West Indies vs Australia, 2nd Test, Day 1: Live Score and Updates from Grenada

21:53 IST:Going into the second session, Australia would have their hopes tied down on Webster-Head to yet again rescue them from a tricky situation. On the other hand, WI pacers who have bowled with a lot of discipline in the first session will look to continue their good work. It will be interesting to see if the conditions do flatten out a bit in the next session. So do join us for the post-Lunch session at 4.43 PM GMT. 21:41 IST:After that Green and Head came together and batted with good intent, as they kept the scoreboard ticking and put on a 43-run stand. Green looked at his best in that session and was also lucky to survive when John Campbell dropped a sitter at short covers. However, he didn't capitalize on it as he perished four balls later right on the cue of Lunch. WI pacers, were on the money from ball one, as all the pacers, kept on beating the bat frequently. Alzarri Joseph started off poorly in his first over but was quick to get into the rhythm, as he picked up two wickets in his next two overs, which included the big wicket of Steven Smith. 21:52 IST:SESSION SUMMARY - 93 runs and 4 wickets in 23 overs! End of the 1st session on Day 1, and this Test has kicked off in an entertaining fashion, as though four wickets fell in the session, batters scored their runs at just over four runs an over. There was consistent help for the pacers throughout the session, and the WI pacers didn't disappoint as they were on the money with their lines and lengths. To start the session, Khawaja and Konstas scratched through the first 10 overs as they put on 47 for the first wicket. Particularly, Konstas demonstrated aggression right from the start. On the other hand, Khawaja looked tentative throughout his 29-ball stay at the crease as he eventually fell in the 11th over to an in-ducker from Alzarri, but not before completing 6000 Test runs. In the period from the 11th over to the 13th over, in total three wickets fell, as Konstas and Smith got out in consecutive overs after the fall of Khawaja. 21:36 IST:22.6: Jayden Seales to Cameron Green, OUT! Jayden Seales pitches it up and around off, Cameron Green reaches out to drive it away, but hits it from the toe-end of the bat. It will be Grenada's first, followed by the national anthem of Australia, and it will conclude with the Rally 'Round the West Indies. 19:31 IST:A proud moment for West Indies cricket as Kraigg Brathwaite will walk out for his 100th Test match, becoming only the 10th West Indian to reach this iconic milestone. A pillar at the top of the order, Brathwaite has been the face of resilience and grit in a challenging era for Caribbean cricket. From debuting as a teenager to leading the side with quiet determination, this landmark is a testament to his dedication, discipline, and unyielding love for the longest format. 19:30 IST:PITCH REPORT - Darren Ganga is pitchside. He starts by saying that there hasn't been any cricket at this venue for the last 12 months. He mentions that there's an even covering of grass on this wicket as compared to Barbados, where there was patchy grass, which led to uneven bounce. He mentions that the surface at the river end looks more even, but from the Darbeau end, it doesn't quite look even, which might present challenges to the batters. He mentions that there have been only 4 Tests played at this venue, and in those games, the 1st innings average score has been 278, whereas the 2nd innings score has been 80 runs more. He mentions that this pitch has traditionally offered something for the bowlers at the start. 19:24 IST:Roston Chase, the skipper of West Indies, says that he has never played here, but the pitch looks decent, and they are happy to bowl first. Adds that they played good cricket for at least two innings in the last game but then let themselves down by leaking a lot of runs, which they have to work on. Mentions that he is very happy and proud of his friend, Kraigg Brathwaite, for playing his 100th Test and praises his longevity for the national side. Informs that they have made one change as Anderson Phillip comes in for Jomel Warrican, as the data shows this is a more seamer-friendly wicket. 19:22 IST:Pat Cummins, the Australian Captain, says that he feels the wicket should play well for batting, but he isn't one hundred percent sure about it. He mentions that very rarely a team plays a Test where all the batters do well, and he was pleased with how the middle order performed in the last game. On the return of Steve Smith, he says it's a huge benefit, he has scored runs all over the world, and also adds that though he hasn't played here, his presence will be of big help for their batting line up. 19:36 IST:West Indies (Playing XI) - Kraigg Brathwaite, John Campbell, Keacy Carty, Brandon King, Shai Hope (WK), Roston Chase (C), Justin Greaves, Anderson Phillip (In place of Jomel Warrican), Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, Jayden Seales. 19:37 IST:Australia (Playing XI) - Usman Khawaja, Sam Konstas, Cameron Green, Steve Smith (In place of Josh Inglis), Travis Head, Beau Webster, Alex Carey (WK), Pat Cummins (C), Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood. 19:08 IST:TOSS - Australia have won the toss and elected to BAT first.

Diogo Jota dies at 28: Jurgen Klopp leads tributes after Liverpool player's death – ‘There must be a bigger purpose, but I can't see it'

The football world was left stunned on Thursday as Liverpool's Portuguese forward Diogo Jota and his brother died in a car crash in northwestern Spain early on Thursday. According to a Reuters report, authorities said their Lamborghini veered off the road and burst into flames, and evidence at the scene of the crash near the city of Zamora suggests Jota's car suffered a burst tyre while overtaking, Spanish police said in a statement. The crash occurred around 00:30 a.m. (2230 GMT). Jota, 28, had just married his partner of ten years in late June, with whom he had three children. 'My dream came true,' his wife Rute Cardoso wrote on Instagram of their wedding. Here are some tributes: Jurgen Klopp, former Liverpool manager (Instagram) This is a moment where I struggle! There must be a bigger purpose! But I can't see it! I'm heartbroken to hear about the passing of Diogo and his brother André. Diogo was not only a fantastic player, but also a great friend, a loving and caring husband and father! We will miss you so much! All my prayers, thoughts and power to Rute, the kids, the family, the friends and everyone who loved them! Rest in peace. Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal captain (Instagram) Doesn't make any sense. Just now we were together in the National Team, just now you were married. To your family, to your wife and children, I send my condolences and wish them all the strength in the world. I know you will always be with them. R.I.P. Diogo and Andre We will all miss you. Darwin Nunez, Liverpool striker (Instagram) There are no words of comfort for so much pain. I will always remember you with your smile, as a good companion on and off the field. I send all my strength to his family, from where he is I'm sure he will always be with you, especially his wife and three children. Jamie Carragher, former Liverpool defender (Sky Sports) 'I can only imagine how his team-mates feel at Liverpool and Portugal, they must be in a world of pain with his friends and family. It just shows us all how quickly life can change. What a summer he's had, and you get this devastating news that his family have had in the last few hours. You can't even comprehend it.' Stephen Warnock, former Liverpool defender (BBC Radio 5 Live) 'You saw the smile on his face when he played. He was always that bubbly character, but he was also a fiery person on the pitch. He had that lovely balance. He was always happy to give up his time, more than gracious when he spoke to people, very respectful but also a very charismatic character. I don't think you become a fans' favourite without being that type of person.' Portugal Prime Minister Luis Montenegro (AP) 'The news of the death of Diogo Jota, an athlete who greatly honoured Portugal's name, and his brother is unexpected and tragic. I extend my deepest condolences to their family. It is a sad day for football and for national and international sports.' Didier Drogba, former Chelsea striker (Instagram) Can't believe it!!!! What a player what a driving force he was!! All my love and affection to his family. Neco Williams, former Liverpool player (X) One of the really good people out there. Rest in peace Diogo and André Silva condolences to their families at this time. David de Gea, Spanish goalkeeper (X) Sometimes life is too cruel. Bruno Guimaraes, Newcastle player (X) Life is truly fleeting! Hard to believe news like this. I wish much strength to the family and friends. Rest in peace, Diogo and André. Mourning
