"Frustrated reaction of BJP": Congress MP Surjewala on reports of ED raids at several locations linked to G Parameshwara
Surjewala linked the raids to the Karnataka government's recent decision to grant ownership rights to one lakh SC-ST families.
In a social media post on X, Surjewala wrote, 'The ED raids on the Educational Institutions of Karnataka's Home Minister, Dr. G. Parameshwara, one of the tallest SC Leaders, is a frustrated reaction of BJP & Modi Govt to giving of ownership rights to 1 Lakh SC-ST families yesterday at Hospet.'

The Congress leader termed this development as a 'constant assault' on the Constitution and leaders of SC-ST-OBC communities' across the country, adding that the 'revenge seeking against G Parameshwara is part of 'sinister design.'
The social media post reads, 'The constant assault on Constitution and leaders of SC-ST-OBC communities across India has become a habitual pattern. The revenge seeking against @DrParameshwara is part of this sinister design. Dr. Parameshwara has run Siddhartha Institute of Technology, Tumkuru that was set up 46 tears ago in 1979 and Siddartha Medical College, Tumkuru was set up 28 years ago in 1988 in the rural hinterland of Tumkuru to light the lamp of education. It is indeed surprising that after 46 years of setting up of this institution, Modi Govt is searching for wrongdoing, while BJP's corruption is being actively investigated by the Home Ministry and Dr. G. Parameshwara.'
Taking aim at the BJP, Surjewala said that the ED raids is 'desperate attempt to coverup the corruption of previous BJP governments.'
'The ED raids appear to be a desperate attempt to coverup the corruption of previous BJP Governments and stifle the voice of those who champion the voice of the oppressed. The @INCKarnataka will carry forward with the 5 Congress Guarantees undeterred and will follow up more rigorously the 6th Congress Guarantee of giving ownership of 1 Lakh houses to our brother and sisters of the SC-ST communities. Earlier today, denying the involvement of Home Minister G Parameshwara in any case, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said that the leader is a very 'decent' and 'simple' man.
Speaking to media persons, Shivakumar said, 'I am sure that in no way my Home Minister is involved in any case. He is a very decent and simple man. No way G Parameshwara is involved in such a type of case.' (ANI)

'I don't know Telugu. Do you?' the Chief Minister quipped when a journalist pointed out that 'palli' is not exclusive to Telugu. He maintained that the renaming was done based on the local legislator's request. Located around 100 kilometers from Bengaluru, Bagepalli lies along the Bengaluru-Hyderabad national highway and borders Andhra Pradesh. The region is home to a significant number of Telugu-speaking residents, which likely explains the linguistic roots of the original name. The government now felt a need to rebrand the town with a name seen as more reflective of Karnataka's identity. This isn't the only name change the cabinet has pushed through. In the same meeting, the Karnataka government also approved renaming Bengaluru Rural district to Bengaluru North. The decision is part of a larger effort to reorient district names in accordance with geographical identity and administrative ease. This move follows an earlier decision in May 2025, when the government cleared the renaming of Ramanagara district as Bengaluru South. Ramanagara had originally been carved out of Bengaluru Rural in 2007.

Cong will ban RSS once it comes to power: Priyank Kharge
Bengaluru: After claiming that Congress will ban RSS once it comes to power in the Centre, Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge continued attacking the organisation on Wednesday, saying that it is 'cancer' and the BJP's love towards it is 'superficial'. Priyank Kharge, the Minister for RDPR, IT and BT, is the son of AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge. Priyank Kharge stated on Wednesday that, 'Following my remarks regarding a possible ban on the RSS, BJP leaders, including state President B.Y. Vijayendra and MLA V. Sunil Kumar, have been issuing various statements. Let the BJP not forget that there is a cure for the cancer that is RSS - an organisation that threatens national unity, the national anthem, the national flag, and the Constitution - and that cure lies within the Constitution itself.' 'For BJP leaders, defending the RSS is absolutely essential - to safeguard their positions and to secure their political future - because they are all tethered to Nagpur. Even if they dislike it, they are compelled to defend the RSS,' he said. The minister said, 'The BJP's love for the RSS is only superficial - it resides in their throats, not in their hearts. If their admiration were genuine, BJP leaders would be sending their own children to RSS shakhas instead of schools. Not a single BJP leader's child wears RSS shorts and plays with lathis at a shakha. Even the BJP knows that associating their children with the RSS would ruin their futures.' 'If Prime Minister Narendra Modi were to suddenly launch a campaign like 'Selfie with Shakha' for BJP leaders' children, even the RSS would come to know the truth of their loyalty. It would be good if respected Vijayendra and other BJP leaders acknowledged the historical truth that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel had banned the RSS, considering it a terrorist organisation,' he claimed. 'Even if one doesn't fear mobs or violence, one must fear the Constitution of this country. Vijayendra, Sunil Kumar -- in this nation, the Constitution is the ultimate authority. My challenge to the BJP: As the RSS prepares to celebrate its centenary, let it list just 10 contributions it has made to the country over the past 100 years,' he challenged. Slamming Priyank Kharge for his statement on the RSS ban, state President Vijayendra stated, 'The Congress party's intolerance, hatred, and frustration toward the RSS will not harm the organisation in any way. Since the time of Nehru, the RSS has firmly withstood Congress' threats and attacks. So what weight do immature individuals like Priyank Kharge carry?'
