A weekly 'porn night' helps keep my relationship alive

Metro18-07-2025
'Let's try taxi porn,' said my boyfriend, Alex, as he peered over my shoulder at the laptop.
We were naked in bed together with the lights dimmed and we should have been halfway through having sex by now.
There was just one issue: We couldn't settle on what to watch.
I had spent nearly 10 minutes frantically clicking on different types of porn, trying to find something suitable – but nothing seemed to fit.
Exasperated at the lack of good options, we decided to go rogue and chose a category at random – which is what brought us to taxis.
And although that particular genre of adult entertainment didn't do anything for us, we wanted to stick to our new tradition of couples porn night.
This ritual all started following a row.
About two months prior, my boyfriend and I had a sit-down chat about some of the niggling issues in our relationship.
This time, I felt that our sex life had fallen into a routine. It wasn't bad by any means, but it had become a bit predictable, so I was keen to shake things up a little.

And thus, our weekly 'porn night' was born.
The premise was simple: Every week, we'd choose a day where we watched a filthy film together.
It felt naughty and new, and it didn't really matter if we had sex or not as a result.
The only issue was, we hadn't really organised anything beyond the time and place – and during that first run, we quickly realised that ill-planned logistics can ruin the mood pretty quickly.
Now, I am not here to judge anyone's sexual preferences but taxi porn wouldn't be in my personal top 10 list.
Spoiler alert: They shag in the back of the cab – surprise, surprise.
But Alex and I were on a mission and we couldn't find anything better, so we kept the film on in the background and turned our focus back to each other.
This probably won't surprise you but the sex wasn't our best.
There was a bright glare from the computer that bothered me, our movements were slightly off and the subpar porn just seemed to make it all feel a bit seedy.

About 15 minutes in, I called it quits and suggested we get some snacks and watch a movie – the non-adult kind – instead.
'That sounds great,' Alex replied with a relieved smile.
It wasn't the night we'd planned. Nevertheless, we are both stubborn people – so a few weeks later, we gave it another go.
This time, we came better prepared.
Earlier that day, we had randomly been talking about swinging – not for ourselves, a friend of ours had tried it – when Alex said he was intrigued by the idea of exploring this in porn.
As someone who has been to sex events and seen this lifestyle in action, I was eager to lead the way.
Porn night 2.0 was a smashing success, letting us live out a fantasy without ever wanting to do it for real.
I can't pinpoint exactly what changed, but I'd say it was the anticipation.
The first time, we had simply decided to watch porn to see what happened. Whereas during round two, talking about what we wanted to view beforehand made the moment sexier.
I was turned on because of Alex's curiosity and he in turn was intrigued by the newness.
I am very comfortable in my own skin and in my relationship, so trying something new with Alex is usually pretty easy.
It also wasn't entirely out of the blue for us.
Earlier this year, I asked Alex to choose porn for me to watch by myself during masturbation – with very surprising and fun results – but this more recent experiment was more about us bonding together over something new as a couple.
But if the idea of watching porn with your partner feels intimidating to you, I get it.
I've had experiences in the past that were so unsuccessful, I was put off watching adult content altogether for a few years.
But if you're both willing to keep an open mind, it can be great fun.
Be mindful that the majority of porn is still made for the male gaze – so avoid overly aggressive or less mainstream categories unless you are 100% sure that you will both enjoy it.
Women are more likely to stay quiet if they feel uncomfortable in a sexual situation, so check in with your partner and discuss boundaries. More Trending
How you set up porn night is entirely up to you – every night, every week, once a year – but don't feel bad if you end up rescheduling now and then. Life gets in the way, just as it did for me and Alex.
We cancelled porn night twice over a four-week period – once because I'd had some bad family news and wasn't horny, and once because he was tired from work and would rather eat takeaway and hang out.
But it might come back – and Alex recently suggested that we watch porn on the sofa and stream it on our flat screen.

I'd be game – but no taxi porn again. Ever.

