Ahmed Hassan: The Egyptian striker set to join Al-Ettifaq
Ahmed Hassan is expected to sign with Al-Ettifaq in the coming hours. The Egyptian striker is in advanced talks with the Saudi Pro League club, which is working to finalize his arrival to bolster their attacking options.
The 32-year-old Egyptian international is on the brink of joining the ranks of Al-Ettifaq. West Ham forward Lucas Paqueta cleared of spot-fixing charges
West Ham forward Lucas Paqueta has been cleared of alleged spot-fixing after being accused of deliberately receiving yellow cards to influence betting markets. The English Football Association confirmed Thursday that an independent panel had found the charges unproven. 'Lucas Paqueta denied the charges against him, and the Regulatory Commission found them to be not proven following a hearing,' the FA said in a statement. The ruling brings to an end a long-running case against the Brazil international, who was charged in May 2024. The FA had claimed the 27-year-old Paqueta intentionally sought to be booked in four separate games — against Leicester, Aston Villa, Leeds and Bournemouth between November 2022 and August 2023 'in order for one or more persons to profit from betting.' Blackstone Chambers, representing Paqueta, said it was understood to be the longest case in FA history. Paqueta was charged with breaches of FA Rule E5 related to integrity of matches and competitions. The rule sates a participant 'shall not, directly or indirectly, seek to influence for an improper purpose the result, progress, conduct or any other aspect of, or occurrence in or in connection with, a football match or competition.' The panel did uphold two charges against Paqueta for failing to answer questions and provide information to the FA's investigation. The governing body said it would determine an appropriate sanction at the earliest opportunity. Full reasons for the verdict have not yet been published. ___ AP soccer:

Inter Milan are only considering Ademola Lookman as a target, and won't move for Chelsea's Christopher Nkunku. This according to the Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. Inter Milan have now really set out their stall in their pursuit of Ademola Lookman. On Tuesday, the Nerazzurri raised their bid for the Nigerian from €40 million to €45 million, including add-ons. First this came informally, in a conversation between Inter President Beppe Marotta and Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi. Then, Inter officially sent their bid via e-mail, reports the Gazzetta dello Sport. Inter are offering an initial fee of €42 million for Lookman. Plus €3 million in add-ons. Nevertheless Nkunku #18 of Chelsea FC looks on during the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 group D match between Esperance de Tunis and Chelsea FC at Lincoln Financial Field on June 24, 2025 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. (Photo by) According to the Gazzetta, Atalanta are not going to wait long to respond to Inter's latest offer. The newspaper report that La Dea will give their response officially by tomorrow. And they could even informally communicate their response today. The Gazzetta report that Inter are confident that their bid will be accepted. There is also the option to try and sign Christopher Nkunku. Chelsea have reportedly offered the Frenchman to Inter. However, the Nerazzurri are not thinking about any 'Plan B' to Lookman, whether it be Nkunku or anyone else. They only want to sign Lookman.
