Shah releases book on Emergency on Samvidhan Hatya Diwas
In his address, Shah said this book mentions Narendra Modi's work as a young Sangh Pracharak during the Emergency, how he fought by remaining underground during the 19-month-long movement led by Jayaprakash Narayan and Nanaji Deshmukh, a Home Ministry statement said.
The book details how he went to the homes of people jailed under the MISA Act and talked to their families and arranged for their treatment. The book describes Modi distributed many newspapers published secretly in markets, squares, among students and women, and that he led the struggle as a 25-year-old youth of Gujarat, Shah said.
He said that Modi used to work underground at that time, sometimes as a saint, sometimes as a Sardarji, sometimes as a hippie, sometimes as an incense stick seller or sometimes as a newspaper seller.
"The Emergency was imposed to re-instate dynastic politics, but Modi went door-to-door, village-to-village and city-to-city to protest against it, and finally he uprooted the dynastic politics from the entire country in 2014," the Home Minister said.
He said that there are five chapters in this book on media censorship, government repression, the struggle of the Sangh and Jansangh, description of the victims of the Emergency and from dictatorship to public participation.
Shah appealed to the youth of the country to read this book so that they can know that the youth who fought against the dictatorship in his early days is the same youth who is strengthening the roots of democracy in this country, and he is Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Present on the occasion were Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Vinai Kumar Saxena, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta among others.

Dalai Lama affirms the institution of Dalai Lama will continue
Dharamshala , July 2 (UNI ) Tibetan spiritual head the Dalai Lama today affirmed that the institution of Dalai Lama will continue and reiterated that the Gaden Phodrang Trust has the sole authority to recognize the future reincarnation; no one else has any such authority to interfere in the matter. The Dalai Lama in a statement made here today said, "On 24 September 2011, at a meeting of the heads of Tibetan spiritual traditions, I made a statement to fellow Tibetans in and outside Tibet, followers of Tibetan Buddhism, and those who have a connection with Tibet and Tibetans, regarding whether the institution of the Dalai Lama should continue. I stated, 'As far back as 1969, I made clear that concerned people should decide whether the Dalai Lama's reincarnations should continue in the future.' In his statement, he further said, " I also said, 'When I am about ninety I will consult the high Lamas of the Tibetan Buddhist traditions, the Tibetan public, and other concerned people who follow Tibetan Buddhism, to re-evaluate whether or not the institution of the Dalai Lama should continue'.' He said, "Although I have had no public discussions on this issue, over the last 14 years leaders of Tibet's spiritual traditions, members of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile, participants in a Special General Body Meeting, members of the Central Tibetan Administration, NGOs, Buddhists from the Himalayan region, Mongolia, Buddhist republics of the Russian Federation and Buddhists in Asia including mainland China, have written to me with reasons, earnestly requesting that the institution of the Dalai Lama continue. "In particular, I have received messages through various channels from Tibetans in Tibet making the same appeal. In accordance with all these requests, I am affirming that the institution of the Dalai Lama will continue". He said, " The process by which a future Dalai Lama is to be recognized has been clearly established in the 24 September 2011 statement which states that responsibility for doing so will rest exclusively with members of the Gaden Phodrang Trust, the Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. They should consult the various heads of the Tibetan Buddhist traditions and the reliable oath-bound Dharma protectors who are linked inseparably to the lineage of the Dalai Lamas. They should accordingly carry out the procedures of search and recognition in accordance with past tradition. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and discussed the status of progress of key infrastructure projects in the State. During the course of the meeting that took place at Union Minister's official residence, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma sought the support and cooperation from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) for ensuring timely completion of the ongoing infrastructure projects. The Union Minister assured the Chief Minister of MoRTH's support for time-bound implementation of the ongoing flagship NH projects in Assam as 'these projects will significantly boost regional connectivity, enhance trade routes, and accelerate the pace of economic growth in the Northeast part of the country.'