'I'll die on that hill': WWE star reveals how she fought against bosses' plans

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video WWE superstar Chelsea Green has revealed how she stood her ground to make sure her biggest night ended the right way. The 34-year-old wrestler is one of the big names showcased in Netflix's new WWE Unreal docu-series, and in one episode viewers will see the debate surrounding the crowing of the first ever Women's United States Champion at Saturday Night's Main Event. Chelsea was set to win the historic match in December 2024, but the documentary shows how producers – who help wrestlers plan their matches – wanted her to win with a top rope leg drop. However, she star pushed back, insisting she should get her big moment by using her signature Unprettier move. She exclusively told Metro: 'I literally did a leg drop and peed my pants while we were rehearsing it. But that – I'm not doing that in front of my friends, my family, my fans, everyone watching, you know? Wake up to find news on your TV shows in your inbox every morning with Metro's TV Newsletter. Speaking up like that is out of character for Chelsea, as normally she's happy to 'run the play' and do whatever she's told. 'Honestly, no, I don't speak up that often. I usually just like to run the play. Whatever they want to do,' she admitted. 'However, there are certain moments in my career where I am willing to die on that hill, and that was one of them. 'This could quite possibly be the tippy top of my career, and I'm not going out doing someone else's finisher or doing a move I don't feel comfortable with!' It meant a lot to Chelsea, but the consummate professional insisted she would 'never' have gone off script if her bosses had decided otherwise. 'I've never been one of those people to call an audible because unless something goes wrong in the ring, I feel like it's taking advantage,' she explained. 'I never want to take advantage of my coworkers. I never want to take advantage of my producers. They trust me.' As Unreal shows, there are a lot of moving parts to WWE, and anything can go wrong. Recently, Chelsea was accidentally counted out during a match on SmackDown, and she's admitted it was her fault. 'If I do something wrong, I come back and I immediately put my hands up, 'I messed up', and that's what I did in that moment,' she recalled. 'I stayed in character, and the minute I got to [Gorilla Position, backstage], it's like, 'I am so sorry I messed up. That was on me. I was out there not paying attention.' The referee was doing his job. I cannot fault anyone for that!' Mistakes like that are part of wrestling, and it didn't hurt Chelsea's standing as weeks later she found herself facing Hall of Famer Nikki Bella in her first match since 2018. 'It's nerve wracking because we've been waiting for this for years,' she said. 'We have been dying to see Nikki Bella make this beautiful comeback after a neck surgery, and after being the longest reigning Divas Champion. There was just so much riding on it.' It was a lot for Chelsea too, who had been pitching to face Nikki at WrestleMania earlier this year, but ended up missing out on the show altogether. 'Maybe this is big headed of me to say, but I think most of us wanted to see the [Women's] US title at WrestleMania in a match,' she shrugged. 'I pushed a lot for that title to be on WrestleMania. But unfortunately, we have so much talent, we have so many titles, we only have a certain amount of hours [the roster] can wrestle.' Her moment with Nikki came after Liv Morgan's unfortunate injury forced WWE into a scramble for creative changes, the likes of which are seen playing out in WWE Unreal. 'I never wanted to see Liv go down the way she did, but when that happened, that did allow me to step in and fill that place,' she pointed out. 'I can hang with the best of them, and Nikki Bella is the best of them.' Chelsea feels like she's being listened to backstage, after years of 'constantly pitching absolutely ridiculous ideas'. 'They really have taken a lot of my suggestions to heart. And it may not go to TV exactly how I pitched it,' she admitted. 'But it goes to TV in one way or another.' More Trending Now, she's excited for WWE Unreal to show everyone the truth about her position in the company. 'I don't hold back. I've always been very upfront and honest with my life, with my marriage, with building my home, being released, coming back,' she said. 'For me, pulling the curtain back on who I truly am and how I work at WWE didn't feel all that crazy.' View More » All five episodes of WWE Unreal are coming to Netflix on July 29. Strictly Come Dancing confirms two new professionals after show scandals

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Strictly Come Dancing has announced that two new professionals have joined the BBC show following Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima's exits. Alexis Warr and Julian Caillon will waltz onto the Strictly dancefloor when the show returns this autumn. Warr is best known for winning the US dance series So You Think You Can Dance in 2022 and became the first female ballroom and Latin dancer to be crowned America's Favourite Dancer. It isn't her first shimmy with Strictly as the dancer appeared on the US version of the show as a guest professional dancer, and has also appeared on Dancing With The Stars, America's Got Talent, and World of Dance. Caillon appeared on three seasons of Australia's Dancing With The Stars and also starred in So You Think You Can Dance Australia. Alongside his dance career, he has also worked as a personal trainer and exercise physiologist. Caillon and Warr have both previously danced at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom, where Strictly will return later this season for its much-anticipated Blackpool Special. Speaking about joining the show, Warr said she has 'admired Strictly for years.' 'Joining this incredible family is such an honour,' she continued. 'I can't wait to step into the ballroom, pour my heart into every moment, and share my love of dance with the UK.' Caillon added that joining the case was 'a dream come true.' 'I've watched it for years, especially cheering on all the amazing dancers I know and work with who've been part of it,' he said in a statement. 'I can't wait to get stuck in, have some fun, and be part of something special!' Professionals confirmed to be returning to the BBC show in the upcoming season include: Dianne Buswell Nadiya Bychkova Amy Dowden Karen Hauer Katya Jones Neil Jones Nikita Kuzmin Gorka Marquez Luba Mushtuk Jowita Przystal Johannes Radebe Aljaž Škorjanec Kai Widdrington Nancy Xu Carlos Gu Lauren Oakley Michelle Tsiakkas Vito Coppola Sarah James, executive producer at BBC Studios, says: 'We've been big fans of Alexis and Julian for some time so it's with great excitement that we now welcome them both to the Strictly family. 'They're two incredible dancers with bright futures ahead of them, and we know viewers are going to love getting to know them both.' Additionally, Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment, said the duo were 'perfect additions' to the cast. 'Alexis and Julian are the perfect additions to Strictly, and we can't wait for you to see them light up the ballroom this autumn,' she said. 'With our fantastic professional dancers plus everything else we love about Strictly, the new series promises to be bigger, better and even more glitter-packed than ever before.' The news comes after the popular BBC reality show was hit with scandal last year, with two professional dancers leaving its ranks. Pernice, 34, found himself at the heart of a bullying scandal last year following a series of allegations made by former dance partner Amanda Abbington. After a probe into the allegations, the BBC issued an apology to the Sherlock star – upholding a number of points, but clearing Pernice of the most serious claims. More Trending There were no findings relating to physical aggression, but complaints of verbal bullying and harassment were upheld, reported the PA news agency last year. Di Prima, 30, also left Strictly after allegations of 'physical incidents' during his training with Zara McDermott, 28. His rep later admitted Di Prima had kicked former Love Island star McDermott and said in a statement that he 'apologised at the time' and knew he had 'made a mistake'. View More » However, Di Prima later claimed his foot 'brushed' McDermott after he 'kicked the floor in frustration' due to the 'pressure of the show.' Got a story?
