Trump says he's ‘not too big into' sunbathing as he shrugs off Iranian threat of poolside assassination

WASHINGTON — President Trump brushed off an Iranian official's threat to assassinate him using a drone as he tans at Mar-a-Lago — saying he hasn't sunbathed in years. 'It's been a long time. I don't know, maybe I was around seven or so. I'm not too big into it,' the president told reporters at the White House Wednesday. 'I guess it's a threat. I'm not sure it's a threat, actually, but perhaps it is.' Advertisement Javad Larijani, a senior adviser to Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Khamanei, told Iranian state TV that Trump, 79, could face retribution for bombing three key nuclear sites last month in support of an Israeli mission to prevent the Islamic republic from developing nuclear weapons. President Trump said he's unlikely to be caught sunbathing after an Iranian official threatened a drone attack. REUTERS 'Trump has done something so that he can no longer sunbathe in Mar-a-Lago,' Larijani said. Advertisement 'As he lies there with his stomach to the sun, a small drone might hit him in the navel. It's very simple.' Trump, who frequently soaks up the sun while golfing on weekends, is reputed to favor spray-tanning. Tehran agreed to a Trump-brokered cease-fire with Israel nearly 48 hours after the US strikes and has not meaningfully retaliated, other than by firing a symbolic volley of missiles at a US airbase in Qatar, for which it provided advance notice allowing for evacuation and interception. Iran allegedly tried to assassinate Trump previously as payback for the US leader's 2020 assassination of Iranian Gen. Qasem Soleimani with an airstrike in Iraq. Advertisement Iran's political leaders have not meaningfully retaliated for US airstrikes last month. REUTERS The Justice Department in November charged Farhad Shakeri, who remains at large, for allegedly working with Iran to monitor and murder Trump. Two alleged conspirators, Carlisle Rivera of Brooklyn and Jonathan Loadholt of Staten Island, were arrested. An Iranian-made video from 2022 depicted Trump being assassinated on a golf course, with the film reportedly winning Khamanei's animation contest for work 'on the topic of revenge on Trump [and other] murderers of Gen. #Soleimani.'

Monty Python's Terry Gilliam: Trump ‘destroyed satire'

Monty Python's Terry Gilliam said President Trump 'destroyed satire' in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter. 'He's f—– up the latest film I was working on,' the British filmmaker and comedian said in the interview, released Tuesday, when talking about Trump. 'Because it was a satire about the last several years when things were going as they were. He's turned it upside down. So he's killed my movie.' 'That's 'The Carnival at the End of Days,' right?' The Hollywood Reporter asked Gilliam. 'Yes. I had a sub-title that said: 'Great fun for all of those who enjoy taking offense.' That was how I approached it. I think Trump has destroyed satire. I mean, how can you be satirical about what's going on in the way he's doing the world?' Gilliam responded. 'With 'Carnival,' the other day I was thinking I was going to put a little preamble on it saying that what you're about to see takes place during the period historians refer to as the Trump lost years from 2020 to 2024,' he added. In 2020, English actor and comedian Eric Idle, another member of Monty Python, threatened to sue the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) for the use of a Monty Python song in a political attack ad. Idle posted online that the NRCC had 'stolen' Monty Python's 'Lumberjack Song' in an ad taking aim at a Democratic representative. 'While we sue these low life thieving reprobates lets VOTE for Cindy to piss them off,' Idle said in his post. 'Are all Republicans now lawless? Whatever happened to America?' The Hill has reached out to the White House for comment.

Greene: People ‘not going to accept' memo saying there's no Epstein client list

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) lashed out at the Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI on Wednesday over their memo saying disgraced financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein did not leave behind a 'client list' after dying in prison in 2019. 'I think the Department of Justice and the FBI has more explaining to do — this is Jeffrey Epstein,' Greene said in an interview on the Real America's Voice network, where her partner is the chief White House correspondent. 'This is the most famous pedophile in modern-day history, and people are absolutely not going to accept just a memo that was written that says there is no client list.' Attorney General Pam Bondi said earlier this year that the Epstein client list was on her desk. She explained this week that she was referring more generally to files related to the case. President Trump admonished reporters Tuesday who asked about the new memo, which sought to quell conspiracy theories about Epstein's associates and his cause of death. The DOJ released video footage Tuesday that Bondi said confirmed that Epstein died by suicide in a New York City prison cell while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. 'You still talking about Jeffrey Epstein? This guy's been talked about for years,' the president said to a reporter during a Cabinet meeting at the White House. 'I can't believe you're asking a question on Epstein at a time like this, where we're having some of the greatest success and also tragedy with what happened in Texas — it just seems like a desecration.' Trump hobnobbed with Epstein in decades past, as part of elite social circles in Manhattan, where Trump centered his pre-presidency business empire, and Palm Beach, Fla., where the president's Mar-a-Lago luxury resort is located. Trump has maintained that the two men had a falling out before revelations around Epstein's sex crimes. 'I haven't spoken to him in 15 years,' Trump told reporters in June 2019 during his first presidency, after Epstein was arrested. 'I was not a fan of his — that I can tell you.' Greene was among a chorus of MAGA figures who tore into the administration's final determination Tuesday. Greene claimed Wednesday that British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell, an Epstein confidante found guilty in a child sex trafficking case in 2021, requested that 'her own little black book be kept private and secret that had over 2,000 names in it of famous celebrities, world leaders, foreign leaders and very rich businessmen.' 'So, we are not accepting the fact that there is no so-called client list or a group of people that may have been blackmailed by Jeffrey Epstein, given with evidence that he had gathered on them with these horrific activities,' Greene said.
