Liam Payne's Friend Roger Nores Withdraws Defamation Lawsuit Against Singer's Dad
In his original filing, Nores had alleged that Geoff made false and defamatory statements about him in sworn declarations to an Argentine prosecutor investigating Liam's death, causing him damages of over $10 million.

Speaking to Rolling Stone at the time, Nores said Geoff 'need[ed] to backtrack on his statements,' which led to his original charge. Now, in an email sent to Richard Bray, Liam's estate attorney, Nores writes that Geoff 'doesn't need to apologize.'
'I'll always remember when [Geoff] came to me the first night at the ranch after I had picked them up at the airport, how he asked me to promise I would never give up on Liam, no matter what,' Nores wrote in the email, obtained by Rolling Stone. 'I kept that promise right until the end, and it was pretty hard.'
'In spite of how everything turned out and Geoff saying in his statement to the police [that] 'this is all Roger's responsibility,'' he added, 'I would have done this 100 times over because I loved Liam with all my heart and I miss him everyday.'
A lawyer representing Geoff in the Florida case and attorneys representing Liam's estate did not immediately respond to Rolling Stone's request for comment.
In his original lawsuit, Nores claimed that the father of the One Direction star made 'false' and 'misleading' statements and omitted information in his 'sworn declarations' to Argentine officials while characterizing Nores' involvement in Liam's life. Although the statements made by Geoff were given in another country, the lawsuit claimed that they were 'accessed by persons in the Palm Beach County/Florida' area and caused injury in said places.
Nores had claimed that Geoff's statements impacted him and his reputation in 'mega proportions with extensive damages.'
In a response to the lawsuit dated Jan. 10, Liam's estate declined to retract the declarations and accused Nores of 'seeking to interfere with a police investigation by pressuring [Geoff] to change his evidence,' adding that they would 'bring his actions to the attention of the Argentinian authorities.'
Liam's estate had also slammed the lawsuit's intent of donating proceeds of the lawsuit damages to Liam's son as 'pointless,' adding that the lawsuit causes Liam's child with Cheryl Cole more 'irreparable damage.'
Nores was acquitted of an involuntary manslaughter charge last month, despite a denied appeal from the prosecutor overseeing the case. The new update comes several months after Rolling Stone published an investigation into the tragedy of Liam, including a statement from his ex-fiancée, Maya Henry, breaking her silence on his death. Liam died in mid-October after falling from the third-floor balcony of the CasaSur Palermo hotel in Argentina.

Liam Neeson And Pamela Anderson Dating Rumors Explained
If your social media timeline is anything like mine, you've probably seen tons of footage of Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson having a good time together while promoting their raunchy new comedy, The Naked Gun. In case you hadn't guessed, the new movie is a reboot-sequel to the beloved 1980s and 1990s crime comedies starring Leslie Nielsen. Most recently, the co-stars cozied up on the red carpet for the movie's premiere in London, sharing a kiss as they posed together for photos. So... Pamela, 58, and Liam, 73, are both iconic, brilliant actors. And they're also both single, which means only one thing: fans are wondering if they might be Hollywood's next cute couple. Pamela and Liam also both have grown-up sons. Liam — whose wife, Natasha Richardson, tragically died in 2009 — is father to 30-year-old Micheál and 28-year-old Daniel. Meanwhile, Pamela shares 29-year-old Brandon and 27-year-old Dylan with her ex-husband, Tommy Lee. For some context, Liam said in October last year that he fell 'madly in love' with Pamela while they were shooting The Naked Gun together. 'She's just terrific to work with,' he told People. 'I can't compliment her enough, I'll be honest with you. No huge ego. She just comes in to do the work. She's funny and so easy to work with. She's going to be terrific in the film.' At the time, fans thought this was amazing and that they'd make a sweet couple. And so, with their recent red carpet outing, there's plenty of renewed speculation about the pairing, and whether they might be the 'new late-life love story.' However — and I hate to be the bearer of bad news — it sounds like Liam and Pam are strictly platonic. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly in May, Pamela said that she and Liam kept their relationship 'professionally romantic,' although that didn't mean they didn't have a lot of fun. 'Our chemistry was clear from the start,' she said, revealing that they bonded over their shared 'love of literature and a good laugh.' 'I am in awe of him, his experience, and work ethic. I soaked him in like a sponge.' More recently, the pair did a joint cover interview for EW, in which Pamela said that she has found 'a friend forever in Liam,' adding that they have a connection that is 'very sincere' and 'very loving.' 'He's a good guy,' she told the outlet. 'He's a true artist. He comes from theater and Schindler's List and has done over a hundred films. And I did things inside out and backwards, came from television, and then my personal life kind of overshadowed my professional life. It is funny: We all come to this place in different ways, but to be able to share this experience with him is very meaningful and such an honor.' And, for what it's worth, Liam has previously said he's done with dating in his 70s, telling People: 'No... I'm past all that.' So, it sounds like romance isn't on the cards between these two, but can you blame Liam for being a little Taken by Pamela? Get it?

