3 PlayStation Plus games to play this weekend (June 13-15)
Dead by Daylight
Because the official Friday the 13th game has been shut down, I am turning to the next best thing to celebrate this unlucky holiday. Dead by Daylight started out with very clear homages to iconic movie slasher Killers, but eventually got the rights to use tons of official characters like Freddy, Ghostface, and Leatherface. Sadly, the one glaring omission is Jason. Even so, this is an amazing multiplayer horror game, whether you're one of the struggling survivors or a lethal killer hunting them down. It has been a huge hit with fans for over 10 years now so it must be doing something right. This is a great game you can play for just a night or two for some quick spooky fun, or get deep into the progression and play for months.

Nioh
Out of all the announcements from the State of Play this week, I don't think anyone saw Nioh 3 coming. Now that Souls-like games are bigger than ever, I can't wait to see how Team Ninja is evolving the formula, but also think this is the best time to go back and hone my skills in the original. From a gameplay perspective, Nioh still feels amazing. It has the speed of a game like Sekiro or Bloodborne, but with some great twists like the stance system and abundance of loot. The one aspect that might feel a little dated after Elden Ring is the level-based structure, but that also gives it a much more approachable feel; you can dive in for one mission and feel accomplished or take on a dozen. If you've been sleeping on one of the best Souls-like franchises, now is the time to give it a shot.

There was a small but passionate group out there who went wild when Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles was revealed. If you are one of them, you know there hasn't been anything that has quite scratched that same tactics itch since this classic title all those years ago. Now that we know it is coming, we need something to hold us over, right? That's where the PSP gem Jeanne d'Arc comes in to save the day. Not only is this a criminally underplayed tactics game, but it is also considered to be almost on the same level as Final Fantasy Tactics. Tactics lovers will find a wealth of gameplay options to tinker with, plus a gripping story that puts a magical twist on historical events.

New Haight-Ashbury record store aims to revive San Francisco punk scene
In Haight-Ashbury, where counterculture echoes through the streets, a new record store is turning up the volume on punk. More than just a shop for vinyl, tapes and CDs, I Hate Records is carving out a space for the city's punk community. Run by artists Cody Azumi and Pretty Sims, the store stays as unapologetically raw and DIY as the music on its shelves. "One of my favorite things about punk rock is the ability and freedom to question authority," Azumi said. The co-founders of I Hate Records say the store is more than a business, it's about building a space for real, face-to-face connection. "You know, you can order anything you want on the internet," Sims said. "But I think that actually having that face-to-face, real conversation about it, and learning what people in San Francisco think punk is, is really important." The shop, which also operates as an independent record label, aims to welcome those unfamiliar with punk, inviting them to learn and experience the scene. "I would love it if people came into the store and gave it a chance and learned about the ethos and whatnot," Azumi said. "Because it is very angry music. You know, I think a lot of people have reasons to be pissed off right now." That DIY ethos extends to the very walls of the store, with a lens toward social justice. "This shop means a lot to me," one customer said. "I think it's a capstone. It was built on a lot of hard work. And I think it's really a pillar of the punk community. Got a lot of cool records, and it just feels like home when I'm in here." That's exactly the experience Azumi and Sims hope to create. "It kind of just makes you feel a little bit better," Sims said. "Just to know that you have people around you who are supportive and who are into making art for a greater purpose, to just say what you feel, no matter what other people think." Each day, the shop stands as proof of punk's enduring roots in the Bay.

Tobey Maguire files for joint custody of son
Tobey Maguire has filed for joint custody of his son and Jennifer Meyer's son Otis. Nearly 10 years after the pair announced their split, Tobey – who also shares daughter Ruby, 18, with Jennifer – has filed a response to Jennifer's initial divorce filing from 2020, requesting joint legal and physical custody of their 15-year-old son. According to Us Weekly, he has also asked for child and spousal support 'to be determined through private mediation'. Tobey, 50, and Jennifer, 48, tied the knot in Hawaii in 2007, four years after they first met. They announced their split in a joint statement in 2016, saying: 'After much soul searching and consideration, we have made the decision to separate as a couple. As devoted parents, our first priority remains raising our children together with enduring love, respect and friendship.' Jennifer only filed for divorce four years later, with Tobey's response coming this month. The pair have maintained a close friendship following their split, with Jennifer previously telling Us Weekly: 'He's my best friend. He's the greatest ex-husband a girl could ever have. 'The day begins with the kids and ends with the kids. So, you manage to get your time in and work hard in the middle, you know? They're really amazing kids, so we figure it out together. It just manages to work out really well.' Speaking on The World's First Podcast in 2022, Jennifer – who got engaged to Geoffrey Ogunlesi last year - said: 'I can't even explain. ‘Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake' Continues To Look Really Lovely
The upcoming Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake still continues to impress and look lovely in its latest trailer. While the Western version of the Nintendo Direct omitted any mention of Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, the Japanese version covered the game quite a bit. Thankfully, Square Enix uploaded the trailer to their channel and in English, too. Unlike the Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, this new instalment combines the first two games into one package. This makes sense, as the first two games were a lot shorter than the third game in the series. Moreover, Dragon Quest III was the narrative start of the original Erdrick trilogy, before Dragon Quest XI came along at least, and it makes sense storywise that the first two Dragon Quest games would follow the third for these remakes. It's also important to point out that in the first Dragon Quest, you only play as one character, that of Erdrick. Or, more accurately, the descendant that gets to use that name. I am also loving the very British voice acting and dialogue. It fit really well for the Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, and this looks to be just as good, if not better. The other big news is that Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake will also be released on Switch 2, as well as the original Switch, which I think is great. Dragon Quest has a very Nintendo-specific heritage to it, and it just feels right that Nintendo's latest console would also be supported for a game like this. Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake will be released on October 30 for Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, via Steam. Follow me on X, Facebook and YouTube.
