PMRDA to work as single-point coordinator for citizens' complaints in Hinjewadi IT Park area

1 2 Pune: Divisional commissioner Chandrakant Pulkundwar has asked PMRDA to act as the single-point coordinator for citizens to raise infrastructure-related concerns around the Hinjewadi IT Park area. The development took place during a review meeting held on Thursday to assess ongoing works in the zone. The decision comes in response to repeated complaints from IT professionals and residents, who said they were often unsure which govt body to approach due to overlapping jurisdictions of multiple agencies in Hinjewadi. You Can Also Check: Pune AQI | Weather in Pune | Bank Holidays in Pune | Public Holidays in Pune So, it was decided that Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) would facilitate coordination among all departments concerned, ensuring that citizens no longer have to run from one office to another to identify the responsible authority for specific works in their area. Pavanjit Mane from the Forum for IT Employees (FITE), who was present at the meeting, welcomed the move. He said, "Until now, there was no centralised platform for IT employees to raise concerns due to the involvement of multiple agencies. With this change, we can now approach a single authority, which can then coordinate internally to get things done." Sachin Londhe from the Wakad Pimpri Chinchwad Residents Development and Welfare Association, who initiated the 'UNCLOG Hinjewadi' online petition, said, "We now expect PMRDA to take serious note of citizens' concerns, which it has missed in the past." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like They Are Unstoppable: The Most Beautiful and Talented Female Athletes Undo Londhe, who also attended the meeting, pointed out that although some decisions are finally being implemented, the area has faced years of neglect. "Authorities should consider taking disciplinary action against officers who failed to act in time, leading to the current situation," he said. Dnyanendra Hulsure, president of the Hinjewadi Employees and Residents Trust (HEART), supported the appointment of PMRDA as the nodal body. "It makes sense to assign this role to an agency already working in the region, as they are more familiar with on-ground realities. Bringing in someone new would delay action due to a lack of context," he said. IT professionals, however, remain cautious. While they acknowledged that officials are starting to act, they stressed that little has changed on the ground. "Traffic congestion remains a daily struggle. Years of negligence by previous officials created a huge backlog. It will take time to bring some visible change on the ground," an IT employee told TOI.

"Karnataka Wins..." DK Shivakumar's Jibe After Ajit Pawar's Hinjewadi Lament

New Delhi: The competition to host Information and Technology (IT) and software companies - which provide tax revenue for a state's coffers, jobs for its population, and a badge of honour for the ruling party - may have kickstarted a political row between the Karnataka and Maharashtra administrations. Last week Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, the state's Finance and Planning Minister, caused a flutter by lamenting the exodus of IT companies from Pune's Hinjewadi. "We are finished..." he said, momentarily unaware he was being filmed, and criticised civic officials for failing to address problems like flooded roads, constraints on supply of electricity, lack of public infrastructure, and traffic jams and poorly maintained roads. "We are ruined... the entire IT park of Hinjewadi is moving out. It is going out of my Pune (the district assigned to his care) and out of Maharashtra... to Bengaluru and Hyderabad..." "Don't you care at all?" Mr Pawar raged, "Why do I have to come here for inspections at 6 in the morning? I don't understand. There's no alternative but to take strict action." It is only after that Mr Pawar asks the media to switch off their cameras. An irate Deputy Chief Minister - already under fire for his handling of the Manikrao Kokate incident, i.e., a party colleague caught playing rummy on his phone during the Assembly - orders officials to "immediately resolve" problems like garbage piling up and encroachment. Mr Pawar's lament (and mention of Bengaluru, seen as India's 'Silicon Valley') was picked up by his Karnataka countepart, DK Shivakumar, who said, "Business isn't shifting to Karnataka - it's choosing us. Consciously. Confidently... Hinjewadi still struggles, Karnataka builds..." "We're not just India's Silicon Valley in name - we deliver. From Electronic City to Tier 2 innovation hubs, Karnataka offers what others can't: Pro-business policies Plug-and-play infra Zero harassment, single-window clearances An ecosystem built on innovation." Business isn't shifting to Karnataka - it's choosing us. Consciously. Confidently. We're not just India's Silicon Valley in name - we deliver. From Electronic City to Tier 2 innovation hubs, Karnataka offers what others can't: ✅ Pro-business policies ✅ Plug-and-play infra ✅… — DK Shivakumar (@DKShivakumar) July 31, 2025 "Under Congress leadership, we've laid out a red carpet, not red tape. We're not just hosting companies... we're co-creating futures. If Ajit Pawar ji is upset, time to think why..." "Karnataka wins on merit. The rest must catch up," Mr Shivakumar said on X. Hinjewadi is home to the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park, which is spread over 2,800 acres and was built by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation at a reported cost of Rs 155 crore. Over 800 IT and software companies, including Infosys, Accenture, Cisco, and Cognizant, have their offices in Hinjewadi, which also houses a significant number of private residences.

Pune metropolitan region development authority (PMRDA) clears four town planning schemes with govt nod; push for ring road, urban development

PUNE: The state government has given final approval to four Town Planning (TP) Schemes proposed by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), paving the way for accelerated infrastructure development in several rapidly urbanizing villages, senior officials from PMRDA told TOI on Thursday. The decision is expected to give momentum to planned growth in the PMRDA region, particularly with the development of a 6.8-km stretch of the proposed ring road, added officials.. The approved TP schemes include two for Wadachiwadi and one each for Autade-Handewadi and Holkarwadi. The fourth approved scheme falls within the Pune Municipal Corporation limits, covering the Fursungi area. In addition to the approved schemes, the authority has also issued a public notice for 15 newly proposed TP schemes aimed at acquiring a 65-meter-wide curving road area under the PMRDA jurisdiction.