MLS Brings Lionel Messi Cam Back to TikTok
Lionel Messi will star in an exclusive TikTok livestream during Inter Miami's Aug. 2 Leagues Cup matchup with Necaxa as part of Major League Soccer's continued audience expansion efforts, MLS announced Thursday. A Messi-focused camera will track the 38-year-old Argentine superstar throughout the game, in a mobile-friendly vertical format with custom graphics. MLS rolled out a similar offering in October 2024 and drew 6.4 million viewers across the league and team's TikTok pages. That game, Messi's playoff debut, became the most widely viewed sporting event in Apple history, the company said later. A total of four Messi cam streams, dubbed 'Player Spotlight: Messi' are planned this year. 'We're a league that is going to put the content where the people are. … Everything is on Apple, but we're also going to find you in other ways, so that you can see it, experience it, and then you know that it's on Apple.' In the third season of MLS' $2.5 billion Apple tie-up, the league has launched a new Sunday Night Soccer tentpole, increased MLS Season Pass access on Android devices and introduced various distribution agreements with Comcast, DirecTV and T-Mobile. Select games also air on Fox networks and, after the fact, on regional sports networks. Certain matches stream within EA Sports FC's mobile app. Sunday Night Soccer airs on linear networks internationally with a reach of 260 million households. MLS commissioner Don Garber said Wednesday that the league is averaging 120,000 unique viewers per Season Pass stream in 2025, an 'almost 50%' increase over last year, in large part due to the increased distribution partnerships. Meanwhile, MLS and TikTok announced a multiyear partnership in April that brings live match highlights and fan reactions to the platform. MLS held its All-Star Game, a battle with Liga MX's All-Stars, on Wednesday night in Austin. The event was streamed on Amazon Prime Video. Messi and his Inter Miami teammate Jordi Alba sat out despite the league believing they might participate as recently as this week. There is no indication, however, that Messi's status is in jeopardy for Inter Miami's upcoming Leagues Cup match in which his every move will be streamed on TikTok. The Leagues Cup has a new format this year, with 18 teams each from Liga MX and MLS competing and a bracket system that will lead to four quarterfinal affairs pitting Mexican squads against northern neighbors. Messi made his MLS debut in the Leagues Cup in 2023. Two years into Messi's time with MLS, Bacon said Inter Miami in particular has seen an uptick in interest from new fans. On TikTok, the club has 12.1 million followers, about six times as many as the Florida Panthers, Miami Heat and Miami Marlins combined. MLS has worked with the club to turn those fans into MLS game viewers who come to learn more about the rest of the league as well. MLS is also focused on content recommendation and personalized marketing initiatives to tailor the offering for newcomers, with an eye both towards Messi's remaining time in the league as well as opportunities around next year's World Cup, hosted in North America. 'We have the ability to say, 'Hey, come this way, or come this way or come this way,' Bacon said. 'We've got ways to entertain and engage people, no matter what level of interest they have.' James Gunn Reveals The 1 Superman Scene He Nearly Cut After Audience Feedback
Never mind the casting of a brand new Superman, the decision to put him back in pants or tiresome complaints of the movie being 'woke', it's a scene within the film itself that appears to have sparked the most contention since its release. The new superhero blockbuster starring David Corenswet arrived earlier this month and marks the launch of a brand new era in the DC cinematic universe (DCU) from former Marvel director James Gunn. After a strong opening weekend (though some less favourable critics' reviews), the hype for the fresh instalment in the iconic superhero franchise is still going strong. But there was one important moment in the film that nearly didn't make the final cut, despite pretty much everyone's insistence that it should go. Speaking in a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the Guardians Of The Galaxy director revealed that the scene in which the Man Of Steel pauses to save a squirrel from a destructive monster proved to be one of the most divisive details in the whole movie. 'It was probably the second- or third-most hotly debated moment in the movie,' he explained, adding that they received strong test audience feedback from viewers who 'did not like the squirrel'. 'They're like, 'Why the fuck is he saving a squirrel? Why is he taking time out, saving a squirrel?' There was a cut where I cut it out and I'm like, 'I really miss the squirrel. He's gotta save the squirrel',' he added. The director added that there were some 'geographical' problems regarding where Superman ended up if he didn't fly over the squirrel. 'So I put the squirrel back in despite the protestations of some of my people on my crew,' he added. Of course, it's not just a silly throwaway moment – it shows Superman's empathy and kindness to another living creature. In a separate interview with The New York Times, James explained how he believed the debate came down to 'do you like squirrels or not?'. Meanwhile, another key detail caused huge debate even earlier in the filming process, as the filmmaker agonised over whether to have Superman in his iconic red pants again. According to an interview with Gizmodo last year, the Slither director said he 'screened tested with trunks and no trunks', before they ultimately decided on bringing Superman back to his retro look.
