Analyst points to an Eagles X-factor that no one saw coming
They've long been viewed as the NFL's top offensive line, and for good reason. We've seen the Philadelphia Eagles trade one Pro Football Hall of Fame talent for another. Jeff Stoutland is the maestro and a great teacher.
Since joining Philadelphia as part of Chip Kelly's staff, we've seen Coach Stoutland turn great players into Pro Bowlers (Brandon Brooks). We saw him turn a Pro Bowler into a surefire Hall of Famer (Jason Peters). Then, he did it again (Jason Kelce).
Two Eagles are mentioned in tandem as the Eagles' biggest X-factor
Lane Johnson's place in Canton, Ohio, is all but assured. He's the elder statesman on the Philadelphia offensive line now. With him are a perennial Pro Bowler (Landon Dickerson) and another in the making (Cam Jurgens).
Jordan Mailata recently made his debut on the NFL's Top 100 Players list, a ranking constructed annually by the votes of players. He's the first Eagle mentioned this time around, and he lands at 69.
ESPN recently ranked the best projected starting lineups. The Ravens claimed the top spot. The Eagles land right behind them at number two.
The tandem of Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata is named as their biggest strength. There's no surprise there. They've received praise all offseason, and deservedly so. Their biggest X-factors are Tyler Steen and/or Kenyon Green. Kelee Ringo is named as the nonstarter to know.
Seth Walder was among the heavyweights who offered an assist. Here's some of his take on Steen and Green.
"Last year's offensive line reclamation project, Mekhi Becton, left in free agency (yielding a projected fifth-round compensatory pick for the Eagles in 2026, per OverTheCap.com). But questions remain. Who will fill his void at right guard? Can offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland continue to work his magic? If the answer to the latter question is "yes," then Philadelphia should have a stout line across the board yet again."
Steen again hopes to win a starting job at right guard. He lost that job to Jurgens in 2023 and Becton in 2024. He won't be given anything this time around either, but if he accomplishes his goal and cracks the starting lineup, he can be special along Philadelphia's offensive front. He has the right teammates and the right teacher. The sky could be the limit in 2025.

Eagles email survey to season-ticket holders about new stadium, renovations at Lincoln Financial Field
In an email to season-ticket holders on Thursday, the Philadelphia Eagles sent a survey about potential renovations to Lincoln Financial Field or the possibility of a brand new stadium. "As we look to the future, we're committed to delivering the best-in-class gameday experience for Philadelphia Eagles fans," the email read. "To help guide this vision, we're exploring potential updates to Lincoln Financial Field — including both renovation options and the possibility of a brand new stadium in the region." The Eagles' lease with the city is set to expire in 2032. The survey sent to fans comes as Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie expressed potential interest in bringing a Super Bowl to Philadelphia, but that would require adding a retractable roof to the stadium. "I don't have a strong opinion on it, because you're torn," Lurie told CBS Sports at Super Bowl media night earlier this year. "I love outdoor football. I love it. I love the cold games. I like the hot games. I like the snow games. On the other hand, Philadelphia deserves to host the Super Bowl, NCAA Final Four, and lots of great events. It's an incredible sports city, so yes, you got to balance all those things." The Linc opened in 2003, and the 2025 season will be the 23rd football season at the stadium. In that span, the Birds have gone to four Super Bowls and won two. The Eagles have done renovations to the Linc since opening, but they would need a roof to host an event like the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl hasn't been hosted in an open-air stadium with cold weather since it was at MetLife Stadium in 2014. The Linc recently hosted the FIFA Club World Cup and will host the World Cup in 2026, and the city will host other events like NCAA Tournament games and the 2026 MLB All-Star Game. The South Philly Sports Complex is set to undergo a makeover over the next several years and that could include a new Eagles stadium if the team decides to go that route. Earlier this year, the Flyers and Sixers announced they would open a new shared arena to replace the Wells Fargo Center. The Sixers had initially pushed to build a new arena in Center City, but the deal fell through. In the last 10 years, four NFL teams — the Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Rams, Atlanta Falcons and Minnesota Vikings — have all opened new stadiums. Each of them are either a dome or have a retractable roof. Philadelphia's NFC East rival, the Washington Commanders, is also working to build a new stadium.

Svensson's sizzling 60 sets PGA Tour tournament record
Adam Svensson has made a 48-foot eagle putt on the closing hole to complete an 11-under-par 60 to claim a two-shot lead after one round of the PGA Tour's 3M Open. Svensson also made nine birdies and did not drop a shot in the lowest round in the tournament's seven-year history to lead over American Sam Stevens and Dane Thorbjorn Olesen. As Australia's challenge failed to materialise, the Canadian tied the TPC Twin Cities course record set by Paul Goydos at the 2017 3M Championship on the PGA Tour Champions. Chris Gotterup, who finished third at last week's British Open and won the Scottish Open two weeks ago, is three shots back along with Chad Ramey and Matti Schmid. Zac Blair, Chris Kirk, Jake Knapp and Brendan Valdes are another shot back, with Rickie Fowler and Emiliano Grillo among those at six under and four strokes off the pace. An eagle at the last to break the course record‼️Adam Svensson shoots 60 to take the clubhouse lead @3MOpen.📺 @PGATOURLIVE on ESPN+ — PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) July 24, 2025 Svensson's lone tour win is the 2022 RSM Classic. The 31-year-old has one top-25 finish in 21 starts this season and has missed 11 cuts. "I had a great range session today. Just really putted amazing, I made a bunch of breakers. It was probably my best putting round I ever had," he said after needing just 25 putts, including a nearly 40-foot birdie on the 11th hole and a 34-footer on the fourth. His career-best 60 is the second-lowest score on the PGA Tour this season. Jake Knapp shot 59 at the Cognizant Classic in February. Stevens could have shot 59 with an eagle on the par-5 18th, but instead he put his second shot from 246 yards into the water in front of the green, leading to his lone bogey and a 62 that was still his lowest round on tour. "I have a pretty big gap between my three iron and my three wood, and I hit a terrible shot," he said. "I thought if I hit a three wood, it was just going to fly to the back of the green, and I kind of had to hit a three iron perfect to even cover the water. But I figured that was my best chance to shoot 59, so I gave it a go." Fowler and Grillo are among a group of 18 players who rank between 60th and 80th in the FedEx Cup standings, needing a strong performance to help secure spots in the 70-man field for the first playoff event in two weeks. Fowler entered the week at No. 63 and Grillo is No. 71. "At the end of the day, good golf solves a lot of things," Fowler said. Adam Scott, once again, is the leading Australian, some nine shots off the pace in a tie for 77th after opening with a two-under 69. Karl Vilips (70), Cam Davis (71), Aaron Baddeley (73) and Harrison Endycott (73) all need strong second rounds to make the halfway cut. With AAP
