Yahoo3 days ago

Netflix has greenlit a second season for the modern Western series Ransom Canyon, about three rival ranching families in Texas Hill Country.
Josh Duhamel will returns as stoic rancher Staten Kirkland, with Minka Kelly as Quinn O'Grady. 'As the battle to save Ransom wages on, a mysterious cowboy drifts into town, dredging up secrets from the past. 'Star Trek' Star Says Being on the Show Is ‘Intimidating'

'Star Trek' Star Says Being on the Show Is 'Intimidating' originally appeared on Parade. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds actor Ethan Peck, who plays Mr. Spock, is opening up about starring in the beloved Paramount+ series. While speaking to Cherry the Geek TV at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival on June 14, Peck explained why working on Star Trek: SNW can be intimidating at times. "It's more intimidating than inspiring to be honest with you because there's so much incredible work that's being done, there's so much money involved," said Peck during the interview. "And of course, as an actor, you're like, 'Okay show up, now do it.' You know what I mean? So it's pretty intimidating. But now, that we've been on this for years, I think we're a little comfortable with that responsibility." Peck also shared that he was not a Star Trek fan before starring as Mr. Spock, who was originally played by late actor Leonard Nimoy in Star Trek: The Original Series, which aired from 1966 to 1969. As fans are aware, Star Trek: SNW is a prequel to Star Trek: TOS. In addition, Peck said he didn't realize he was auditioning for the role of Spock when reading for the second season of Star Trek: Discovery, which aired in 2019. "I didn't know what I was auditioning for when I first got the audition and when I found out what it was I was shocked. And stunned," said Peck during the interview. Peck also shared that he believed Star Trek: SNW's premise of exploration and appreciating each other's differences is an important message. "The whole purpose is kind of to display or make an example of a way of being that isn't so hateful and fearful. And so it's really about being curious about that, which is other from you. And I think that's a message that never ceases to be important," said the 39-year-old actor. Peck expressed his appreciation for Star Trek: SNW, which premiered in 2022, during a February 2025 interview with MUSE TV. "I feel so incredibly lucky. I feel very fortunate. It's got such an incredible humanistic message and I've very proud to be a part of that," said Peck. ‘The Waterfront' Dethroned In Netflix's Top 10 List By A New Show

The Waterfront Well, it's that time. The Waterfront had its run on top of Netflix's top 10 list, but now it's been capsized by a show that it was never going to be able to escape. That, of course, is the return of Squid Game for its third and allegedly final season. Squid Game season 1 remains the most-watched season of any show in Netflix history. Squid Game season 2 is inside the top 5. I expect season 3 will probably top 2, and now it's arrived with a six-episode finale run. There was a zero percent chance it wouldn't arrive at #1, and here we are. The Waterfront has had a solid run since its debut, starting at #1 and continuing until this dethroning that was always going to happen. If Squid Game did not show up, I imagine it would have remained in that spot for some time. It's a great start for the series that is angling for a second season, and as I've said before, I absolutely believe that will happen as Netflix looks to fill the water-based crime series hole left by Bloodline and Ozark, both of which ran for multiple seasons. It's only a matter of time until we hear the same for The Waterfront. Squid Game Squid Game? It's shown up with slightly better critic scores than season 2 but worse audience scores, dropping from a 61% to a lower 53%. I'm only halfway through, but I'm not sure why. Episode 2 was easily one of the best entries in the entire series. Again, this is the final season, but its creator has a clear idea for a spin-off that takes place between seasons 1 and 2 and has not ruled out a potential sequel either, he says. The rest of the list has Ginny and Georgia performing extremely well, given how long ago it aired. It was already renewed for a fourth season ages ago, so there is no waiting around for that news. America's Sweethearts: The Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders series seems to be one of Netflix's more popular reality series these days, and I can't imagine why. Expect it to return. Two licensed shows are doing well, Animal Kingdom and Blindspot, which arrive with six seasons and five seasons, respectively, for viewers to chew through. The question now is how long will Squid Game season 3 stay on top. If it's any less than two weeks, I'd be a bit surprised, as Netflix has cleared its release slate for a while for this reason. But this is the least amount of episodes a season has had, so that means viewers will finish more quickly. We will keep an eye on it. Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, Bluesky and Instagram. Is ‘Squid Game' returning for season 4? Everything we know so far

By Aman Shukla Published on June 28, 2025, 17:30 IST Last updated June 28, 2025, 11:04 IST If you're anything like me, you've probably been glued to Netflix, binge-watching Squid Game Season 3, which dropped on June 27, 2025. The show's wild ride of deadly games, gut-punching drama, and sharp jabs at society has kept us hooked since that first Red Light, Green Light game. But now that Season 3 is out, wrapping up Seong Gi-hun's story, everyone's asking: is Squid Game Season 4 happening, or is this the end? Let's dive into everything we know about the show's future. So, Is Squid Game Season 4 Happening? Straight to the point: no, Squid Game Season 4 isn't in the cards. Hwang Dong-hyuk, the mastermind behind the series, has been clear that Season 3 is the final chapter for the main story. At a press conference in Seoul, he said, 'We don't have plans for a fourth season. That was decided while working on Season 3.' He's poured his heart into telling Gi-hun's tale, and after years of crafting this dystopian world—starting with his first draft in 2009—he's ready to close the book on it. Hwang's also been open about how grueling the process was. He's mentioned losing teeth from the stress of making the show, which sounds like a nightmare. So, it makes sense he'd want to wrap things up after three seasons. That said, he's not slamming the door shut on the Squid Game universe entirely—just the main storyline with Gi-hun. Why End It After Season 3? Hwang's decision to stop at Season 3 isn't just about burnout. He's said in interviews, like one with The Hollywood Reporter , that he feels he's told the story he set out to tell. The show's always been about more than just survival games; it's a raw look at how society chews people up, especially through Gi-hun's eyes. By the end of Season 3, Hwang believes he's landed that message. Plus, let's be real—stretching the show further could get stale. Some critics, like folks at ScreenRant , have pointed out that another season of Gi-hun fighting the game's shadowy organizers might feel like retreading old ground. Seasons 2 and 3 were shot back-to-back and written as one big arc, split for maximum impact. It's a smart move to go out on a high note rather than risk dragging things out.
