Warisan not joining any coalition

Kota Kinabalu: Parti Warisan said the people should not be swayed by political rumours and distractions ahead of the 17th State election. Its Sec-Gen Datuk Loretto Padua Jr said recent rumours claiming that Warisan is joining Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) are aimed at distracting voters from core issues such as the rising cost of living, persistent water and electricity problems, job opportunities and Sabah's control over its own resources. He said the party remains committed to contesting the election independently, using its own logo, and has no plans to join any political coalition. 'Warisan is focused on preparing for the coming State election. We are not aligning with GRS or making deals behind closed doors. These are lies being spread deliberately on social media to confuse and mislead the public,' he said, in a statement. He stressed that Warisan's only alliance is with the people and the party would not take part in 'ongoing political games.' 'Our fight is for the rights and future of Sabahans. This election is about choosing leaders who truly care about Sabah, not those who play political games,' he said.
Advertisement According to him, Warisan has consistently remained as the sole opposition party in Sabah. And coalition is not the solution because the way forward is a firm, people-based movement that puts Sabah first. 'We will continue working with Sabahans and not political elites,' he said. He also voiced disappointment that the Head of State (TYT) institution has been dragged into the political rumours. 'The TYT is above politics and must be respected. Incumbents to continue representing GRS in state polls: Joachim

TELUPID: Any incumbent of a State Legislative Assembly seat previously won will continue to represent GRS in the upcoming 17th State Election, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam. He said GRS remains a stabilising force in Sabah as it is a coalition of eight local parties committed to the state's development. Joachim, who is also acting Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) president, said this political stability has driven economic growth since GRS came to power. He made these remarks while officiating the Telupid PBS annual general meeting at Kampung Telupid Community Hall. He urged PBS members here to rally behind division chief and Telupid assemblyman Datuk Jonnybone Kurum to ensure the seat remains with GRS. Describing Jonnybone as a vocal and committed representative, he said his efforts in the assembly have consistently focused on the well-being of Telupid residents. Umno open to post-election cooperation in Sabah: Zahid

Speaking here on Sunday, he said post-state election collaboration among parties was possible, emphasising that political alliances are not permanent and should serve public interest. He made the remarks while officiating the 22nd Libaran Umno Division delegates meeting, where several national and Sabah Umno leaders were also present. Ahmad Zahid urged all parties to prioritise resolving pressing issues faced by the people, particularly the longstanding electricity and clean water supply problems. He said any incoming government must focus on delivering quality public services as a core responsibility to the people.
