The subtle signs that hinted at Meghan Markle's latest business foray as the Duchess's wine goes on sale
Tomorrow Meghan's Napa Valley rosé wine will go on sale on her As Ever website.
Sourced from the famous wine-growing region in California, up the west coast from her Montecito mansion, it has been described as having 'soft notes of stone fruit, gentle minerality and a lasting finish'.
While the sale of the alcoholic beverage is a major pivot for Meghan's lifestyle brand - which previously sold a collection of jams, honey, teas and baking mixtures - it nevertheless remains an unsurprising move considering that the Duchess has made no secret of her love for a glass of wine.
In fact, Meghan's fondness of the tipple was the inspiration behind the name of her first attempt to create a lifestyle brand - 'The Tig'.
The name was short for Tignanello - a red wine that Meghan is known to be particularly fond of.
Through her lifestyle blog, which was active from 2014 till 2017, Meghan wrote about an array of topics including food, travel and fashion.
Intertwined throughout her posts were her affection for wine.
In one recipe Meghan shared how to make a red wine hot chocolate and her blogs about her travels around the world always found time to honour wine o'clock.
In one post she spoke about enjoying wine during a trip to Mdina, Malta, and in another she wrote a bottle of rosé she paired with lobster on the Caribbean island of Saint Barthelemy.
More recently, she was seen day drinking throughout her latest Netflix series With Love, Meghan.
The mother-of-two, 43, invited all of her closest celebrity pals, including Mindy Kaling and Roy Choi over to a luxurious farmhouse in Montecito, a couple of miles away from her actual home.
And she certainly showed how to be the perfect hostess, as Meghan supplied a range of alcoholic beverages for her guests throughout the eight episodes.
She mixed up a range of cocktails such as mimosas which she enjoyed with her best friends Kelly Zajfen and Suits co-star Abigail Spencer, and sipped wine alongside chef Alice Waters.
Celebrity friend and The Office star Mindy appeared slightly taken aback by the offer of an alcoholic drink when Meghan declared let's 'have a little beverage' alongside their frittata in episode two.
'I like just a wink of fruit flavour in my bubbles,' explained the duchess, before offering the actress an array of juices that could be added to the champagne.
'I think this is the earliest that I've had alcohol in a long time,' replied Mindy, to which Meghan joked: 'Oh, welcome to Montecito.'
'Am I going to get hammered?' a concerned Mindy questioned - but the Duchess was quick to reassure her, adding: 'No, that's why I'm feeding you.'
The duchess ended her series with a glass of bubbly in her hand where shed hosted a brunch outside with her close friends and family members - including Prince Harry and her mother Doria Ragland.
The decision to launch the wine on July 1 has raised eyebrows among royal fans after it was quickly pointed out by hundreds of people on social media, that it is Princess Diana's birthday.
Royal commentator Victoria Arbiter replied to the post on social media with exasperation by simply writing: 'July 1st, Diana's birthday...'
A slew of royal fans also complained at the timing, with one claiming Meghan was 'literally dining out on Diana's memory', and another said the choice was 'tacky'.
And although the price tag of the wine is yet to be confirmed, another royal watcher claimed: 'She is using Diana to flog cheap wine.'
'Nothing if not predictable by now,' said another, as one chimed in 'she is incredibly tone-deaf'.
The Sussexes have long shown little respect for the tightly regulated royal calendar and would regularly make news while other members of the family were on engagements - a big royal no-no.
Meghan didn't mention the late royal in her post announcing the wine, but the duchess has previously spoken about Diana, describing her as 'someone I wish I'd had the chance to know'.
To celebrate the day she was born, July 1 is often used by friends and family of Diana to share memories and talk about her impact.
Last year Sarah Ferguson shared a touching tribute to her 'dear friend' and former sister-in-law by calling her a 'kindred spirit' and 'pillar of light and love'.
And a few years prior the Daily Mail's celebrated royal correspondent Richard Kay and close friend of Princess Diana published his own heartbreaking tribute to her legacy.
Her birthday was still such an important date that it managed to get both of her sons, now sadly estranged, to one of her favourite spots for reflection in 2021.
Despite having barely spoken to each other and having an 'incredibly strained' relationship after two years of rows since the couple's decision to emigrate to America, both William and Harry attended an unveiling at Kensington Palace's Sunken Garden.
They had gathered, along with Diana's brother and sisters, to unveil a new statue of the princess 24 years after her death in a horrific car crash in Paris in 1997.
William and Harry put aside their personal differences and stood shoulder-to-shoulder to unveil the bronze statue of their mother.
In a very rare joint statement released that afternoon, the brothers said: 'Today, on what would have been our Mother's 60th birthday, we remember her love, strength and character – qualities that made her a force for good around the world, changing countless lives for the better.'

