Nearly ₹1,500 crore transferred to bank accounts of 1.27 crore women under Ladli Behna Yojna, says MP CM
His remarks came while addressing a program organised for Ladli Behna Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana and Social Security Pension Scheme on Saturday.
" ₹1,543.16 crore has been transferred to the bank accounts of 1.27 crore women under the Ladli Behna Yojana scheme... We are also providing help through the PM Ujjawala Yojana scheme and have provided ₹46 crore and 36 lakhs of the subsidy..." he said.
Meanwhile, CM Mohan Yadav took a holy dip in the Shipra river at Narsingh Ghat located in Ujjain district and offered prayers.
"I try to take a dip in the Shipra River every year here. It is an old spot and Narsingh Temple is located here, devotees come here to take a holy dip throughout the year, especially during the holy month of Sawan and earn virtue," CM Yadav told reporters.
Earlier, CM Yadav participated in the Kanwar Yatra in Ujjain and also showered flowers to welcome the Kanwar Yatris. Yadav also highlighted that the state government would ensure tight security arrangements for all Kanwar Yatris, along with appropriate facilities. He further added that instructions in this regard were already issued.
The Chief Minister welcomed Kanwar Yatris with a shower of flowers. He also performed worship of Kanwar, lifted it, and along with Mahamandaleshwar of Agni Akhada, Uttam Swami, began Kanwar Yatra by walking on foot.
The Chief Minister said that the tradition of celebrating all festivals with enthusiasm has been initiated by the state government. With the blessings of God and saints, preparations for Simhastha-2028 in Ujjain are being carried out rapidly.
"We are making all preparations with the thought that even if events like Simhastha are held every year after 2028, there should be no difficulty. Keeping in view Simhastha-2028, a 'Simhastha Dharmik City' is also being constructed in Ujjain for setting up ashrams and other arrangements for saints, so that convenient facilities can be ensured for the large number of devotees visiting Ujjain," he said.
Addressing Kanwar Yatris, Chief Minister Yadav said there are many cultures in the world, and though there are 194 countries, no country begins any auspicious work by taking a vow with water. "Indian culture has always considered water as life itself, and a way of living. By the grace of God, we have been aware of the qualities of water for thousands of years."
'Sawan' holds a special place in Hindu mythology. Devotees undertake fasts and offer prayers to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva during this period. The chanting of Shiva mantras, singing bhajans (devotional songs), and performing Rudrabhishek (ceremonial bathing of Shiva Lingam with holy substances) are common practices observed with fervour across households and temples during 'Sawan' month.

Over 10K female cops deployed along Kanwar Yatra routes in U.P.
The safety of women is at the core of security planning for this year's Kanwar Yatra, with the Uttar Pradesh government deploying over 10,000 women police personnel along the pilgrimage routes, according to a press note issued by the state's media cell on Sunday. Officials said the state government's initiative reflects its commitment to creating an environment where women can participate in religious and cultural events freely and fearlessly. (File photo) The deployment includes 8,541 head constables and 1,486 sub-inspectors, accounting for nearly 15% of the total force deployed to ensure a safe and smooth experience for devotees. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath had directed the implementation of a women-centric security model in a recent high-level review meeting after he was informed that around 6 crore devotees, including an estimated 60-70 lakh women, were expected to take part in the Kanwar Yatra. Officials said the state government's initiative reflects its commitment to creating an environment where women can participate in religious and cultural events freely and fearlessly. As part of this model, female constables have been stationed at all women's help desks to assist and counsel devotees in sensitive situations. Additionally, Shakti help booths, in collaboration with women's voluntary organisations, are being set up in several districts to support women pilgrims. According to senior police officials, women police personnel have been made a mandatory part of quick response teams (QRTs), including night patrols, to ensure immediate support in emergencies. They said the QRT patrolling has been intensified along key routes, and female officers are monitoring special 24x7 control rooms and helplines across 11 zones. They further said that the Meerut zone is a critical hub of the Kanwar Yatra and has witnessed the highest deployment, with 3,200 women police personnel positioned across districts like Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Hapur, and Ghaziabad. Technological surveillance through drones, CCTVs, and social media monitoring is being actively used to further enhance security even as over 150 help desks for women have been established to offer real-time assistance, they added.

Plea Against UP's QR Code Order For Eateries Along Kanwar Route In Top Court
New Delhi: The Supreme Court will hear a plea on July 15 challenging the Uttar Pradesh government's directive mandating the display of QR codes on all eateries along the 'kanwar' route, which reveal the names and identities of the owners. A bench of Justices MM Sundresh and N Kotiswar Singh is set to hear the PIL filed by academician Apoorvanand Jha and others. The top court had last year stayed similar directives issued by BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Madhya Pradesh, asking eateries along the Kanwar Yatra routes to display the names of their owners, staff and other details. Referring to a press release issued by the UP administration on June 25, Jha, said, "The new measures mandate the display of QR codes on all eateries along the Kanwar route, which reveal the names and identities of the owners, thereby achieving the same discriminatory profiling that was previously stayed by this court." The petition said the UP government's directive asking stall owners to reveal religious and caste identities under "lawful license requirements" breaches the right to privacy of the shop, dhaba, and restaurant owners. A large number of devotees travel from various places with 'kanwars' carrying holy water from the Ganga to perform 'jalabhishek' of Shivlings during the Hindu calendar month of 'Shravan'. Many believers shun consumption of meat during the month. Many don't even consume meals containing onions and garlic.
