Arsenal get Rodrygo encouragement after Viktor Gyokeres transfer breakthrough
It was always going to be a busy summer transfer window for Arsenal. And after weeks of speculation over strikers, it seems as though things are finally starting to heat up.
Talks with Sporting Lisbon over a deal for Viktor Gyokeres appear to be advancing as the club close in on the quality No.9 Mikel Arteta craves. And with more deals in the pipeline, the Gunners are likely to have a few new faces in red and white when the new Premier League season kicks off next month.
Kepa Arrizabalaga is already through the door with Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard likely to follow.
But there is also the prospect of a deal for Eberechi Eze, while a left winger is also on the agenda with Rodrygo emerging as a top target.

Rodrygo encouragement
Rodrygo's limited involvement for Real Madrid in the Club World Cup has fuelled belief that Arsenal could land the Brazilian this summer in their search for an elite left-sided forward.
Rodrygo was a regular starter under Carlo Ancelotti before ending the season out of favour. And while noises from Spain have suggested the 24-year-old wants to stay and fight for his place at the Bernabeu, he was an unused substitute in Los Blancos' win over Juventus in the United States.
Mirror Football revealed last month that Arsenal are prepared to bide their time if they have a chance of landing Rodrygo. And as things stand, a move would seemingly not be beyond the realms of possibility.
Gyokeres breakthrough
Sky Sports are claiming that Arsenal and Sporting Lisbon are now in 'advanced talks' over a deal for Victor Gyokeres to swap the Portuguese Primeira Liga for the Premier League.
The report adds that Arsenal are 'moving away' from a deal for their alternative target, Benjamin Sesko.
Gyokeres has reportedly already agreed a five-year deal for Arsenal, who have been weighing up whether to move for the Swede or Sesko this summer.
Palace make Eze stand
Crystal Palace will not sell Eberechi Eze for less than the midfielder's £86million release clause, according to a new report from The Standard.
Arsenal are said to be pursuing Eze in addition to a deal for a quality striker and a new left-sided forward, though Eze can play on the left.
Eze's release clause dictates that the £68m needs to be paid in three instalments: one third up front, another third next summer with the final payment in 2027. But Arsenal would like to spread the cost of any deal over a longer period.

'Rarely been so angry': Bayern boss Kompany seethes over Musiala injury
ATLANTA, July 6 (Reuters) - Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany said he was furious after Jamal Musiala sustained a horrific injury during the first half of their Club World Cup quarter-final defeat by Paris St Germain in Atlanta on Saturday. The 22-year-old Germany international was injured in added time before the break following a collision in PSG's penalty area. As Musiala challenged defender William Pacho for the ball, goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma inadvertently rolled over Musiala's left ankle, twisting it at an alarming angle and leaving him lying in agony on the pitch. "I've rarely been so angry at halftime, not against my players. There's many things in life that are important, much more important than this. But in the end, for these guys it's their life," Kompany told reporters after the 2-0 loss. "And someone like Jamal lives for this and he came back from a setback. And then it happens in the way it happens and you feel powerless... "When I'm sat here next to you now, the thing that gets my blood still boiling at the moment, it's not the result. I understand this is football. But it's the fact that it happened to someone who, one, enjoys the game so much but also very important for us." Bayern's medical team rushed on to the pitch as Donnarumma, visibly shaken, dropped to the ground with his hands on his head in disbelief at the severity of the injury. Players from both teams formed a circle around Musiala who was carried off the field on a stretcher. The German daily Bild reported he could be sidelined for up to five months. Bayern goalkeeper and captain Manuel Neuer said Donnarumma's dive was "risky" and that he had spoken to his Italian counterpart after the incident. "You just accept that your opponent might get injured. It could even be a teammate," he added. "So I went over to him and said: 'Don't you want – because it was half-time anyway – don't you want to go over there? Jamal is lying there, he'll probably stay in the hospital, he has a serious injury, and I think it's only right to go over there out of respect and wish him well and just say a little sorry.' Arsenal eye Noni Madueke transfer as Rodrygo price tag revealed
Arsenal are set for a huge summer in the transfer market, with Mikel Arteta keen to strengthen his squad and guide the Gunners to their first Premier League title since 2004 Arsenal have made just the one signing so far this summer, but plenty more new faces are expected before the window slams shut. Rodrygo has been a bit part player for Real Madrid at the Club World Cup so far and could be sacrificed as Xabi Alonso looks to strengthen his attack. However, Arsenal could face stiff competition with both Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain interested in the 24-year-old. Gyokeres latest According to a report from Portuguese outlet Record, Viktor Gyokeres has rejected huge offers from two Saudi Arabian clubs as he is keen on a move to Arsenal. The Gunners are looking to sign a prolific goalscorer this summer and are working on deals for both Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko, with conflicting reports over which striker is their preferred option. Al-Hilal and Al-Qadsiyah, meanwhile, are said to have offered Gyokeres lucrative deals worth around £11m-a-year. However, Gyokeres has turned them down as he wants to join the Gunners.
