NEW plans for the world's tallest cruise ship have been released - and it looks like something from the future.
Norwegian boat builders Hurtigruten say the vessel, complete with electrical sails and a mega battery, should hit the seas by the end of the decade.

Hurtigruten set out to make travel more sustainable - and hopes that this huge boat can tour the seas producing net-zero emissions.
The ultimate goal is for the boat to be powered solely by battery.
Trond Johnsen, the project manager, said: "With the reduction in energy use we're aiming for, it's realistic to fit a battery system with enough energy to allow the ship to sail between charging ports under normal weather conditions."
Four battery-hybrid ships built by Hurtigruten's already sail the seas, but they all need supplementing with fuel.
The new project, dubbed Sea Zero, kicked off in October 2022, and the first set of plans were seen in summer 2023.
One of the coolest features is the boat's sails, which can be raised and lowered as required, and will be covered in solar panels.
The kind being developed are called OceanWings - already in use on the cargo ship called Canopée.
The Chief Operating Officer Gerry Larsson-Fedde said: "We have also changed the sail type to a more mature design already in use on cargo ships.
"As with all development projects, there will be adjustments to both the design and specifications along the way."#
The most recent plans extend the length of the ship by eight metres, to a total 143.5m.

Another very intriguing feature is the "lubricated" hull.
Air bubbles will be pumped beneath the bottom of the boat to make it glide through the water more easily and reduce drag.
This means less fuel will be require to propel the ship along.
The hull will also be cleaned regularly and fitted with "advanced anti-fouling coatings" to make it slip through the waves even more smoothly.

Guests onboard will have a highly customisable experience.
Living in 'smart cabins', passengers will be able to control their own heating and ventilation through an app and a screen in the cabin.
Larsson-Fedde said: 'We are already testing advanced sensors in these cabins, and in the near future, we will conduct full-scale tests with guests onboard."
Another ocean whopper has already been launched by China - which revealed its new monster-sized cargo ship.
The 1,310-ft-long vessel is said to be capable of holding a whopping 220,000 tonnes of goods and stacking 24,000 containers.
Footage shows the monstrous vessel - built in just 17 months - ripping through the ocean.
And another cruise option will soon hit the market, but designed specifically for OAPs.
Shipbuilder Meyer Werft has spotted a huge gap in the cruise market and filled it with 'Serenity' - a vessel made exclusively for the elderly, with assisted living suites.

The German star has Newcastle United and RB Leipzig keen on a deal this summer after a campaign that returned an impressive 21 goals and 15 assists - with the 25-year-old turning in notable performances in the Champions League as the Hoops claimed a domestic double. Herba Guirassy ‌ Celtic have also been credited with an interest in Nantes winger Herba Guirassy - but the French side are set to demand big money for the wonderkid. Despite being just 18, the Angers-born player was a regular in Ligue 1 last season. And the Hoops may have to be quick to get a deal over the line - with L'Equipe report that Club Brugge are "considering" an approach. ‌ Greg Taylor has yet to decide his future with his Celtic contract rapidly approaching an end. The Celtic left-back is weighing up his options ahead of his current Parkhead deal expiring this month - with Rodgers previously stating he is keen to keep the Scotland cap and see him battle it out with Tierney. ‌ But both PAOK and FC Copenhagen are said to be chasing a deal for the soon-to-be free agent. However, amid the waiting game the Greek side are "reconsidering" their interest in the 27-year-old, according to Sportal. Veljko Milosavljevic Red Star Belgrade defender Veljko Milosavljevic is also said to be on the agenda - with Mozzart Sport reporting that the Hoops have followed up on interest earlier this summer. The Serbian side are reportedly holding out for a £9million fee - but Celtic representatives have "offered" £5.1million for the 17-year-old, which has been rejected.

Tech giant plots £16bn London listing in boost for struggling City

A £16bn Norwegian technology giant has announced plans to list its shares on the London Stock Exchange in a rare boost for the struggling market. Private equity-backed Visma, which is headquartered in Oslo and provides accounting and payroll software to small businesses, is understood to be considering a UK public offering early next year. According to the Financial Times, Visma has provisionally picked London for a float early next year, after previously considering Amsterdam and Oslo, and is planning to sound out bankers. A deal is dependent on potential reforms to the London Stock Exchange and listing rules. If confirmed, the listing would be welcomed by bankers, stock exchange executives and politicians, all of whom have been struggling to reverse a long-term decline in London's public markets. The City has faced an exodus of public companies as the likes of Paddy Power owner Flutter and drugs giant Indivior have shifted their listings to New York. Earlier this month, Wise, the overseas payments business, said it would move its primary listing to the US. Investors at construction giant Ashtead approved plans to swap to the New York listing earlier this month. Others have gone private through takeovers, with high-tech device maker Spectris in talks to quit the market. Last year, 88 companies abandoned main market listings in London. Meanwhile, there were just 18 floats on the London Stock Exchange or the junior Aim market last year. The Telegraph reported last week that Waves, a £300m Israeli tech business, had delayed plans to list in London amid geopolitical uncertainty in the Middle East. Chinese fast-fashion retailer Shein is said to have switched a planned float from London to Hong Kong. London buyout firm Hg Capital has owned Visma since 2006, when it bought the Norwegian company for just £380m. It now employs more than 16,000 people and has annual revenues of €2.8bn (£2.4bn) and adjusted earnings of €893m (£761m). Hg has owned Visma for far longer than is typical for a private equity fund, reinvesting in the business several times and bringing on new shareholders. After previously exploring a float two years ago, Visma instead took on new shareholders and secured €3bn (£2.5bn) of investment in a private share sale, valuing the business at €19bn (£16.2bn). Hg still owns the majority of the businesses, with other shareholders including US private equity firm Texas Pacific Group (TPG) and trading firm Jane Street.
