthony Bender (2-5) was perfect over the final two innings to close out Miami's comeback.
Arizona's Ketel Marte homered and had four RBIs in his second home game since an emotional road trip to Chicago.
Arizona starter Brandon Pfaadt got off to shaky start, allowing two runs in the first inning — one on shortstop Geraldo Perdomo's fielding error.
Pfaadt struck out the next three batters and allowed three runs — two earned — on five hits and struck out seven in five innings.
Alcantara gave up a run on Pavin Smith's sacrifice fly in the first inning and five more in the fourth, capped by Marte's three-run homer that put Arizona up 6-3.

Alcantara allowed seven runs on 10 hits in six innings.

Myers was initially called out on his steal of third in the ninth, but it was overturned upon review. He scored easily on Hernandez's sacrifice fly to right.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are telling rival clubs they plan to trade at least some of their veterans. But the extent to which the DBacks will sell is not yet clear, according to sources briefed on their plans. The number of deals the DBacks complete before next Thursday's trade deadline will hinge on a variety of factors. The level of interest in their players. Whether the proposals they receive for their qualifying-offer candidates exceeds the potential draft-pick compensation. The assessment of club officials about the team's ability to compete for the third wild-card spot. Advertisement After getting swept at home by the injury-depleted Houston Astros, the Diamondbacks sit 5 1/2 games behind the San Diego Padres, the team currently in the third position. Three clubs – the San Francisco Giants, Cincinnati Reds and St. Louis Cardinals – are ahead of Arizona. But none is especially imposing, and St. Louis is expected to sell. The Diamondbacks are reluctant to concede, knowing that in 2023 they secured the sixth and final NL seed with 84 wins, then went on a spectacular run to the World Series. But they already are down three pitchers for the start of next season – right-hander Corbin Burnes and relievers Justin Martinez and A.J. Puk. Their potential free agents, some of the most attractive players on the market, possibly could bring the young pitching the DBacks intend to seek. Third baseman Eugenio Suárez, fourth in the majors with 36 homers and first with 86 RBIs, might be the best hitter available. Right-hander Zac Gallen, despite his 5.58 ERA, will be one of the best pitchers. Righty Merrill Kelly and first baseman Josh Naylor also are on expiring contracts. It is unlikely the DBacks would trade both Gallen and Kelly. The team's other potential free agents include outfielder Randal Grichuk and reliever Shelby Miller, who currently is on the injured list. Neither of those players would be under consideration for one-year qualifying offers in the $22 million range. But Suárez, Gallen, Naylor and Kelly all would. To move any of the four, general manager Mike Hazen would need to clear the value of the draft pick, which would be between the first round and Competitive Balance Round A as long as the player signed for at least $50 million in free agency. Kelly, who turns 37 in October, might be the only one of the DBacks' big four who commands a deal of less than $50 million. The pick for him then would be after Competitive Balance Round B, at or around No. 75. With each extra choice, the Diamondbacks' bonus pool also would increase. Advertisement The Diamondbacks, according to a source, are scouting the minor-league systems of at least some of the teams interested in Suárez. Those teams, according to sources and published reports, include the New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs, New York Mets, Cincinnati Reds and Seattle Mariners. The demand for Suárez makes him the the most likely of the DBacks players to move, with top prospect Jordan Lawlar ready to step in for him at third base. Brittney Griner honored in Phoenix return, leads Dream to win over former Mercury
Brittney Griner returned to Phoenix for the first time since spending her first 11 seasons there on Wednesday night. Now with the Atlanta Dream, Griner racked up 17 points and nine rebounds against her former Mercury to lead her current squad to a 90-79 victory. The Mercury honored Griner with a tribute video before the game, with longtime teammate Diana Taurasi sitting courtside. "When I looked over and saw D and Penny [Taylor] over there, it kind of ignited me a little bit. Just being back on the court where I basically started my career on, played the majority of it, it just felt good. The crowd, seeing familiar faces, hearing old stories, signing jerseys that I've signed like a thousand times, it was good. It was a really good feeling." Griner helped the Mercury to a WNBA championship in 2014. With Phoenix, she was named an All-Star nine times, was twice the Defensive Player of the Year, and was constantly in the MVP conversation. She missed the 2022 season due to being detained in Russia. In 315 games with the Mercury, in which she started each of them, she put up 17.7 points and 7.4 rebounds per game, while also blocking 2.6 shots per contest. In her back-to-back DPOY seasons, she put up 3.8 and 4.0 blocks per game. Griner has started all 21 games she has played for the Dream this year, putting up 10.2 points and 5.7 rebounds. Her 17 points on Wednesday were her fourth-most this season. Griner signed a one-year deal with the Dream over the offseason. She is writing herself a Hall of Fame resume, being a two-time scoring champ and leading the WNBA in blocks eight times. She also has been named to seven All-Defensive teams.

Orioles closer Félix Bautista placed on injured list with right shoulder discomfort
CLEVELAND — Baltimore Orioles closer Félix Bautista, who is tied for sixth in the American League with 19 saves, was placed on the 15-day injured list Thursday with right shoulder discomfort. Interim manager Tony Mansolino said the right-hander felt uncomfortable while stretching in the bullpen Wednesday during a 3-2 loss to the Cleveland Guardians. Bautista will undergo an MRI when the Orioles return home Friday. 'The (dugout) phone rang in the seventh inning last night and I thought, 'That is not good,'' Mansolino said. 'Then I heard it get slammed down and knew it wasn't good. 'Félix had started his process of getting loose and that's when it flared up.' Bautista did not pitch in the first three games of the series in Cleveland, last seeing action on Sunday at Tampa Bay when he earned his 19th save in 20 opportunities. He missed the entire 2024 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery. The 30-year-old Dominican has a 1-1 record and 2.60 ERA in 35 appearances, limiting opponents to a .134 batting average over 34 2/3 innings. Bautista has struck out 50 and walked 23. 'We just have to hope it's not too serious,' Mansolino said. The Orioles will use a closer-by-committee in the short term with righty setup men Seranthony Domínguez and Yennier Cano at the front of the line. 'We're going to have to bump up their roles,' Mansolino said. 'We'll figure it out.' Bautista will not enter free agency until 2028, but is eligible for arbitration following this season. The 6-foot-8, 285-pounder is in the final year of a two-year, $2 million contract.