Kristin Cavallari rare snap with lookalike daughter amid child custody woes with ex Jay Cutler
Kristin Cavallari shared a rare snap of her daughter Saylor James, nine, calling her a 'Future CEO' in the caption. The reality star, 38, wore a slightly sheer knit white top with a matching skirt as she cuddled up next to her mini-me daughter in the snap. They took their adorable mom/daughter selfie in the bathroom, which she shared on Monday to her Instagram story. Kristin calling her daughter a 'future CEO' comes after the former Laguna Beach star revealed that Saylor wants to take over her Uncommon James jewelry line one day. The TV star shares Saylor and sons Jaxon, 10, and Camden, 12, with ex-husband Jay Cutler. The cute post comes just months after she shared another snap with Saylor - this time as they made pieces for the star's jewelry line. Cavallari and her daughter could be seen standing around a long table that had various pieces spread out on top. At one point, Saylor pointed at a beaded necklace and the pair also shared their thoughts on a pair of earrings. As the nine-year-old continued to pick out jewelry items, the mom-of-three flashed a proud smile on her face. Kristin added text towards the bottom of the clip which read: 'How it feels designing jewelry with your mom.' The star also took to her main page to upload an adorable selfie of the pair while further taking her fans on a behind-the-scenes look as they designed pieces together. Fans flocked to the comment section to point out how Kristin and her daughter look alike, with one penning, 'Stopppp shes your twin! So precious!!' Another wrote, 'Your stunning mini. thank you for sharing her with us and congrats on your collab boss ladies!' 'This is precious! Congrats Mama & Saylor,' an Instagram user added, while one typed, 'She is your Twin.' In April, Kristin revealed that Saylor wants to take over Uncommon James one day when she's older. 'She's been telling everybody. I think the whole school knows about it. When it came out, she actually had all of her little girlfriends over, and she gifted everyone the collection,' she told People at the time. 'And it's just been really fun for me to see how excited she is about this and to be able to do this. She has all the plans to take over Uncommon James one day, and I honestly do feel like she probably will because she is very into it for being nine years old,' she said. The media personality has recently begun showing her children more frequently on social media after hiding their faces for privacy. She previously shared another glimpse of Saylor as they prepared a tasty dish with strawberries in the kitchen of the star's Tennessee abode. Cavallari's daughter could be seen carefully slicing red strawberries with a knife on a cutting board. In the background, Kristin could be heard saying, 'My little helper! Chopping 'em up!' Kristin launched her jewelry brand Uncommon James back in 2017 - and both she and her daughter were seemingly putting together pieces for the new kids jewelry line called Saylor's Summer Break. The description is a 'collection of necklaces, earrings, and a beaded bracelet that brings playful designs and bright colors to their look,' per the official website. The prices for the line range from $18-$22 and offer products such as flamingo stud earrings and a gold-chained, wave necklace. At the time of the company's official launch, Cavallari spoke with PeopleStyle to give insight about the name of the brand - and also gave credit to her then-husband Jay Cutler. 'James is my daughter's middle name. It was also my brother's middle name, but I really love it for a female, even though it's "uncommon."' The star added that she initially wanted to simply name the brand James but knew it would be 'impossible to patent' and explained 'Jay came up with Uncommon and I loved it. So yes, I have him to thank.' In regards to the brand itself, the actress expressed, 'I really wanted to do a line that was really personal and a true reflection of my style, and I wanted to be really involved. 'I wanted to have a hand in every facet of the company. So I was really excited to start my own and it's very exciting for me because it is my own.' Last week, Kristin revealed the new custody arrangement with Jay. 'I did have my kids full-time for a while, and now I have them except for every other weekend,' Kristin said on her Let's Be Honest podcast. Adding: 'I'm not gonna get into the reasoning or the legality of it.' She was married to former football player Jay Cutler from 2013 until they split in April 2020, with their divorce finalized in June 2022. In August 2022, Kristin said on the Call Her Daddy podcast that their relationship was 'toxic' and that she ignored the 'red flags' when she first called off their engagement in July 2011 before reuniting five months later and tying the knot.

Meghan's ‘essence of sun-drenched outdoor moments' wine sells out in under hour
The Duchess of Sussex's new rose wine, which is said to 'capture the essence of sun-drenched outdoor moments' and costs more than £20 a bottle, has sold out within an hour. Meghan launched her As Ever Napa Valley Rose 2023, described as having 'soft notes of stone fruit, gentle minerality, and a lasting finish', on Tuesday. The beverage, priced at more than £65 for a minimum three-bottle order, had only appeared to be available for US customers to buy, with shipping addresses limited to America. Meghan and the Duke of Sussex left the UK and moved to California five years ago for a new life after stepping down from the working monarchy. The wine went on sale at 4pm UK time, but the site was updated less than hour later to signal stocks were sold out. In a post on Instagram, the duchess' As Ever brand said: 'It's here! Raise a glass to the newest addition to the As ever family. Our beautiful Napa Valley rose is now available'. A short clip showed the wine being poured into a glass, with accompanying sound. The pale pink wine, in a clear bottle with a white gold-rimmed label, was launched on a dedicated where an over-21 birth date must be inputted to enter and where the drink was described as: 'A delicately balanced rose with soft notes of stone fruit, gentle minerality, and a lasting finish.' The site adds: 'Reminiscent of the finest Provencal styles, it's crisp, pale in color, and effortlessly elegant – crafted for slow afternoons and golden-hour gatherings. 'This rose captures the essence of sun-drenched outdoor moments through its thoughtfully crafted blend.' The wine was not available to buy in orders of less than three bottles. Three bottles cost 90 US dollars (£65.64), six bottles cost 159 dollars (£115.97) including a 12% discount, and 12 bottles are priced at 300 dollars (£218.81) including a 17% discount. Shipping, which begins on July 9, cost an additional flat rate 20 dollars (£14.59) per order. Meghan's wine has an ABV (alcohol by volume) of 14.5%. According to the Drink Aware charity, most wines have an ABV of around 11-14%. Meghan added apricot jam to her collection in June after restocking her online store, with items selling out for a second time in a row. The duchess was shown drinking rose during the last episode of her Netflix series With Love, Meghan earlier this year when she offered chef Alice Waters a glass of wine. 'Would you like a glass of rose while we're cooking?' the duchess said, pouring from a bottle which does not appear to be As Ever wine, having a different label. Meghan added as she drank: 'Might be the best sip of wine I've ever had.' Napa Valley wine country is in northern California, around 50 miles from San Francisco.
